Best Midfielder in Prem history for me had it all and dragged Liverpool on his own for large periods of his career never fully gets the praise he deserves imo rival fans love to mock the slip but can guarantee if he played for their club he would be the one of the greatest midfielders to play the game
Left foot, right foot, he can whip in a cross, he could drill a long range, launch a diagonal, he presses up front, tracks back, not sure of those tackles, he can head it, shoot it, score those set pieces, he can be your pivot dm, you cm, lm, rm, am, Cs, your trequartista or even your regista or your libero. The most complete midfielder I was privileged to have seen Steven Gerrard. I love football because of hi.
Easily the best . Passing , vision, running- covered the whole park-, tracking back, surging forward to attack, inspiring and involving those around him, scoring.
David Beckham... The best and most accurate long ball passer. Coincidentally... Steven Gerrard is not counted in top 10 passers of all time... in this video they are showing the correct passes, watch a live game..you will see him missing some passes... Xabi Alonso, Beckham, scholes are placed in top 10 of all time.
Best player I ever had the privilege to watch. I’m a Sunderland fan and saw him play against us at the Stadium of Light a few times. Also saw him play for England against Azerbaijan at St James’s Park, I went mental when he scored cos he was my hero
"But, but, he was just a workhorse. All about power... Only Skols can pass a ball..." Gerrad was a one man army player. Twice the player Scholes ever was.
You know! Only because fat Frank was from London he got in the England team. It should have been Gerrard and a holding midielder. Sven fucked it bigtime! Would never, could never have worked. Gerrard was the best central English midfielder since Robson.
@@richardhill5792 nahh.. I think the obvious choice was playing a three man midfield, with Gerrard and Lampard as two number 8s, box to boxes, what they were, with a defensive/holding midfielder behind them. Playing just two of them alone was crazy, and you could obviously have no balance like that.
@@siberianTiger639 Naah!! Scholes couldn’t play a single pivot DM, his defensive gameplay is average and his positioning off the ball is awful. I believe with decent DM like Hargreaves, Carrick or Barry, Scholes could play deep lying playmaker with Gerrard as a box to box and Lampard as the second striker behind either Rooney/Owen. But when you have Owen, Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard, you can’t put Scholes ahead because the position where Scholes plays, Carrick/Hargreaves can do better job as a DM, better interceptions off the ball on defensive duties and reading of the game etc etc as a DM. So it’s no brainer. Although I do think Carrick should have got chances in the England’s starting Xi with Scholes on the bench.
All round yes. But passes no. Beckham has been rated higher by football experts in terms of passing and playmaking. Plus Beckham has performed better for England than Gerrard and I am a football viewer since 1998.
Imo he was underrated in passing and vision . He wasn’t talked much in playmaking area like great playmakers out there. Believe me he was one of those great playmakers. Because he was great at everything some criteria got overlooked. Greatest all around midfielder of all time in my opinion. He was the definition of here comes the cavalry. He played majorly of his career with many average, inconsistent, not pacy forwards, wingers, strikers and you can actually count how many quality, world class wingers, forwards, strikers played with him. And those playmakers that talked too much played with world class players all around let alone forwards every season. When other left , other world class players came in. And gerrard never had that luxury every season. Believe me if he had played for teams that can afford world class players in almost all positions his stat would be monstrous. And don’t give me kdb is better than gerrard. Kdb is magnificent player but gerrard better overall. I know both of them different but gerrard was so versatile when he played in kdb position he owned that position. You can depend everything on getrard. When you are chasing a goal you look at gerrard. When you need extra defender you look at gerrard. Bottom line he would do everything and you can count on him
Yup they are a bit similar but Gerrard was a power House with more pace Power and stamina he was an all rounder while kdb has more creativity and a tad bit of skill compared to Gerrard
We do miss a player that can ping balls like this, Yes Tiago is great but different style of play. Gerrard could ping a ball from anywhere and cause damage!
Steven Gerrard Idolo, siempre seras para mi el mejor, tal vez le falto ganar más titulos, pero lo que este jugador demostraba en la cancha jugando para su equipo era unico. El gran capitán...
You should definitely add his tackles to this video . Maybe gerrard wasnt the best at one thing but he is the best all round midfielder . Scores left foot right foot headers screamers . Can pass 40-50 yards . A beast at tackling . I said he wasnt the best in the world for example passing but tell me one midfielder who is more complete . Not mentioning his leadership as a Captain . UNDERRATED . SG 8️⃣
Stevie at his 40 is still better than prime Henderson 😤 it's 2023 already and Liverpool still couldn't find/buy a great midfielder, cause stingy owners and klopp's stubbornness 😭 Henderson might have all major thropies, but Stevie's skills is incomparable, he single handedly carried LFC's midfield when hendo got carried by teammates.
I came after a united fan put up a video of Rooney passing to Ronaldo with something like "the best complete pass" ... so i had to come back to the real world to see the best passer my eyes have seen
Someone should just do a video compilation of gerrard vs scholes vs Lampard best passes, goals, skills, dribbles, tackles and free kick and we'll all come to know how gerrard was actually the master and best in all departments .
These are mostly miraculous assists which makes it even more impressive that we are seeing here largely only the passes where the striker on the other end scored it.
