Mark Hunt didnt like to cause irreparable damage to his colleagues so he avoided the ground entirely not wanting to hit or submit grounded fighters as submissions can cause dislocations and end careers. Same for peoole getting ground and pounded by a heavyweight. Its not like he could not have jumped on people he was just bigger than that. In my eyes he is a true champion for looking out for the other fighters.

Chael's hands were actually pretty decent. He just always used them to set up takedowns. He actually landed more significant strikes on Bisping and knocked down anderson. Also pieced up yushin okami.

It wasn't just wrestling when it came to Chuck Liddell, his lack of striking defence (when it came to using a defensive guard) and over-reliance on his chin proved the downfall of his career once it finally got cracked.
You also have Aleksei Oleinik. Dude has literally been the same fighter since 1999, and has still found success until recently against top level competition.

Maia definitely has heavy hands. it's his striking technique that was actually poor. but he's heavy handed, Brian Ortega today is what Demien Maia could have looked like if he improved his striking.
Chuck was the man back in the day, he was always fun to watch and he may have been a striker only but he was very good at sprawling takedowns and getting back up quickly. The dude was always fun to watch
In some cases is not "Evolving" is changing their styles...Rampage before his times in England was a straight up Wrestler. Ronda was a Judoka but changed into a "Boxer". And in the case of Demian Maia, he evolved, maybe he can't takedown his opponents at times, but he trained and added Wrestling to his arsenal. Before the Anderson fight he had the Ground Game not the high level abitility to takedown his opponent...heck, he out Fitched Fitch!!
@@jezebulls Rampage NEVER threw kicks. He devolved into nothing more than a boxer. If you kept distance then you were fine. He totally stopped wrestling and just used it for takedown defense
Broke my heart to see Rampage regress in the UFC. He was very well-rounded in Pride, but became a little too one-dimensional in the UFC. In the UFC, his boxing greatly improved but everything else fell by the wayside. I dare say that Pride Rampage could beat UFC Rampage.
Nah to be honest Rampage UFC run is overrated. He beat some top guys, but to be honest a lot of them already were on downhill. He couldn’t keep up with guys of his own age like Rashad.

Maia DID evlove. He came in as a straight grappler with zero striking. He learned a respectable amount, sure it will never be his forte, but it improved quite a big during his prime
While rampage preferred the standard up... he had decent take down defense and wrestling. He got dominated by a few... but they all have something in common. They were all former Champions or title contenders. They were pretty good... lol
Demian did evolve. For a time he treated himself like a striker and wanted to throw hands but because he lacked speed, he found himself in a lot of trouble. So he went back to BJJ. However that changed as well, his method of getting people to the ground and on their back changed and evolved.
The funniest line in this video is when you called Edmond Tarverdyan, "Credentialed MMA coach". The guy is the least successful coach I can think of. Like Ronda's mom said, Ronda was always going to be a champ and the only good thing Edmond ever did was own the front door that Ronda walked in to. He never developed Ronda and he pretty much ruined every fighter that signed on, like Travis Browne.

One that’s always upset me because of the insane potential is Anthony Pettis. He couldn’t get to a point where he could admit his style was just useless for his aging body. Although I wish I could say I miss it, McGregor realized his lack of power and speed in his kicks and has almost stopped throwing the spin kicks of old. I give Pettis props though, he brought a ton of fans to MMA a decade ago so good on him.
I don't really agree with Rousey, as she did add striking to rack up 3 KO's, all 66 seconds or less. And Perry did add wrestling as he wrestled Gall to a UD and then attempted to use it against D-Rod and Tim Means.
Saying all Daley has is a left hand is ridiculous. He has 2 flying knee knocksouts, multiple knee and elbow knockouts on top of stopping guys with bodyshots. Daley is lethal with all 8 limbs and while hes always been inconsistent hes also been a hell of a lot of fun to watch and his stand up is very good. He lifted a dude off the ground with a brutal uppercut at bamma 14 against romario de silva.
The thing is about Rampage was that he was a powerful wrestler in Pride , we've all seen the slams, to a boxer onwards so he did evolve just not very well later in his career
Is using Holm's fight really a valid point to showcase Rousey's inability to adapt. She was arguably the best striker in women's UFC. A decorated boxer is always going to outbox a grappler no matter the effort Rousey would put into training.

Werdum, Gustafsson, Holm and Jedrzejczyk did evolve though. Werdum became a decent striker, Gus showed he could wrestle, Holly's a much better wrestler and grappler now than she was 5-6 years ago while Joanna is harder than ever to takedown and control on the ground. Luke Rockhold has always been a well rounded fighter with credentialed grappling and striking that took him very far, its just his ego and lack of striking defence that proved his undoing.
