By the way, what happened to dual wielding chrome Desert Eagles in Hitman .I remember dual wielding silencer pistols why isn't that in the game anymore?
I dunno, killing Mathias at the end of Tomb Raider felt very cathartic because, in the end, he was really just a delusional cultist and putting him down felt very rewarding. The Oni was the real final boss.
You missed the classic, Skyrim, where the final boss was so diappointing that people who didn't even do it "missed nothing of value." It's just another dragon fight, like you've had dozens of up to that point as random encounters. No phases, no minions, just "hey it's alduin flying around, this time I have to do one shout to dispel the fog, then another to ground him, then stab, game win?"
I just replayed the first tomb raider and beat it last night. The final fight was disappointing but Lara using the duel pistols was cool af. The Oni dude right before fighting him was fun though. It was a solid game overall
No Lucien from Fable 2? I thought he'd be #1, the whole game you've spent preparing for this guy, recruiting allies, strategically attacking his forces, some pretty tough fights, too. You finally seem ready and bam surprise attack, he's turning the tables, but one shot with a bullet and that's the game!
I was waiting for this the whole video. Definitely the worst boss battle imo. I was so ready to hack him into a million pieces and I swung once and he went flying. I was so confused
Man i i disagree it seemed like a glorified qte. For 2 characters that never picked up a sword anywhere in the game. To each their own though, either way the game overall is just downright amazing.
@@AstrophelTDeath I agree! i liked the different campy takes on the historical creatures and myths popping up in some way in the previous games , so till the very end with Rafe, I'd just been waiting for some other bigger, scarier boss to appear, and for us to make use of the ship's environment somehow. so i was underwhelmed with the QTEs with Rafe. he's still terrifying tho, but in a very....real-scary-dude kinda way lol
@@kirkian1828 yeah its not a horrible boss fight , its an amazing game. I had to play it again to realize that, but the mutant part of uncharted 1 was not only the best part, but the scariest part. It still makes me nervous, and i e played the game at least 7 times. Lol. So.. it was good just a bit disappointed with no mythological creature. There was alot they could have pulled from.
No Spoilers: Dying Light would be an excellent kickoff for another list of these someday. Absolutely love the game but that last boss battle was... Special lol
Honorable Mention: The didact at the end of halo 4, I don't even think you can even call it a boss fight. It's more of cinematic cutscene, were you hit one button and the game ends, it's super disappointing, especially after the game builds up the threat of the didact.
I was waiting to see that in this video, but yeah man when I first played I was like ok that´s it? just a couple punches and throw him out of the bridge with a grenade? wow what a fight
I was thinking about it throughout the video, it is even disappointing lore-wise because The Didact doesn't even die there and ends up killed in some comic. Probably worse than some others in the video, like the one of F3 because that lame bos battle doesn't make the end of the game so anticlimatic
I remember doing a long marathon finishing Shadow of Mordor. I was so hyped. I was like "i'm gonna do 100% on this, the game is incredible". And there I was, last quest. I face the tower, stupidly easy. And then... final boss. And it's a QTE. It was like 5 am. I was so hyped I wanted to punch the guy who had that idea at WB. The secondary boss with the beast in the cave (i don't recall the name right now) was more of a battle than that. I just unninstalled the game of how pissed I was
The last boss in Fable 2 had a terrible last boss, I literally one shotted him by force pushing him off the edge where he was standing what a huge letdown that was
Yeah I totally thought Shadow of Mordor was gonna be on this list, was shocked when it wasn't, since that game was so awesome but the final boss fight was so disappointing. The only way to get around it is to understand that it would be pretty weird and lame from a narrative standpoint if you could really fight and defeat Sauron as a regular boss, but even then, having it reduced to a short, boring QTE sequence was still a major letdown.
Rage was always a disappointing final boss for me. The game I thought was pretty underrated--the rest of the game was actually really good--but the final boss wasn't even a boss, it was just waves of enemies. After fighting big mutants and other unique enemies, it was a big letdown that all you do for the final encounter is kill a bunch of normal trash enemies.
Yeah I loved the first Rage game!!! I note a few games have that sort of approach for the last boss.... just have waves of enemies ... Killzone 2 had that as well.... super annoying
Ohhhh yeaaaaa! I love Rage! I've started replaying it again recently tho the entire time I've been vaguely recalling this deep dissatisfaction with it, but couldn't possibly recall why. This is why.
The thing that always annoyed me about Rage is, the point where the game ENDS actually really feels like exactly the point where the game should just be truly getting started. Like up to then it feels like you were playing the prologue chapter, and NOW the real beef of the game is supposed to be there.....but that's it, it's just over.
Not just the boss but the pacing of the story was disappointing. Its like they cut out the middle section of the game and they left only the starting area then the final area. First you run around doing small errands then suddenly put you to siege heavily fortified base alone.
Rage Part 1 was SICK. Terribly underrated and hated on for some reason Only God Knows Why. I can't say much about the final boss, because I don't remember it, which right there goes to show that it was in fact disappointing, compared to the rest of this awesome game which I played like going on 10 years ago yet I can remember it like it was yesterday
Honestly for me I’d say Aldiun. He’s known as the World Eater and seemed like his boss fight would be one for the ages with how they built it up. But his boss fight was really easy, I’m not sure if it was because of you having the other Champions who originally sent him forward into time join you in the fight. I honestly was not impressed. Tsun the literal demigod like character who guards the halls of Sovngarde honestly felt like a much more difficult fight.
Alduin from Skyrim should've been on the list. In adition to that terrifying prologue where you really fear that horrifying black HUGE dragon, all through out the game you are being told about him as the "Worlds' Eater" the elder of all dragons that you will have to defeat!! And the hype keeps building and building where the game even gives you supposedly three of the world's best warriors to help in the battle, at that moment I distintinctly remember my hands shaking from the thrill of anticipation for the glorious impossible battle ahead... But then the fight starts, and I could swear that the Alduin we got in the fight was much smaller than what we've seen in the prologue, and the fight itself was disappointing and just so ease, Alduin was easier than most enemies and dragons that I came up against in the game, and I only played main quests, so I wasn't really that op when I fought him
@Seer-of-things end Honestly, you should give it a chance, it's really good. My last Far Cry was 3, so maybe if you've played all the other newer ones it's too samey but after such a long time I really enjoyed 6. And you can totally ignore the supremos and pets if you don't like them.
Vaas wasn't even in the original plan for Far cry 3, Micheal Mando went in to audition for another character in the game but he didn't fit that character, but Ubisoft liked Michael's audition so much that they created Vaas just for him to voice. Just a fun fact lol
”Drake, stand your ground like a man!” I don’t know how many times I heard that phrase... but I finally beat him very easily because of a known glitch lol
I never played Uncharted 2, but the description of that fight already sounds much better than the shite that capped the first game. At least you have to run and be skillful when you shoot, instead to getting 3 QTEs and job done.
yeah dont even get me started on the rais quicktime event. speedruning up the skyscraper, feeling that adrenaline, not knowing what was gonna happen at the top, and being met with whats, in my opinion, one of the biggest letdowns in gaming, was....just sad lmao. dying light was so good, too. ill never understand why they didnt just make it an actual boss fight, maybe one that scales with your survivor level so hed still be hard if youre op. we fight his goons 1v1 multiple times, and there are other boss type enemies in the game, complete with arena and on screen health bar. literally fuck them for not letting me just cut Rais's head off cause fuck i wanted to so bad
Yeah that Uncharted 2 end boss was intense you had to basically hope he did not shot one of those sap things when you were nearby ... it was a war of attrition you basically end up going round and round this arena ... basically choose to take him on on the tree bridge sap .... its the only place he is hedged .... what was funny though was the end after that fight you had to run along a bridge .... I thought it was over onto a cutscene until the bridge started to collapse not realising you actually have to run......
I should also add that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time also had a very dissapointing final boss The Vizier was hyped throughout the game to be this crazy magician who wants to destroy the world with the Dagger, and when you finally fight him he just stands in front of you, with invincibility, and spawns a single clone of himself that you can just infinitely somersault over to kill in 20 seconds, and he spawns a clone 3 times in total, then he’s dead with one attack from your sword
King Allant has a story behind him, because he lost all his powers, similar to the final one on Dark Souls. But at least there, the guy fights you, on Demon’s, Allant is just totally gone.
It was actually a tough boss. The problem came from grinding the monster arena. It made you way too overpowered by the time you actually wanted to finish the game.
I still haven't watch the video but I'm sure Fable 2 final boss have to be in this TOP. Edit: well I don't blame then for not putting that boss fight, since it wasn't even a fight, the only thing you do is a press A and you win
Right I mean he was called CALAMITY Gannon and almost destroyed hyrule and critically injuring Link. The only thing calamitous about the boss fight was how underwhelming he was
That's a particularly odd case too because simply playing the game as intended (defeating the guardians) gimps the final boss to such a degree that it's laughably easy. They could have done something better with his "final form" too. For as cool as it looked, there was basically no way to lose.
Anyone ever play Kung Fu panda back in the day? The entire final boss was one very Very VERY long QTE. You miss a single button and the whole thing restarts. Man it sucked
Special mention to Dying Light 1 when you fight Rais 1v1. You spend the entire game learning your way to move around quickly and efficiently, fighting with utmost precision and timing, developing skills and arsenals for any and all occasions...and it comes down to a pure quick-time event that uses just about no skill or experience you've had till that point.
Army of Two. During the game you have little encounters with this other mercenary that is suposed to be as strong as you and your mate are. But when you reach the final stage, he turns out to be no different than a regular enemy. Still loved the game.
Borderlands definitely stepped up their final boss game in the 2nd Borderlands because while The Destroyer was a little bitch The Warrior was a pain in the ass. I soloed The Destroyer first try like pretty much everyone else but it took me 12 tries to finally beat The Warrior by myself.
To be honest, I think Konstantin would be better for a bad final boss. The Oni warrior is actually pretty cool because you mainly fight ranged enemies through the majority of the game, so having what feels like a dark souls boss is a pretty good change of pace. Dominguez was also great because first you have the sneaking part, and then it becomes a one-on-one fight with him. But Konstantin, you literally just run around and throw cans to a place, sneak up on him two times and it's done. Honestly, he had so much potential, and they just decided to ruin that
Bro I remember as a kid being stuck DAYS on the Uncharted 2 final boss. I just literally didn't know what to do until I had to ask my Uncle to come over and figure out why this guys isn't taking any damage and how to beat him lmfaooooo such a great game terrible ending.
Same here, and to think I had to buy an Xbox 360 to play that game -_- At this point, I think Molyneaux lost the magic that made Fable: TLC great. Should have just made it a 1 and done game as 3 wasn't all that great either.
In my everyday life I don’t get to play games very often but I always know I can look forward to a video from you guys to get my gaming fix. Thank you and keep up the good work.
No Crash Bandicoot 2? That final boss can be beaten in 15 seconds and is a slow jetpack chase. The thing has a massive build up throughout the game for 15 seconds of slow boredom
Eredin - there are three more difficult, interesting bosses in the Witcher 3 DLC, and even Eredin’s lieutenant, Caranthir, is a harder and more interesting fight in the base game.
You're comparing the final boss to post development DLC? What? And of course, you wreck Eredin. Not only are you in your final build, but he's just a douchebag elf in some spooky armor. There's nothing special about him from a lore standpoint.
You preferred Fontaine from Bioshock 1? Now that was terrible. Not every game needs a “final boss”. Ken Levine admitted in at least one interview that Irrational wasn’t good at boss fights, and Take Two basically forced them to put one at the end of the first game. In the end, it turned out to be the one blemish in an otherwise perfect game, so from then on, they just resorted to hordes. It may not be as cinematic, but at least it gets the job done without harming the game.
@@ulyssesocounter8488 : I admire their honesty but after a captivating adventure like that, you need some sort of final showdown to make it all seem like it had purpose. Once the narrative starts to really come together, overcoming the enemy that was responsible for all these intersecting paths of loss, tragedy, and insanity becomes something you greatly anticipate. Even if it was a mediocre boss fight I think we should have gotten something.
@@ulyssesocounter8488 I meant Bioshock 1. For some reason I was thinking that boss fight was from 2. I guess after so many years things aren't fresh in my memory anymore. Getting old :)
Never understood the hate for Lazarevich´s boss fight, always found it ingenious for what it was. Especially considering the developers could have done a qte boss like in Uncharted 3 and Golden Abyss.
The thing is with Lazarevich is that he's both hard AND boring. If he was just a QTE boss then he'd just be boring, but fighting him on crushing is one of the most infuriating things I've ever done in a game.
@@brettdueck824 I did, but if I remeber correctly, you had to use specific ammo or explosives which ran out and you had to resupply, the scenario was also pretty dull. In Uncharted 2 you were always on edge because you were constanly running and the enviroment was everchanging, thus it never became repetive to me, quite the contrary it became more stressful lol.
For me the worst final boss will always be in tomb raider 2. You fight a helicopter...thats it. The game was so good until that one part. You expect this cool ancient monster like the first one and then youre just disappointed. Atleast SOTR had a really cool final boss
I just finished Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous, and the battles leading up TO the final battle are 15000 times harder than the actual two final "bosses".
For me it was the dishonored boss. He was on a catwalk and as soon as I did the teleport move to him and hit one time he just fell off and that was it. I was thinking damn can I get a do over?
My #1 would be Immortals Fenyx Rising final boss: Typhon. For context, when I reached the boss, I had upgrade Fenix almost to the maximum in everything. And the problem is that it makes Fenix absolutly overpowered. So when I get to Typhon, I completly destroyed the poor bastard. Like, in seconds. There is no fun in that.
I woulda guessed that Bioshock 1 would be on this list. I know a lotta people who don't like the final boss there. Then there's also Batman Arkham Asylum. Titan Joker is a real let down.
Completing the Uncharted 2 boss on Crushing mode was indeed crushing, I only realized afterwards, after seeing a video that you could just "cheat" through the entire boss fight..
I'll defend the Doom 3 Cyberdemon fight! I loved the idea that the Cyberdemon was so badass your normal weapons couldn't touch him, so you have to dodge his attacks while charging the soul cube. Shocked to see this mentioned here, never knew this was such a controversial fight!
The final encounter with The Didact in Halo 4 was so disappointing. They introduced him into the game and he basically rag dolled Chief with ease and I was looking forward to taking him down the entire game. And they made it a QTE. 4 buttons to win. Garbage.
Another excellent example is Adam smasher from cyberpunk. Due to him having a 50% weakness to electric damage and simply having a somewhat low amount of hit points. What makes it even funnier is that some random gangsters and cops are much stronger than him.
Can't believe you left out Lucien from Fable 2. Huge build up to him making the "Wish" tower just to be guild by a single hit or letting what's his face shot him after getting bored of Lucien speech.
How can you forget Lucian Fairfax from Fable 2? You finally go to fight him and all it takes is a single shot to finish him, hell you could do nothing and one of your allies will get annoyed and shoot him for you.
I always thought the final showdown with the Old One cathartic, and sad… seeing his pathetic true form? It just kind of ties the bigger game together…. And I personally loved it. But from a strictly gamer perspective? Yeah… not the final nod you want to face… even on a narrative level.
Surprised they didn't mention the seneschal out of Dragon's Dogma. All of the game's human sized bosses are pretty bad and can be easily one-shot on any difficulty, and the seneschal (the omnipotent keeper of the world) is no different apart from the multiple phases, cinematic elements, and big reveal. Still an amazing game and that fight at least has an incredible song to go with it.
I don’t mind the QuickTime fights. In certain games I think it adds to the story to have a curated ending to a story with what basically equates to an interactive cutscene, if they can make it intense enough it’s fine for me.
When I saw the games that were in the video I was like: DUDE! FFX FINAL BATTLE IS AMAZING, WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT?! Then I realized that I had forgotten the REAL final battle lol
Half Life 1 should get a mention. The whole time you are fighting this giant alien baby he keeps teleporting you in rooms that are annoying to get out of. Black Mesa did a way better job of the fight.
I was disappointed that Marauder Shields or the Starbrat from Mass Effect 3 didn't make it on this list. Esp after 1 and 2 did final boss battles pretty well.
I was pretty disappointed by the confrontation with sauron in shadow of mordor. I didn't want to go against the dark master, the lord of the rings, with a qte.
Should have mentioned Evil Gaia from the first Grandia game, which is almost impossible to lose to even if you tried to lose on purpose. The last boss in Grandia II (Zera Valmar) is also very easy compared to some of the bosses you face right before (especially Valmar's Core).
Haha, fun fact, here. I've only played 1 game on this list, and it is absolutely in my top ten wrist fight list, and I make it worse every time I fight it. Yu Ye on passing my summons is a weirdly cathartic part of that game for me. Like, it's the last time I'm going to see them in a playthrough, so I go down the list of summons summoning them and using their overdrives. So I don't just watch the summon animation once. I have to watch it twice and their overdrive. For every summon. Magus sisters included. Does that make me a masochist?
Dying light was a pretty great game with a very disappointing boss. Rais the warlord who ruled his men with an iron fist and when it came down to fighting him it was all done via QTE which left me a bit disapointed.
Fallout New Vegas was similiar. You fight through hordes of legion soldiers, only to find an enemy a few Red Glare shots can take out. All the dlc bosses were great, so it felt a bit wierd.
Was surprised not to see the helicopter from the Division. I mean the whole game was pretty disappointing, but literally fighting a generic helicopter as your final boss was so lame.
Yu Yevon was a story based boss battle. It was more symbolic than an actual fight. It made sense story wise. And after a 4 part massive boss, then Seymour for the last time, yet another final fight wasn't really needed.
The Halo 4 final boss is my hated QTE final boss. I was thinking I was going to fight a more powerful version of MC but it's just a few button presses to win and that's it.
I really enjoyed the uncharted two final boss but it took me soo many attempts and I nearly gave up because of how frustrating it was. I was stuck on the last two phases for ages until I had to search up how to beat it lol.
