10:21 "Oh dear, you are dead!" Andrew's personality, shaped by the time and place in England he grew up, is ingrained in early RS/RS2. The way the early NPCs spoke, including the lack of commas where they should've been, were part of the charm that grew on me 20 years ago. I see a little bit of that in the _Brighter Shores_ trailer, which gives me high hopes for the game. My only minor nitpick is that its music (judging by the trailer) will be generic, whereas the early RS themes were unforgettable melodies with unique sound design (not even the RS3 remake music captured that magic).

You know i get RuneScape being grindy, but it's the long, long term rewards that makes that game so popular.

Great video! You definitely convinced me to try it out. I didn't realize the other brothers joined in as well. I'm a little conflicted on the Auto play, it'll be interesting to see how they balance the game around everyone "botting". And surprised you didn't mention the existence of Old School Runescape. It's pretty thriving right now and checks a lot of the boxes you mentioned. Seems like they'll be in pretty direct competition.

I appreciate the Gower bros. work on RS' base, but everything I like about OSRS was made by the OSRS dev team. They really gave this simple game great depth. I'm still curious to try this out - looks pretty chill.

You need brighter shores to be grindy to live longterm! Skill levels and grind is important!

Hey dude, i remember that interview for the 20th anniversary. i thought it was so sad what he went through. i don't care he got a lot of money for his shares it just sucks runescape would have turned out better than it is now currently if he had creative control, but he will make this best out what he has now and make a very good game for us to play later this year or hopefully sooner :) also i play minecraft it went down hill slowly after notch sold to Microsoft and now has all this MTX in it etc. At least Andrew's game will be something good, and notch's game seems like his experimenting again, and notch needs to make space minecraft or something for me to take him seriously again. 😂

As a huge fan of TTRPGs, I really hope this game scratches the itch on those late weekend nights.

The grind can be one of the best elements if the reward is worth it and there is no way to buy your way to the same reward. I spent many school nights grinding iron ores to reach level 85 and mine rune in the Legends' Guild-good old days. Additionally, there is the element of competition; my friends and I would compete to see who could reach a higher level first, and more broadly, who could climb the high scores table. The issue with grinding arises the moment any form of pay-to-win (P2W) is introduced into a game, as more often than not, the value of your time spent in-game is always superseded by real life. Why spend months grinding towards something you could just purchase after a week of real-life work?

Crighter shores has to have grinds, getting those levels is satisfying. And brighter shores will sadly never be a "smash hit mmo", its just not the type, even tho I will play it.

I'm absolutely iving this a shot. This is just beta gameplay. Hoping to see bigger areas that what is shown here.

Witcher is an incredible game. But best ever is a big stretch lol.

I want this to be good. I can't get over how small and linear it looks, and the background just being black is a real turnoff.

The instance gameplay like temple trecking looks really lame. Not even open world. I'll give it a try, but i doubt it will do good. Very nieche.

I don't really like the setting. Also I'm not a big fan of the artstyle, because it reminds me of Rs3...
