10 Hour Local Indian Bus to Udaipur, Rajasthan 🇮🇳 

The reason the ticket counter lady asked for gender was that in rajasthan government buses there is a discount for female travellers. I guess 15 or 30 %. So , she was not sure whether you are booking the ticket for yourself or for any other traveller which could be a female. 😊

You should listen to people more carefully Luke! The person at Durgapura bus stand already told the auto driver to take you directly to platform no. 3 of the Govt. bus stand for the Volvo bus. And the lady at the enquiry counter told you that the AC (Volvo) bus leaves at 11 AM and you heard it as 12. The Volvo bus would have been very comfortable! Anyways, you had a good adventure I guess

I’m from Udaipur mate I would recommend you to go at lala kachori centre,jag mandir island,Rajasthan ras bhandar and yes if you wanna taste authentic Udaipur food it’s very rich so you must visit at dhabalogy cheers 🥂 Udaipur known as mini kashmir,city of lakes or lakecity and venice as well and please if you like praise it bc it’s very underrated here well however as we are Udaipur ppl we also avoid to make relations with metro cities maybe bc we’re not wanna industrialise this beautiful heaven .

Man, you brought back memories. As a kid, I used to take local state buses, and they sucked ass. Not just the bus, but even the people smell and you smell and everyone is on top of another. It's crazy. My 2 hours in local buses were like death to me. The bus often was overcrowded, and as a skinny and small person, on a 3 seater seat, someone would come and squish me, either a fat person, or more than 4 people sitting in 3 seats, as I was just a kid. You have 3 choices only: 1) Get squished like crazy near the window, but atleast, your hands can go outside the bus, and you can get some fresh air too. 2) In middle, where person in window and aisle seat will squish you to death. 3) In aisle, when bus is overcrowded, they push you so much in, and people are constantly touching you. Best seats are either window or close to driver up front, unless conductor of the bus has dibs on it. Did I forget to mention, the extreme temperature, and me sweating like crazy? Growing up, I moved to another country, and now I do realize, I never want to go back to local bus ever again.

The only culture in the world that I don't know how to understand, I envy you for your endurance, happy journey

This journey happened in four legs. First leg JAIPUR to AJMER about 130 kms in 2.15 hrs. Then stopage around 30 min. Then second leg AJMER to BHILWARA about 135 kms in 2.45 hrs. Stopage 30 min. Then BHILWARA to KANKROLI about 100 kms in 2 hrs. Stopage 15 min. Last leg KANKROLI to UDAIPUR about 80kms in 1.30 hrs.

Government buses just suck especially for such long routes . I really wish you had opted for the ac buses , they're pretty good and equipped with chargers as well . But anyways , we gotta experience everything. Best of luck for your stay in Udaipur, it's a very beautiful city . Do visit the lakeside during evening, its an amazing experience.

there is a difference betweeen rtc ,if you opt for less stoppage,your pay more cause the bus will stop at more stops for local people to onboard ,else if you opt for premium therer is only 1-2 stops where the bus will stop for lunch or dinner that is the way how road transport works in India

Thr r Volvos (Volvo bus) of RSRTC and GSRTC (gujrat) which r way more comfortable thn this buses , i would recommend you to travel by those buses , will take half time to cover the same distance Thr r 2 types of buses operated by RSRTC 1 - in which you travelled 2- Volvo ( which r fast ,have pushback seats,AC n r lot comfortable)

Thanks. I think you should also try to learn to read some basic devnagari. It won't be super hard, you could learn it in a week. It'll be helpful in Northern India to read the names of the places or any other things (if they do not have roman script).

Wow 10 hrs bus journey with the heat of Rajasthan and add to that the pollution and dust, surely its hell of a journey. Its totally not recommended, only locals do that because they have less money and their body got acquainted to it.
