yes, we knew greatness when we saw it coming, that being said Indie Gaming is so good nowadays because it's gamers making games that they would want to play, not games that people TEND to play and would pay hand over fist to obtain. this is what separates Indie companies from AAA Brand Names, and what will forever separate them.
Wasn’t really Kickstarter but I bought into the early access of Stardew Valley and The Long Dark. There’s a strange sense of pride in seeing how far they’ve both come
I loved Shenmue 3 despite most people finding it tedious and too slow-paced Maybe it's because I'm used to taking my sweet time with games but that wasn't a problem to me.
A lot of the criticism came from them taking 20m of the fans money to finish the story, and yknow, not finishing the story. It didn't evolve at all from the previous installments, for both good and bad.
@@Dave_ja_vu tbf it was roughly 8 million from the fans and a good chunk of that had to go to merch and logistics rather than development. The remaining 12 million came from Deep Silver and, almost certainly, Epic. This also includes marketing costs which can often be more than dev costs (doubt it in this case, but just throwing it out there). All that aside, Yu warned people like a million times before, during, and after the campaign that a Shenmue 3 would not wrap up the story. And frankly, anyone that actually played 1 & 2 already knew there could be no satisfactory way to end the story with only one more installment. The idea that 3 doesn't advance the story enough is a legitimate criticism, but not ending the story entirely isn't.
I was 100% behind Yooka Laylee as Banjo Kazooie is one of my all time favourite games and even I was disappointed in what I played. Still fire up my N64 more than I do play Yooka.
Of the games on this list, I backed Broken Age, Bloodstained and Shovel Knight. I was delighted with all of them. I also backed Mighty No. 9 and upon receiving it I decided that I'll never back another game on Kickstarter. If something looks really good and gets funded, I'll just buy the product upon release. I did that with Undertale and it remains one of my favorite games of all time.
Even if Yooka-Laylee disappointed you, I strongly recommend playing Impossible Lair. Basically a new Donkey Kong Country game and it's almost as good as Tropical Freeze.
I did the Shenmue III Kickstarter, still haven't played it. Now I have no lack of drastically discounted ways of playing it through Xbox Game Pass and the latest Humble Choice.
I have backed several game on kickstarter and been pleasantly surprised at the games I end up getting . Currently I am waiting for the Beta of Omno, coming this year
Been with y'all since WaterCloset days...through the "OMG enough with the fucking tat" days....and into your current era of just straight quality content. Well done boys. 👍💜
I played ritual of the night and it was good. Music was amazing very reminiscent of sympathy of the night. I encourage anyone to play bloodstained ritual of the night, u can spend like 5 hours in the shop area cooking shit up like I did lol I had over 30 hours in that game
I haven’t watched the video yet but hollow knight better be here at less top 3 Edit: sadly it didn’t make it but I believe it is better than most of the games in this list. But great list anyway!
The only one of these I backed is Shenmue 3. I didn't play much since it was exclusive to Epic on release. I'll have to give it another go now it's on Steam. Also the protagonist is named Ryo, not Ryu.
Have you tried Yooka-Laylee's sequel, the Impossible Lair? It's a truly great side scroller in the vein of DKC. If you were disappointed by the first game, I'd definitely recommend it.
Yeah, games like Darkest Dungeon, the Divinity: Original Sin games, or Elite Dangerous probably would have been better entries, even though I don't particularly care for them. Or Octodad Deadliest Catch, which I think is great.
where's hollow knight??????????? because your title says "10 Of The Best Kickstarted Video Games Ever" not "10 of the most expensive kickstarter video games ever"
