Why don't you mention the paycheck Hunt was getting for those fights ?I know he's a legend but the guy is like 20:10 and he was headlining fight nights for 880000 that's crazy money ,PPV main event stars have been getting waaaay less so if he didn't want to fight those roid freaks he shouldn't have accepted in the first place
@Nick Johnsen so you wanna say that nobody at the time knew Lesnar and Ovreem were on roids come on man ,be real for a sec .And who are the other 3 steroid cheats that he fought ?
Deni Daniro the only fight in that run that you can criticize Hunt for at all was MAYBE the Brock fight. Regardless, no amount of money can compensate you for the unknown risk of taking damage from someone roided up
What! You guys still get face the pain?? It hasn't played on the ppv in Australia in years. I even played it off my phone at the start of the Usman Masvidal card.
Same thing for the 2000s aesthetics, booing boring fighters even if they win and promoters deciding championships. As Jim Cornette said, the UFC is the number one pro-wrestling promotion in America.
Also the fact that the fans want to be entertained. Also, fights being put together from a business standpoint. the usage of interview/promos, and the placeage of fighters on a card. Predetermined or not, UFC and WWE have the closest business models
Rodger Godell would suspend him for 4 games two years later and fine him $500000 dollars and take two of the Patriots draft picks away (yes I know he dont play for them anymore its implying that it was when they both were still playing at the same time)
Marshawn Lynch too, to an extent. I'm just here so I don't get fined did help bring a lot of people over to know him, granted he was obviously pretty well known to more serious fans already lol
Not to mention I see WAY more mohawks now than I did in the 2000s. Back then they were considered kinda old school punk, now old school punk is cool again. Yes, yes... You always though punk was cool (not you daug just whoever is thinking of responding), we get it you are a trend setter and follow your own unique style because of your own unique tastes, you are definitely not a product of your environment . . .
It's crazy that the referee decides how severe of a penalty you deserve. In basketball and soccer, the ref doesn't just let you off with a warning for accidentally shoving your opponent to the ground lol
Yep. Just MMA......plus boxing, kickboxing, karate, TKD, BJJ, wrestling, muay thai, sumo, judo and pretty much every other combat sport in the world. Actually come to think of it, yellow cards in soccer are pretty much the same thing. I mean shit, fouling someone in basketball is blatantly cheating but you still get a whole handful of those before you get the boot. Even if the foul is accidental in MMA they're still not allowed lol That's why they're fouls and result in point deductions if they keep happening.
good topics make videos better, most of the time the videos have garbage topics that scream "we're out of ideas, pls keep watching" that's how these top 10 channels work
Wrestling does have insane weight cuts as well. I remember one of my teammates cut from almost 170 down to 138. We had meets every Thursday so on Monday practice we were expected to be no more than 7 pounds over. This kid would routinely show up 22 pounds over. Only missed weight once.
Go listen to "what about us" that I had to listen to all of last year as a NCAA Woman's Basketball fan. Then you'll realize you shouldn't have so much disdain for the UFC like this MMA on point guy does.
"Well I'm the best corner in the game, when you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree that's the result you gon get, don't you ever talk about me!" Who was talking about you? "Cr-Crabtree... don't you open your mouth about the best, or imma shut it for you real quick. LOB!"
Here’s my list. (Not in order) 1. Rose vs Joanna 2 2. Weili vs Joanna 3. Andrade vs Namajunas 4. Holm vs Tate 5. Rose vs Andrade 2 6. Joanna vs Gadelha 2 7. Rousey vs Carmouche 8. Shevchenko vs Nunes 1 9. Zingano vs Tate 10. Hill vs Andrade
Jason and Tommy Toehold are the best MMA On Point guys. Tom A Ransom is good, but I like Jason and Tommy Toehold better because they sound as aesthetically pleasing as Adam Blampied firing off pop culture references in pro wrestling
He's doing better than ever in that regard since KOing masvidal. Dude really worked hard to improve his striking and become cloud pleaser. Gotta respect it, he's a monster as a complete fighter
im a metal head, so the whole 2000s phase wont ever get dull with me, although i always appreciate new bands to listen so i dont get too bored of the old songs and albums
love the use of relevant/funny film clips in your vids. always fit perfectly and remind me of a movie I haven't seen in forever. Love you, mma on point
Love this channel, by far one of the best MMA channels out there. Every video signing with “Have yourself a wonderful day” really is a cool thing which I always appreciate. Keep up the great work!! 🙏🙏🙏
I would say Richard Sherman’s “I’m the best corner in the game, Crabtree is a sorry ass receiver” rant in his interview right after the Seahawks beat the 49ers in the 2013 NFC championship definitely helped push him in to super stardom, but that’s the only one I can think of outside if MMA.
This video was sick. I see your videos slowly changing. You're growing. It's really kewl to see. I'm proud of you doods. I appreciate the videos. You've worked hard to get this far. Nice work. 👊
I felt personally attacked during the “mid 2000’s culture” segment 😂😂😂 I watched this with my girlfriend and she looked right at me with the hardest look during that segment 😂😂😂😂😂
I'd argue that Richard Shermans interview when he trashed Crabtree rocketed him to superstardom. He was already popular but not like how he was after that moment with Erin Andrews
Everything about the early to mid 2000’s was special. Maybe because that’s when I was in high school, but those years produced a lot of extremely fond memories
Great video! One more thing you could have brought up is the fact that in mma you could go sign up for a gym and take a class and see a professional mma fighter taking the same class. Or atleast in the same gym traing with the same ppl. Boxing is a bit similar but in mma theres so many different diciplines pros are everywhere learning from everyone, along with themselves owning and running gyms while fighting. You can train at a fighters gym and watch them fight troughtout their career.
I remember some of my friends in high school wrestling spitting into a cup and wearing double layer of sweats all day to lose weight for their match that night. I had one friend pass out and had to go to the hospital while in class. So if high school wrestling puts that much strain on a high schooler can't imagine what these guys are doing to lose weight.
Card girl "technicians" Hilarious. "What do you do?" I'm a toilet paper roll changing "technician. Who me? I'm a unemployment line standing technician." Ridiculous. They're models.
The coolest thing that happened was definitely me dropping 67 year old chuck li..whatever the frick im not great at talking but i am one of the best strikers in mma
@@Thor-Orion fair enough, but I meant events and not cards. Ronda pulled some crazy numbers, and big ufc events nowadays are headlined by women. The thing is you have to put it in perspective and compare it to other sports. No one in their right mind is excited for a wnba game, other than a few sjws 😂, same goes for football, american football and basically every other sport. Tenis might be an exception. But the expectation that a WMMA fight can generate (in comparison to men's) is unmatched 💯
@@marcosbona8260 and i am HUGELY supportive of wmma for several reasons, highest being to inspire girls to learn how to defend themselves. Ain’t nobody taking advantage of the love of my life Shevchenko. But I actually have this crazy idea that they should host mixed rules events. Top level kickboxing, boxing and mma all on one card. I think it would be great for fight sports.
Hey, your videos are like contributions to the historical record of this great and evolving sport/cultural phenomenom. Big respect to you for your writing, editing, and passion. Salute, and a sincere thank you.
Interesting how many of these can be translated to professional wrestling. Big fan of both and this highlighted for me how deep some of the similarities go.
