just want to say that I have followed your advice and you honestly may have saved my life... I was 287 pounds with a 90 resting heartbeat and a average of 165 / 90 blood pressure WITH medications. I was just recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and I saw one of your videos and starting to put your methods into practice. It has been 3 and a 1/2 months and I am down in weight from 287 pounds to 228 pounds! My resting heart rate has gone down to 77 beats a minute! My blood pressure has gone down to 120 / 70 and my blood sugar never goes past 100 even when i eat! (Says around 80 while fasting). I cannot express my gratitude enough Sir, you have My respect and I truly believe in your truth because I live it! I finally gave up sugar, every flour baked items, pastas, and rice. I tried doing this years ago, but couldn’t give up my sweets. I knew I was taken in too many carbs because of the way my body looked and how I felt;I got tired of feeling tired and achy. I started a high protein, healthy fats, low carb eating with very little carbs…veggies only. What a big difference on how I feel. I also knew that changing my eating habits would help, I just needed to be at that point in my life to want to change it. I love myself for it. ♥️

Giving up bread was probably the single best decision of my life ever, it was also one of the hardest tho, I spent almost 30 years eating at least 2 slices of bread every single day; the first 2 weeks after giving it up, I felt the worst withdrawal I've ever felt in my life, I was very anxious, but those two weeks were the most substantial to my weight loss & health path (I lost like 9kg in those two weeks, just by giving up bread), all my life I was convinced that bread was a staple and I would feel weakness if I gave it up because "I would not have carbs", now that I see this video I'm 100% that it's the best decision I've ever made and after 2 years without bread I feel great and don't miss it at all...

Dr. Ekberg I am a four year disciplined follower of intermittent fasting, time-restricted eating (NEVER eat after Sundown) and eating of natural and organic foods and very little bread. It turned my poor health - facing heart and knee surgery - completely around - NO surgery or drugs. You were part of that. I appreciate your informed and clearly and simply reported - for the layman- knowledge and wisdom. I am 70 years of age. I recently shot my age (70) in a round of golf - a very rare accomplishment. I recently won the 60+ men age group in a 5K hilly cross-country race - beating ALL the 14 men ALL of whom were younger than me. But my average weekly mileage for the past 6 months was only 1.2 miles (hardly anything). Last week I swam 1,700 yards (almost a mile) but it was only the 3rd time that I have swum in the past 2 years. I barely exercise although I was a fit runner/triathlete over a decade ago. How is this possible given I was supposed to have heart and knee surgery 4 years ago? Our bodies were designed to performed "Olympically" - IF TREATED PROPERLY. I know that I am "preaching (not only) to the choir)" but to one of the choir leaders and an athlete. I want you and your readers to know this bit of hidden critical wisdom. Around 1752 a British lieutenant, Henry Timberlake lived with the indigenous Cherokee indians for about year near the Smoky Mountain area. As a soldier of about 34 years of age, of that heartier era and having walked most of the way from the east coast, he was fit. Yet in his 1800 autobiography, he wrote of how fit the indians were. This was only a small page or two (way in the back as though not that important). He sheepishly reported that even the older women were impressive. As an example, he cited one woman whose age he knew (62) and she was about an inch or so shorter than him. He said she would routinely carrying a lot of weight which he estimated at about 200 pounds. He did not say what she was carrying but I guessed it might have been a yoke across the back neck to carry water (?) He sheepishly admitted that he could not do what that woman was doing. I learned of this man and book in reading that the TN Valley Authority (TVA) used his book to find lost Indian villages - so that they could save archeological artifacts - prior to building the dams and flooding the area in the 1930's. They found him to be extremely accurate. A precise man. So it is unlikely his book was an exaggeration about what he witnessed. In addition Timberlake reported that he learned that the "elders" included "a noticeable number of people around 150 years of age".... and "still quite active". Contrast that historical fact with today's "modern medicine" culture. Maybe the accounts that Abraham (and others) lived to 175 are true. And why did Timberlake travel so far mostly on foot. He volunteered to be a "Treaty hostage" for a treaty between the British and the Cherokee - who did not trust the British AT ALL and demanded a "hostage" who would have had a horrible end if the British reneged on the treaty. He lived a long life and passed on these brief but invaluable bits of wisdom from the past. In the spirit of Mr. Timberlake, keep up the great work. Looking forward to the next tube-of-wisdom. PS. I will be providing comments to one of your videos on fasting. Two incredible stories beyond even my experience.

You should really fast for a full 24hrs (drinking only pure filtered water) once a week to get the full cleansing the liver and kidneys require to clear out the toxins they absorb. However, if what you are doing is working for you then more power to you. I fasted "religiously" in the manner I described for about two years (including no smoking; I was and am still a smoker) and it produced profound beneficial effects. It's been well over 10 years since I last did it and I believe my body may now be "telling me" I need to return to the practise once again.

I thought I would die if I'm not able to eat any kind of bread. Even the smell of freshly baked bread is always calling me to buy a piece. But as I started switching to Keto, I never crave for breads anymore. Even if I was served a variety of bread infront of me, I automatically say no. Never felt any better. And there are some alternatives to bread even when on you're doing Keto. That's what I like better. Health wise too!

I'm 81 and going strong. I just don't ever eat rice, wheat pasta or baked goodies nor do I drink sweet tea or sodas, beer, wine or booze. That should be enough sacrifice. I haven’t had a slice of bread, a grain of rice, a single pasta noodle now for 16 months. So I can speak from personal experience, it takes awhile to gradually turn around a lifetime of nutritional ignorance, but the positive impacts of bettering your lifestyle can be noticed within days, weeks and months. Sadly, I found out I had Celiac disease about 10 yrs ago. The transition from a wheat gluten diet to a non gluten diet was extraordinarily difficult. Celiac also causes various sensitivities to other types of gluten and just some other foods in general. If you eat in restaurants there is no way to avoid accidental gluten no matter how hard you try. It takes me about a week to recover from eating hidden gluten and it is not pleasant.
@drekberg

Similar story. Coeliac is unique, as diseases go, in that once you stop eating the poison that triggers its symptoms (gluten), recovery from the damage is rapid, with even the gut fully self-repairing in less than 2 years. I wish I'd discovered I was coeliac decades ago. The damage is systemic and the symptoms so varied it can be difficult to make the necessary connections. And coeliac often occurs with other immune system related diseases, which further muddies the waters

Go to your Doctor tell them the way your body has acted after eating grain free for 30 days. Write a diary five days before you start The days before you start you will have noticed signs and symptoms that improve during the 30 days. Sleeping habits. Digestion. Bowel movements. Write everything down. If you can take your own blood sugar. Blood pressure and sats during this time. It's all evidence that will help your Doctor to see if you need a referral to a specialist. This video is extremely useful. I have auto immune response to gluten. Joint pain and swelling and IBS.

The Organic Yoghurt I eat is local to my country (South Africa). I buy it from a shop called Woolworths. All that it has is organic full cream milk, two types of live cultures and plant based stabilizers. There are no preservatives so you have to eat it within 3 days of opening. So for breakfast I eat this yogurt with a banana, blackberries, blueberries and raspberries. For lunch I'll have some protein(boiled egg, ostrich, chicken etc), salad, avo and fold it in a wrap( cauliflower ). Then for dinner, anything healthy really. Chicken salad, steak, curry, stirfry etc. Portion sizes are also key. Stop eating until you get that feeling of been full. Don't go for seconds. 3 smaller portions of meals a day is more then enough. Within 2 weeks your stomach will shrink and you will feel like you no longer need to eat as much anymore and the hunger pains will go away. Trust me once you change your diet and stay mentally strong, the rest will follow.

Great lecture. Quite recently, on my own body, I became convinced not to eat bread. For a long time I have had shortness of breath that I would liken to asthma. I notice that the bread is the cause, but I also suspect the dairy products. I haven't eaten bread for several weeks and I can see a significant improvement. Nights slept peacefully with a deeper, calm breath. This lecture will motivate me to persevere and change my eating habits. Thank you very much.

When working, even if it's physical, I'm usually standing up or kneeling down, not running around... yet I get hungrier than when I was at school. HA! Mr. Ekberg ... I've been trying to fight A LOTTA different cravings, habits, addictions regarding foods and liquids... but now I've become addicted to watching, listening and learning from your videos !!! 😎👍 (Wrote "day 14" in my logbook this morning (6th of July 2022) of 18:6 IF/OMAD with close to NO processed foods: "If you can't read it, don't eat it!" type of (literally) raw materials for dinner. Yes, a lotta water goes in the toilet (insulin level going down), yes, a LOTTA "noise" between my ears about all the "good stuff" I'm going to eat ... but no. I WILL push through these. Disheartening that it may take MONTHS ... but what is life if your heart stops working ... Cigarettes is a tuff one, but motivation is growing daily! Fortunately I can KEEP drinking coffee with this approach to getting healthier! 😁 Went from 100 kg to 95, but that was the easy part of peaing excess water every 15 minutes, but now I go for the "hard to get" fat around the belly in the next month or two. Not heavily overweight since I gotta body full of muscles as a birthday gift from my parents, but closing in on 60, IT'S TIME to do something about it! Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!)

@@drekberg Ever hear of the saying, "you are what you eat" ... I personally don't think ageing is real, I think we just deviate from what we are originally to be. And what we are originally to be I think, maxes out at the age of 33. So, eating younger humans is the best way to not deviate from what we are right? This is my personal philosophy and it seems ludacris, but I think it's accurate

Thank you for all this info about wheat. I have been aware of my problem with its consumption for 40 years (I am 71 and have been type 2 diabetes for about 20 years). I had digestive problems from infancy acne and depression from my teens plus severe headaches and bloating in my 30s. It was during this time that I read a newspaper article claiming that these symptoms could possibly be caused by eating wheat in all forms - bread, cakes, biscuits and pasta. I realised that I was consuming these things in great quantities as if I was addicted to it. I decided to put this to the rest and stopped eating all forms of wheat for a fortnight. After a week I was headache free! By the end of the two weeks my skin was much clearer and the bloating had decreased considerably. I found that I could eat rye with no problems so my diet consisted of Ryvitas and rice cakes as part of a much healthier diet. I have had no help or advice from GPS and have either been laughed at or ignored as if I am crazy although I discussed this with an Indian doctor who was a locum at my hospital who told me that wheat is actually poisonous to humans and that no one should eat it at all. Unfortunately he must have move to another hospital because I never saw him again.

Great vid. Went cold turkey on gluten 4 years ago (wheat, barley, rye, etc) due to excessive back and groin pain and it changed my life. It was by far the best thing I ever did for quality of life. I lost weight with no effort, back and joint pain went away, skin problems cleared up and my mind was clearer. I know I sound like an infomercial, but it is what it is. Your explanation of the slow to digest element of wheat/many grains (and gluten) makes a ton of sense and the Pinsa, invented in Italy in the early 2000s is a great option for those that love pizza but hate the bloated/full feeling. While Pinsa is not gluten free, the wheat/rice/soy combined with a sourdough starter and long fermentation creates a easily digestible dough that someone with NCGS can like enjoy. I much appreciate your channel as I've been fighting the cholesterol scam since I was playing college soccer with a 300+ TC and a roommate was a research assistant and aware of unpublished studies. The pharma industry has way too much control and I've been pushing back since the early 80s. Now, in my late 50s I'm at my college soccer weight, run with the 30 year old's and enjoy an active mountain lifestyle with very little "training" routines. I just wish I had gotten off gluten decades ago, it would have saved me a ton of discomfort. Thanks for all you contribute and your courage to push back.
