I remember seeing him in Worlds Strongest Man; he went on such a fantastic run. I’d watch to see him, and Mark Felix too, he was from England so it was nice to root him on.
@Mixedhero Good because in Poland heavyweight is almost non-existent, plus he fought some cans. Still tho, I respect his achievements and even have a photo with him back when he was competing in Strongmen
Have you never seen international rugby players. In 2019 world cup the average weight of the Togan forward pack (that's 8 players) was 118.53 kg, just 1,5 kg or about 3 pounds under the super heavyweight division, so I guarantee that there was a good number of players in that tounament that would be super heavyweights. Now whilst they are not trained fighters, they are certainly big, strong and fit/athletic men, who, if trained, would not come into the categories you describe. And yes, international rungby is stringently tested, as is dommestic rugby in the big rugby playing nations. The people are out there, there are just not enough that are good enough to have a competitive division, not enough big guys are interested in MMA (and who can blame them, who wants to get punched by another monster?) and the UFC is not interested, at least in the long term, in a division that is not competitive.
"There's a reason The World's Strongest Man finals aren't held in the United State" WSM 2019 Bradenton, Florida WSM 2014 and WSM 2012 Los Angeles, California WSM 2011 Wingate, North Carolina WSM 2008 Charleston, West Virginia WSM 2007 Anaheim, California WSM 1997 was in the United States too. Don't you love when people post shit without having any knowledge of it? Stick to MMA stuff Tommy
@@carnage151 That had to be extremely difficult, considering they only do testing immediately before, and during the actual competition. Absolutely zero out of competition testing the entire rest of the year.
Or rebrand it as oldschool division: no skill checks, make all the shitup you want it'd be their to lighten things up. Both as a intermission between prelims and it's own thing. With much less convoluted rules to would be fantastic testing ground. Dick kicks legal again, the cage door is open a loud and encouraged to trash talk and make shit up. LOL you just know some of the crazy fuckers that got the short end of the stick from Dona whites ego would thrive their.
@@duncanmcokiner4242 So much cool shit has been banned in the name of mitigating brain damage. Soccer kicks to downed opponents heads, 12-6 elbows, headbutts and one that should probably stay illegal spiking.
Sadly, both his sons gave MMA and kick-boxing a try, and they're both like 0-5 in both sports... oh well, at least they gave it a shot, daddy must have been happy. Only time Butterbean pissed me off was for the James Thompson win, I was rooting for the Colossus big time and had some cash on him, and they pull that bullshit?
@@randallflagg3700 Yeah that was a weird one. I would say it was a fix but the way he protested it must of clipped him. Still a bad stoppage regardless. IDK what happened?
@@munkyzzb7504 - Well if you watch the replays, it's 100% clear that Butterbean didn't connect with his punch, Thompson just fell down against the cage from dodging the strike. As soon as his ass hits the ground, the ref stops the fight and declares it a KO, which JT immeditaly protested, explaining that that hugh punch didn't even hit him, but Butterbean said he felt it, so they didn't re-start the bout... It's some old stuff, I wouldn't hold it against Mr Esch, it was in the spur of the moment and who knows what he felt exactly. The cameras don't lie though, and at the time James actually had quite the impressive fanbase for a fighter of his caliber, a lot of hardcore MMA fans really liked the dude since he loved to interact with fans and all... That's pretty much it ^^
It's mainly Tommy Toe Hold being liking pro wrestling bullshit in MMA. I love both pro wrestling and MMA, but for the latter to pretend it's serious shit with no gimmicks is ridiculous. Especially right now with all the Conor bullshit, and even that DC/Brock encounter. But fans like it so never count this out.
@@Holcombi The ufc would never allow juiced up fighters!Oh wait jon jones failed test prior to his rematch with Gustafson, brok lesnar exists l,the trt etc...
Bob Sapp is one of those guys you just want to jump into the arms of because you know he'd catch you and even though he's huge he'd be gentle about it.
Tony R yeah UFC should have a superheavy weight division. Btw there's no weight limit for heavyweight in boxing because it's just throwing punches, there's no grappling and wrestling involved for which size does matter more than just with striking
1:35 did he seriously say "there's a reason the worlds strongest man finals aren't being held in the United States"? They were there literally last year and will be there again this year, and has been there many years in the past. At least do your research.
Yeah, plus piggybacking onto what you said and toward the uninformed, they do test athletes in Strongman. Mainly for health reasons, to check that they won't die in the middle of the event, but also to check for stimulants like cocaine, for which Mariusz had a 3rd place stripped. They're all juicing in America too.
With Mariusz you missed a prime opportunity to put in Booker T’s FIVE TIME FIVE TIME FIVE TIME FIVE TIME FIVE TIME sound bite for his Strongman accomplishments
Fun fact about Pudzian: he's a Kyokushin green belt :) He did Karate and Boxing before his strongman career, so he actually came back back to his roots getting into the fight game.
I hoped you'd put Robert Burneika here. Also I'm pretty damn sure there is some testing in KSW in Poland. I might be wrong cause I no longer follow that crap. Also2 - Butterbean fought Pudzian in MMA.
He's a roided out moron who has literally no knowledge or basic understanding of fighting in general, he's a joke. Pudzianowski at least dedicated himself to the craft and proved that he can be a capable fighter.
@@gregoryhouse2233 thanks for info, that explains a lot of things and leads me to believe that Poland won't produce anymore good MMA fighters besides Joanna and Błachowicz, even so called superstar Khalidov was just beating cans for most of his career and in his last fight got mauled by Scott Askham, not to mention many controversial decisions made in Poland in his favour
Especially if they're gong to let champions contest in multiple weight class without defending. It demonstrates a commitment to fake sports, and if you're going to McMahon, go full McMahon. No one wants to see half McMahon. Super heavyweight would be a freakshow class, but why let that stop you? Fuck USADA, they find who they want and let pass who they want anyways. Take a good look some time at the difference between natural bodybuilders and juiced ones, thrn take a good look at Paulo Costa, Yoel Romero or Jessica Andrade, and tell me you can't clearly see that they're juiced.
Pudzianowski actually DID fight in the US one time, in 2010 vs Tim Sylvia in an event named Moosin: God of Martial Arts. It was his third fight in MMA and, as I recall, he overestimated his fighting prowess after wins against two pretty mediocre opponents. He agreed to a fight with Sylvia against advice from the KSW management. The fight proved that Mariusz still had too poor conditioning to compete in MMA at a high level, as he basically ran out of stamina and turned red. He has since shed even more muscle mass and decided to stick to KSW.
1:36 the 2019 World's Strongest Man finals were held in the United States. Wasn't the first time they were held in the USA either. Also, Pudzianowski was disqualified from the 2004 World's Strongest Man for failing a drug test (booger sugar though).
Just a quick thing. The WSM (World's Strongest Man) final actually took place in Florida last year and testing does take place, which is why Mariusz was unofficial stripped of a few of his wins.
That's false. Mariusz was never stripped of any of his titles. WSM tried to set him up for taking cocaine but Mariusz took the whole thing to court and won.
@@kamilszadkowski8864 He first popped in 2004 when he finished 3rd by violating the Strongman Health Policy ironmind.com/news/mariusz-pudzianowski-disqualified-from-2004-worlds-strongest-man-contest . Then the one with coke and roids while disputed is still likely.
I will never forget Choi Hong-man guest appearance on the popular South Korean variety show Running Man in 2015 with the legendary Kpop girl group Girls' Generation.
That is actually surprising! Something most people wouldn’t suspect about him. I would have thought most of his opponents would use the ground n pound tactic against him because of his stand up power so I guess he got decent at it to surprise people. Makes me a better fan of his.
2019 Worlds Strongest man finals were held in Florida. The Strongmen are obligated to go through drug testing before & after the events. Case in point, Pudzianowski in 2004 was disqualified after failing a drug test, after placing third in the event.
Should be an mma on point video cuz boxing doesn't have a limit as long they can be medically cleared no weight limit hmm how did they come up with that weight?
Heavyweight limit is perfect in my opinion superheavyweight division with USADA would be boring as fuck and even big guys can easily cut down to 265 limit with no problem
205 should be called cruiserweight, 235 should be light heavyweight, 275 heavyweight, 325 super heavyweight. Jones wouldn't have to cut weight and he'd still be light heavyweight. Francis ngan wouldn't have to worry about going over the limit. And if Lesnar ever fought again he would only have to cut 10 pounds instead of 20.
This! She don't even go with that pro-wrestling bullshit and fight for a reason like true martial artist no to give show for a people. From that fight with that 50yo pro-wrestler when she start running the ropes Gabi just stay calm and boom. (it would be so much better if Garcia just do the same and try to KO her with i don't know name of that Move. Like that basic stuff when you run the ropes and hit opponet with bicep you know what i mean)
I mean, the Arnold Strongman Classic is the biggest strongman competition right now. It even overtakes the Worlds Strongest Man competitions, and they are all held annually in Columbus, Ohio. Plus, all the strongman that have come from the U.S, example Brian Shaw, 6 foot 8 inches, 400 pounds, 4x Worlds Strongest Man, 3x Arnold Strongman Classic winner, and multi-time National strongman competitons winner is tested at almost every event all the way back from 2010-2012ish. I don't doubt that he has not used steroids at some point but with how many competitions he has done, never once did he test positive.
So we must believe that there are actually serious drug test in MMA in the USA and that's why Pudzianowski doesn't compete in the USA? Well... o.k. keep believing.
USADA is actually really strict drug testing, out of competition and in competition. If you can pass USADA for years, you can pass olympic testing. KSW in Poland has ZERO testing, even a current champion has said as such.
"Not-as-good-as-we'd-like-to-see" in the US is still lightyears above "virtually-non-existent" which is the standard in most of the world. I like Pudzianowski, but a guy that age can't look like that without some serious help. He'd have to deflate like Overroids had to.
@@rdizzy1 Yep so strict that often athletes have to retire entirely to get medical treatment because their testing will fail someone for indicators that someone may have taken a drug that theoretically could be used to mask the use of other drugs.
I was about to be mad when you said Karaev and Akebono were both “accomplished sumo wrestlers”, but then I actually listened properly to that part and the bit after, so I realised I’d got your meaning totally wrong. Glad Akebono gets the recognition he deserves.
"Wow, do sumo wrestlers have a lot of bouts!" Yes. Barring injury a professional top tier sumo wrestler has 15 bouts (one-a-day for 15 days) every other month, during one of the six scheduled tournaments in any given year. Quick math, that's 90 bouts per year!
Michał Zajko no (i live 20 miles south of columbus, and it’s an excellent event) both last years and this coming competition are taking place in florida, and i believe a few other years it took place in the southern us
"Zuluzinho" means Little Zulu, after his father, who was Rei Zulu (King Zulu). The word "Zulu" is a reference to the african tribe of the same name. King Zulu was a pioneer in Vale Tudo (early MMA), made famous after fighting Rickson Gracie, in a legendary fight.
The real problem is that the USADA's testing regime generates a lot of false positives and bans a lot of prescription medication. Also the sheer volume of testing is impractical if the fighter doesn't live in the USA.
@@timmycrw91 I am not saying that there are countries that just don't care about or can't afford a good testing regime but the USA is hardly the only country that does testing.
Worlds Strongest Man has, and will again be held in US. That's a big mistake guys, you're usually top drawer. Busting balls really, it's not that bad, but ya shudda know still guys 👍
