My favorite PS3 moment is still happening! They offerFREE Online gaming! You dont have to pay a subscription fee in order to play online. I still use it to this day! That set them apart from the competition for me.
@@pupsiuspupuliukas2394 I always assumed Sony and its competitors collaborated with that idea, saying, if we ALL (Xbox, Nintendo etc.) do this, we'll earn more and the consumer has no other option.
@@YourFrienjamin I would have thought so as well. The internet should be free to access so looks like peolle are willing ot pay for it so they are willing to pay for online gaming...
The best thing about the PS3 was its capability as a Blu-ray player. In the early days of the format, Sony went through at least half a dozen iterations where they would add new features that made previous generations of standalone players obsolete (DTS HDMA/Dolby TrueHD compatibility and Wifi/ethernet support for BD-Live features to name a few). The PS3 came fully-loaded with all this stuff and it seemed that anything it didn't already support could be added via a firmware update. Not to mention it was never plagued by the disc compatibility and slow-loading problems suffered by some standalone players. I still use my "Fat" PS3 60GB as my primary BD player. Hardly ever use it for games.
Shoot, my favorite PS3 moments started when mom surprised us with one at Christmas 2008. What makes it awesome was that she won it at her company Christmas party and were barely making end’s meet at the time, some man offered her $500 for it and she refused by saying “no, my kids deserve this.” That PS3 is something I will always cherish. It served as our first Blu-Ray player, and even we had tons of family nights playing Guitar Hero World Tour on it. Athough, I rarely gamed on it during it’s prime because I wasn’t old enough to play games like GTA, CoD, Bioshock, Red Dead, etc. Technically I was around 13 when those games were popular but my mom wasn’t big on me playing shooters. It was either NBA 2k or whatever superhero or liscensed game came out, in which I never cared much to play. So with that, I prefered to just go to the park with my buddies and get better at basketball everyday. Plus, when I got into high school around 2011 or so, I really didn’t have an interest in gaming mainly due to playing sports or always at the mall getting girl’s numbers. LOL. Now, when I turned 17 back in late 2013, that’s when GTA 5 first launched. I remember the only way I could get my hands on that game was either steal it or get a job. I got a job. I remember always having to rush after football practice for like 3 weeks just go to work. When my paycheck got in, it was like $265, I quit that job, thinking I was rich, I remained in football and played the shit out of that PS3 from then on. Back then I had never thought games would look better than what GTA 5 pulled off. I remember playing hours and hours of GTA Online with my best friend, demolishing people on Black Ops 2, binge playing throughout the whole Uncharted series. What was so cool was that even though some of these games were a bit past their prime by the time I started playing them, I was finally old enough to appreciate them. I am thankful for that Christmas party my mom went to. Had she not, I doubt I would have ever gotten one.
T H E C Y N D I C A T E I agree with you, but at #6 he goes as far as to say the military let it autoupgrade, while a group of scientists studying black holes who set up a similar setup did not. I don't know where he is getting that info, though.
This and the fact that the government was recently selling a bunch of PS3s with stock firmware I saw in a video on hacked firmwares with old updates with the channel buying one of these PS3s. Also they probably installed their own OS so they probably never even booted into PS3 OS again afterwards until removing their own prior to disposal or resale.
military : i will buy 2k PS3 with tax money and use them as super computer and try to take over the world Sony: update (3.2.1) installed successfully enjoy your game
I'm sure that if it were the case that the consoles had their firmware updated, the US government would have contacted Sony to have them revert the update for these consoles. Come on, we're talking about one of the most powerful nations on Earth.
adil faz I'm playing Yakuza 5 and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep on mine. It's also the only way to play quite a few older games that were on the PS1 and PS2 without paying up to $200 on a used copy.
Gameranx you inspired me to become a game designer and my dream is to have one of my games featured on your channel keep inspiring people and being the best gaming channel ever
I mained a 360 for most of last gen, but once I went to PS3, I never went back. That console, software and accessories were God tier. Didn't come with all the headaches of the 360 either.
alpha_x legend 'Twas nice too. Love the PS3. Got a lot of use out of it and still use it to this day. When I'm not on PS2, PS4 or occasionally the 360. That PS1 backwards compatibility was ✔ too
Ah the PS3, the console that has given me so much fun, it brings a tear to my eye that it has been here for so long. I still have mine, and I always have a smile on my face as I remember the joy I had with it. I've always been a PS fan, and I still will be a fan.
Being able to plug in any flash drive or phone and transfer my dl'd tv shows and movies to the hard drive was mind blowing to me. Having a massive library of my favorite shit to watch that played games?!? .....heaven.
Same. I got a PS3 a few days ago and it's mind-blowing to me because I only had a shitty old laptop before. Finally being able to play games properly -- and so many of them -- feels so awesome!
My favourite moment was getting Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and joining the GT Academy where I placed high enough to be happy with myself. At the time, those were phenomenal graphics and GT has always been the best racing simulator in the world.
The ability to play a game on the couch and also browse porn without moving. Yep, Klenex and lube companies made a killing with the release of the PS3 :)
The original Sixaxis controllers were also see through. The original PS3 has some ports under a flap that wasn't in any other version of the console (only the 60GB version) which included an SD card slot.
Great video. I still have my PS3 and it was the way I discovered many PS1 classics. I also use my PS3 as my go to Blu-ray 3D player. Also love the fact Sony made it easy to upgrade the hard drive. I easily able to upgrade my PS3 with a 1 TB hybrid drive.
The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.
They didn't make a profit at all on the hardware. None. They lost money on every console they made for those four years. The profit came on software sales, accessory sales, attraction to the Sony brand for sales of other Sony items, and consoles that were made and sold after they had improved their manufacturing process.
I love my PS3. I have a 320GB slim model that I play RPGs and adventure games on. I'm happy that they still make games for the PS3 with the launch of new titles. You can play Persona 5 on it and even a lot of newer xseed titles.
I loved how well the ps3 was as a media box. It was able to play a bunch of video formats my xbox 360 couldn't. Free online multiplayer and was able to watch blu-ray disks. I still remember watching FF7 advent children on it. Gud times.
Why? Everyone has different tastes. Why is that sad? You play what you like and don't worry about what other people like. It's like saying "It's so sad that people now adays don't have good taste for trucks and they only drive Chevy and Nissan and other bullshit." Get over yourself.
ΑΛΕΞΗΣ ΠΕΡΙΒΟΛΑΡΗΣ GTA online was a good game, but 8 Y. o. CoD tryhards ruined it. Fortnite was fun, but then again it became mainstream around Season 3 and CoD tryhards invaded it, Epic Games saw that their audience is slowly getting full of kids so they started to make the game family-friendly resulting in 3 different dab emotes, adding bad Vines & Memes to the game, and making it luck-based.
John Crafton a reason why it’s annoying is because games like for example CoD and BF are now focusing on battle royale and stuff like that instead of big companies focusing on single player games with good stories.
My favorite PS3 moments was when I first linked my psp and PS3 and all I could do is look at the home screen. Then I just decided to jailbreak my psp and play Metroid fusion and I was happy again.
Something I wasn’t aware of for the 360 until a few years ago: the original 360 (white box with external hard drive and no WiFi red ring of death - yeah, that one) is actually compatible with the Kinect. You have to get a certain cord, but it works. That tells me MS was planning WAY ahead with the initial release of the 360.
Actually over the years, Sony removed PS2 compatibility in terms of hardware, but not in terms of software. Games like psychonauts (an amazing and interesting game, I may add) could be played if you bought it from the PSN store.
I've been with PlayStation since I got my PSone for my 5th birthday in 1995! The PS3 was the console that changed my life forever! I was able to make lifelong friends thanks to the PS3 & it's PlayStation Network. The PS3 also gave me some of the BEST gaming experiences of my life! Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare was the first online game that I actually played religiously & realized I can have so much fun playing online with friends & Black Ops Zombies was another landmark PS3 moment as myself and 3 closest friends would spend HOURS doing Easter eggs & stuff lol then there's my favorite part of the PlayStation 3 & that's the brilliant games that can't be played anywhere else! Resistance 1/2/3, Uncharted 1/2/3, infamous, infamous 2, infamous festival of blood (best DLC ever), little big planet 2, killzone 2, God of War 3 & the coup de gras for me was The Last of Us! The PS3 will go down in history as the Console that brought PlayStation into the High Definition online multiplayer world! Happy gaming ✌️
recently bought a backwards compatible ps3, cost a pretty penny, but well worth it. It brought a lot of life back into my ps2 collection and the controls feel a lot smoother.
It should be renamed from "10 PS3 facts you probably didn't know" to "10 PS3 facts you probably knew but forgot and then we made a video saying you didn't know and you were like "Oh yeah, I remember that" and we just got your views" lol
Mykel Hardin, sure I know nothing about computers... Man 10 cores for 20 threads, maybe you need some benchmark? cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i9-7900X-vs-Intel-Core-i7-8700K/3936vs3937 If the game handle multicore, I9 is better!
Nope. It's an attempt to see if a game streaming service will work. The end goal is to move all games to digital streaming, so PS Now is a program Sony is using to determine how to do that successfully. So...not a scam. Useful? Not really. Worth the money? Nope. Even so, it's an honest attempt at a business model that may eventually be useful for customers.
Not true. Not true AT ALL. The PS4 can play PS3 games under two circumstances: 1) Through emulation (it's powerful enough), or 2) Through streaming using a service like PS NOW. Yes, the Cell processors are hard to emulate, but not impossible.
MadGingerGaming oh yeah man I tried after like 6 years of having the slim, I was really surprised and kinda scared by the noise haha.also apparently some batch os ps3s don have a light in tge on/off and eject button? I saw a friend's ps and the ducking buttons had a white light! ! My ps3 has the same buttons but maybe for being a newer midel yet the slim, the lights arent wired or something. Idk I read, it was to save power or something ,google it
Mr. Fruity Pebbles because you have a backwards compatable model. The BC PS3 actually had a PS2 inside it because the PS3 was not capable of reliably emulating PS2 games. They later removed that hardware to cut costs. You bought one before they removed it. It hardware features that allowed that not software so it’s not something they could take away.
@@jovhannyfeliciano7179 thats different, when you buy and download PS2 games from the store, that was sony re-coding those games to make them work on any PS3 console, same with the PS1 games that you buy and download from the store
Hello, this is gonna sound out of place but I gotta say this. One of the reasons I love your channel so much is because you don't care about that 10 minute bullshit to make more money. You keep your videos entertaining and to the point and I applaud you for that. Keep up the good work!
