@FlavCity with Bobby Parrish : I was just wondering...are you filming there in Trader Joes with an actual "camera" or are you using a cell phone? I saw another vlogger do this and the Dollar Tree threw her out and she asked the manager there why they didn't make the other customers leave who were using their cell phones to record what they wanted? The manager's reply to her was, "We cannot tell people what to do with their cell phones, but we cannot allow actual "cameras" in here". What are your thoughts on this???
iphone..and I agree...if people wanna use their phones, and go to the store when its not that busy..and are not in the way...that should be fine! its good press for their store ;)
Trader Joe’s should be grateful for the free publicity- great job for trying to share your insight. :) I enjoyed it! At least the guy who had to kick you all out was nice about it. :)
I wonder why they don't let people film in the store. It never made any sense to me. You guys are actually doing them a favor and getting them business when you talk about what to buy. Great video.
I found your channel a few weeks ago. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your food knowledge with the world. I truly believe you are saving lives. Thank you!
As a college student Trader Joe’s is so nice if you’re broke. Their salads have saved my life for as little as 2.59 each salad bowl and they are so fresh! 🥗 and their pasta is .99 cents. Most of their veggies are very inexpensive too. Our budget for both my boyfriend and I for 1 week is 35 dollars. They also have chicken legs pack for 2 dollars. Also check the 1 pound of ground turkey for 2.69 😻 (as you can see if it costs over 3 dollars we don’t buy it Hahahah) for coconut milk Dollar Tree has each can for a dollar 😊
I love putting cream cheese on the Norwegian crisp bread and sprinkling everything but the bagel seasoning on it. It’s like a bagel fix but for like 4 carbs.
I instantly recognized that this is my favorite TJ's on Lincoln. And recognized that they finished the video at the one of the unfriendly TJs that annoyingly takes your cart after your purchase ("I want that my cart to carry these heavy items to my car - get wheel locks if you don't want them stolen") Sidenote: After 3 bad experiences, I will never again buy perishables at the TJs in Evanston
i work at trader joes the spices dont sit on the shelves for "months and months" they usually sell out and are replaced with new ones within a couple of days if not less than a few hours after they're put on the shelves
@@BobbyParrish also...we don't know how long it sits in a warehouse before being shipped to the store... I order cheap spices from a truly organic farm in Washington that mainly sells herbs. I do pay extra for shipping but at least I know the source and it is shipped very fresh:)
Tell the person writing the grocery order to order more for the shelf and have some in the backstock. So when you guys stage the backstock before you guys leave for the night, wala it will be on the shelf once again for the next recipes to be made. Than you won't have any upset customers talking to your Captain at the pit!
FREE TO FAMILY Probably because other shoppers don't want to be in youtube videos with thousands of views without consent. Did he get releases for all of the people in the background walking by? Probably not. Was he polite and did he blur out faces? Nope! He's a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Thanks for Th’s Açaí tip I had to give up a lot of foods because these companies love their sugar. I have the same container of sugar I bought 8 years ago when moved here. I just don’t add it to anything. Last years I grew a stevia plant and I’ll be growing more this year
365 Whole Foods tahini is not good quality either.. Lebanese and Palestinian brands are far better than the Israeli and Greek tahini's. Makes sense cuz that's where hummus originated :) Can usually find some good ones at your local middle eastern store or even at Walmart. Tahini is also the base for 'halvah' which is frickin DELICIOUS if you haven't had it! Pick some of that up if you're at a Middle Eastern food shop
No one place where it really been linked, but it was historically important in the region for kosher diets, had family work in those grocery stores and regulations don’t exist, quality can’t be traced or mentioned at all but unique and different tastes of tahini sure but not the same as quality or the 365 is way safer.
Thank you Bobby! I also found Spud Crunchies, potato snack at Trade and Joe’s for my kiddo, who is a picky eater. Followed your advice about expeller oils and regular oil purchase, such a big difference! Thanks again for making this video!
From an old retired English teacher who can't lay down the habit - if it's countable say fewer, but if it's not countable, say less. Example - This recipe has less milk, so it has fewer calories. Or this example - Since I used fewer tablespoons of milk in this recipe, it has less liquid. In this sentence, it's the quantity of tablespoons that are being counted, not the amount of milk. Since tablespoons are countable, fewer is the correct choice.
As a British English teacher, might I suggest you save your time, enjoy the information that this young man is sharing? Might I suggest you only correct those who ask to be corrected! Perhaps your being old has made you grumpy.
@@carolannetitmus8878 No, not grumpy, just cheerful. Learning is fun - fun to share and fun to receive, and this young man presents himself as an enthusiastic learner of new things. Let's keep this site happy for him.
Your information is SO valuable& useful! They really should let you stay. I have purchased so many new things from Traders because of you! I appreciate your videos
Thank you for taking the time to makes us aware of all these products, the ones to buy & the ones not to get. I love going to Trader Joe’s, there’s one 6 minutes from me. Thank you thank you
I don't know how you do not kicked out more times from Trader Joe's. Years ago I took a photo at a mural at the Westfield, NJ location and an employee came up and told me that the company doesn't allow photos from inside the store. She was rather rude about, but at this gentleman was nice. Also, the cattle in Argentina and Uruguay are always grass-fed; they have some of the best meats on the planet.
Ohhhhh yes please, because their prices can be crazy! They have an app though and they just sent me a coupon for crazy cheap coconut water, so you can find some deals n rarities in their. Their frozen section is DA 💣 if you are strict paleo. They have these Mikey's Pizza Pockets that are grain and dairy-free... 🤤
I just bought the same TJ coconut milk yesterday and it states the ingredients: Organic coconut milk, (water, & organic coconut). By the way, my coconut milk is always located on the top shelf at my location in Orland Park. They must place their items per how popular they are and sell per location in the store. I make my own cauliflower pizza crust from scratch using TJ Cauliflower Rice and their sometimes I mix their Broccoli Rice using half and half located in their refrigerator section to your left when entering the store. I use Chef Buck’s technique by putting the veggies in a skillet to cook the water out of it first and low and behold my crust held up without having to eat the pizza with a fork! Chef Buck’s and I have a similar recipe; however, I do season my crust with Italian spices and hard Asiago and Parmesan cheeses. Thanks Bobby for that information about the Tahini sauce from TJ, I wish I knew about it a few buys ago. I was making Hummus dips without the Tahini sauce and she said it was good and she asked about the ingredients and I left out the Tahini sauce that was missing and when I looked for it I had chosen TJ over WF’s brand because it was cheaper in price; however, my Hummus taste better with out their Tahini sauce. I do remember making Hummus for the first time using Tahini sauce that my daughter left on my pantry shelf and I believe it came from a speciality store and I started tweaking the recipe by using different beans and adding avocado to the recipe, etc, that I totally forgot about the Tahini sauce until she had mentioned it. Yes, TJ’s Tahini sauce was not all that!
Recently I asked about purchasing macadamia nuts at Trader Joes and I was told they haven't sold it for a long time (this is in Minnesota) - maybe some Trader Joes has it. So I did purchase these on Amazon (9 oz for about $11-12.00). I've learned so much from, Bobby, when I go shopping now. I found almond "Malk" (milk) for 50 cents at a discounted supermarket - I bought six of them it tastes great, organic, cold-pressed, no bad ingredients.
Thank you so much for this video. I never shop at trader joes because i thought they are so expensive and only for people with money. But your video change my mind.
Awesome informative videos... ! When you think you're doing your homework and buying healthy stuff, staying away from gluten sugar and milk products....bam! You realize you're back at zero! I feel real bad for those still eating at burger joints and drinking sodas daily. So much to learn. Thank you!
Ghee is very easy to make at home. I never buy ghee. So much cheaper and tastier. I generally use Trader Joe butter. But you can use any unsalted butter.
The only place I've found that beats Trader Joe's on macadamia nuts is publix , you get more for the price at publix but other than that Trader Joe's beats it on everything else
Just wanted to add some clarification on the dairy comments in the video. Lactose is, like you said, a sugar in milk and is reduced by some cheese making processes. Casein is actually a protein (like whey) and is not reduced in cheeses. However, some people with a casein allergy are actually only allergic to the casein in cow milk and can eat dairy products from other sources (goat, sheep, etc.) without issue.
Thank you for the recommendation about the tahini. I’ve been eating Trader Joe’s and didn’t realize it was bitter until I tried the Whole Foods 365 brand. 👍
Love your videos. You might want to note that buying oils (such as avocado, grapeseed, olive....) it is best to buy in glass, rather than the more available plastic; also darkened glass is better to protect from light.
Whenever I eat vegan food for 3-7 days due to religious reason, always make my own tofu from soybean and lime juice. The meatless, meat immitation stuff have a lot of questionable ingredients in there. I dont know if they are bad for me or not but I refuse to eat stuff I cant pronounce 😁.
Thanks for the info, visited Ohio a couple years ago, & my friend introduced me to sprouted bread, it was so good, but not carried in Chicago or New York.I'll see if I can find a picture of it.txs
Watch how much tofu you consume because my friend ended up with horrific thyroid problems because of daily consumption of soy products. Especially concerning if you're female.
I doubt the spices at trader joes aren't fresh considering they're always selling out of everything and they stock product every single day. I think the supply and demand is too high for them to have old stuff.
Everythng seasoning is good as a hummus too. I make both from scratch. Ingredients for seasoning I get at bulk barn so you get just the amount you need. Yummmm
I don't know what it is about Bobby I just really really like him! I think he has amazing Charisma and he is so sincere in trying to help people out he seems very selfless and super talented in the kitchen love the guy!
Loved your video. A correction, though, cassava & tapioca are from the same tuber but not the same product. Cassava is the root, cooked, dried & ground into flour. Tapioca is the juice of the pressed root, evaporated into a fine powder. Cassava flour (also called yuca) is lower in carbs than tapioca. It makes a great gluten-free bread.
I appreciate the video and the info. I visit Trader Joe's when I go to my boyfriend's house and still am noy used to their store AND I'm on keto, so this helps! I'd love to see an Aldi's video
My Costco has salted macadamia nuts for the best price I've seen it. $18.99 for a 1.5lb bag. They are dry roasted and delicious. If you have google Express in your area you can purchase them that way since your Costco doesn't carry it.
You are so worth watching. I didn’t know about 100% grass fed. It’s not so much that I’m into organic it’s the meat tastes like what my Dad used to raise when I was a kid. Especially chicken.
@@BobbyParrish All the grocery places are within 3 miles radius. Folsom, CA. We even have Sprouts right across from Trader Joe's. Quite convenient. I cook for a living, a one person kitchen, not a job anymore. I go to play with food every day!😀
D Heirloom My Trader Joe’s in WA State is a happy and friendly place too! They treat their people well, that makes a big difference. They seem tasked to help!
Loved the video! I also have an obsession with TJs. Thank you for the info! Right before you were kicked out you were mentioning the cream box with only 2 ingredients, can you finish what you were gonna say about it? Good or bad. Or recipes where that item is a must.
Mu question is about Ghee-when you boil butter for 12 mins, it produces very harmful substances, so the advice always was that dont fry in butter, add in butter later when cooking is over. How did ghee become healthy stuff?
I hate that people buy, lower fat tasteless cheese to be healthy. The Norwegians use a light skimmed milk to make their Jarlsberg cheese. Full of flavour and naturally very low in fat.
@@kvf710 OH! no sorry about that...I was referring to those so called low fat Cheddar and low fat swiss....when you can buy fabulous cheeses that are naturally low in fat...love Pecorino Roamano...I can use my teeeth as a grater on a piece. lol!
Oh my you just made my day. ❤️ it I’m telling my husband that when I go to the store I am clueless of what to buy healthy and cheap you are a tremendous help to me I appreciate you thanks!!!!!
Very helpful, great video. My favorite thing to get at Trader Joe's or the Oatmeal and Juices they're packed with more nutrients than any other store I found. Also great water
Also, Red Boat is the most highly-regarded fish sauce that I've seen on all the Paleo and AIP blogs. Good to know where I can find it local now, because the other brand I bought was nasty.
I'd like to see a video like that too - seems like it would be difficult, considering the texture. Wouldn't it make more sense to use tempeh, or to make seitan?
TVP is textured vegetable protein, which I get at my local co-op cheaper than from Whole Foods or Amazon. I've used it in curries--it feels crumbly like hamburger meat. It is used by Chipotle Mexican Grill as their vegetarian sofritas filling
I just discovered your videos. Thanks for all the information about what to buy and what not to buy at different stores. I can't wait to check out your recipes!
Fun to watch when you count how many times he says HERE. Yeah...grass fed beef from South America. Buying that is supporting the practice of clearing the rain forest in Brazil for grazing land so more cattle can be raised to furnish beef for burgers etc. Also, check out the “Kobe “ beef. 600 calories per patty FIVE HUNDRED of which come from fat!....that is saturated fat, folks.
