It was easy driving almost all over the United States including the outskirts of Texas until I got into Dallas. Road construction is a never-ending thing, but I don't think they improve the situation, but have turned it into a nightmare... multiple loops...roads with four lanes.. getting stuck on toll roads....missing an exit and having to spend 10+ minutes trying to correct the mistake.

Dallas and Texas in general has geography as an advantage over other parts of the country. It's centrally located, it doesn't snow, and it's flat. Now flat may be boring, but it makes home building a whole lot easier and cheaper. The availability and cost of land is the biggest factor in the cost of homes. Homes use to be affordable in Southern California, before we built over all the orange groves and strawberry fields. Plus we have mountains. But Texas is one great big state. And it's nearly all flat. So you've got a long way to go before you run out of building space. Good luck with your growth!

We're retired and pay no property tax, in addition to no state income tax. Food, gas utilities are cheap here - house is all electric so our bill varies from $70-$190 per month, water $75.00 and this is for 3 people. Being older, we appreciate all the great hospitals and medical care. And we haven't had any snow or ice for over 3 years. It's April and I'm already growing peppers, onions and tomatoes. Dallas is not perfect and is very crowded now, so find yourself a quiet area if possible.

I love living in Dallas. There’s never a single boring night and there are so many restaurants you can go years without eating at the same place. The weather is great in the autumn and for those summers, there’s a plethora of lakes and even an Indoor waterpark in Grand Prairie you can cool off in. The music scene here is crazy and the jobs are endless. The suburbs of Dallas, especially Irving, are exploding with new Houses and highway systems. The city is open to any political opinion as you have a peaceful mix of Liberals and Conservatives. Rich in Hispanic culture and African American culture as well. Museums and amusement parks are abundant as well. Fort Worth is a half hour away and have fantastic restaurants as well. Literally anything you can think of. Dallas has it. I was born in this city in ‘99 and I hope i die here too.

You must not understand how things work "mof ucka." What about DFW humbles you anyway? If your talking about the nice people, they had to move away for health reasons. Now it's a cesspool. If anything don't move to DFW because it's not safe for your health. Yes people are very stupid to think that DFW is some escape. Austin is already bursting at the seams with Californians. The truth is we're running out of land, and with the city's filling up and over flowing this entire country will eventually be one giant city. Really pisses me off that so many people are still having kids on purpose knowing this. I left DFW 2 years ago because drugs, general crime and murder were everywhere. I couldn't even go to the grocery store with out something insane happening in town. The law enforcement has been dirty for decades. Most of the cops (Not all) are drug fueled killers. They will absolutely break the law and do what ever they want whenever they want. And get away with it. Rent for rich people is cheap but if you make under 20 an hour you'll starve pal and if you don't want to penny pinch and have fun here you better make big bucks. Minimum wage is still $7.25 and the cost of living is only low compared to those living in NY or Paris btw. It's the poor rich mans town. The roads/traffic is worse than ever because of road rage is on the rise. I had a gun pointed at me more than once in a single year and that seamed to be nut jobs who were running everyone off the road. Check the local news, it's all death corruption and murder. lol Look up the "Wild dog" problem in Dallas. The packs of wild dogs running the streets have killed. You'll also be smack dab in the middle of one of the biggest and oldest hot spots for fracing. People there are very very sick. They mention us in both of the Gas Land docs. Heck I've seen them frack up against the high rises in down town. They do put up sound proof panels to be polite so I guess that's a plus. Not to mention the fault line that goes right under the middle of DFW that they are fracing, so now there are earthquakes...So you have that to look forward to. Oh yeah the weather is some of the most extreme weather on this planet in north Texas. Sure it's MOSTLY a dry heat but when it's 117 degrees like 100 days in a row and you start to feel like you have radiation poisoning and are going blind and the people on the tv come on and tell you not to go outside, the Humidity doesn't matter. Alot of Aussies call North Texas home because the landscape and environment are so similar to Australia, except our Tornadoes and Smog. Heath insurance is unattainable if your employer doesn't provide it and most places that pay under 20 dollars an hour do not. Even if you have insurance, the care that's provided is usually shit. They also have some of the best health care if you've got moola comin' out your wazoo. Every part of society is corrupted there. God forbid you hit a little snag in your life while living in DFW because there will not be help and they will destroy you. I'm actually from there, I love the land but it's destroyed and the people are insane and violent. I live in the middle of no where and never leave my house because of the horrors I've witnessed all my life there. Sure it's bad everywhere, but every aspect of your life will be different if you've never lived in North Texas before and suddenly move there. Dallas has the highest number of people living 185 percent below the poverty line of any American city and the second highest number of people living 100 percent below the poverty line. Dallas’ median income has declined since 1989. Over half of Dallas households make less than $50,000 per year, and 28.6 percent make less than $25,000. Less than 20 percent of jobs are accessible by transit in less than 90 minutes, and more than 70 percent of HUD assisted properties are unaffordable when housing and transportation costs are combined. Over 27,300 residents live in poverty despite having full-time employment. Compared with other Texas cities, Dallas has the highest percentage of individuals without a high school diploma and the lowest percentage of residents who hold college degree. 48 percent of single mothers in Dallas live in poverty. Five zip codes in southern Dallas, west Dallas, and northwest Dallas have teen birth rates similar to Burkina Faso, the Gambia, and Somalia. 38 percent of Dallas children live in poverty, 20 percent have no health insurance, 28 percent have inadequate food and nutrition, 160,000 children are obese, and 60,000 have asthma. (From the neurotoxins and general smog in the air. )

Dallas is an easy city to live in. If you can't make it in Dallas you are just not trying. I agree it's getting crowded here but not as nearly as crowded as NYC, L.A, or Chi-town. Oh and b.t.w. don't believe the "dry -heat" comment, that's simply not true. The humidity is about the ONLY thing I DON'T like about living here.. August is BRUTAL, but the weather makes up for it in September, October and November.

Basically, you'll want to stick between I-30/US 80 and US 380 and east of TX 360. As for Denton, it's a nice place, but it is a college town, and it shows. Lots of student housing, and a cultural landscape dominated by the two colleges in town (mostly UNT, but TWU to a lesser extent). And, the Vibe, Urban Planning & ESP. the traffic (yes, heavy...but it moves) just seemed better. I also second all the other stuff that this video mentioned, although I didn't go to the TX fair.

Nice to see my home city on here ! I was born and raised here and I’ve seen it grow and grow and grow... I’ve always known it was just kinda cool to be here. I’m sure I will never leave however it’s been good to me. I do have a summer home in Florida on the coast but Dallas will always be home ! The heat is not that bad and it’s just real hot a few months out of the year.. but dry tho. If you like motorcycles you will have one here. Seems to have cooled some in recent years I say. Still there is always something to do and it’s never boring. Great video. Ps: if you can’t find a job here you don’t belong here! Period :)

Exactly, worst city in Texas by far. Not even worth checking the Texas Hill Country out at all. Ugly urban sprawl in pretty much Austin to a T. Best place to live in Texas is DFW area, no question. The great East Texans make it the perfect place to settle down. Avoid Austin.

bauhaus Austin the fabled ugly land of billboards, strip plazas, pawnshops, seedy bars, and overhead power lines.

I moved from Wisconsin to the North suburbs of Dallas in 2019. I ended up moving back to Wisconsin but really enjoyed by time there. The summers are hot (in Wisconsin we think mid 80's is hot) but there is so much opportunity and things to do.

I lived in Dallas for seven years (98-04) - moved there from New Zealand for work assignment. Really enjoyed my time in the Big 'D' - met some really great people, shared more than a few margaritas with many of them. Live in Sydney, Australia now.Want to return to Dallas and take a look - have heard that it has changed dramatically in the 13 years I've been gone. Want to go pay my respects to Fuddruckers and Dickeys BBQ Pit. Loved Deep Ellum and Lower Greenville (Blue Goose Cantina) .Biggest regret I had in leaving was not getting my US Citizenship (had Greencard status but this expired once I was off US soil for 12 months).Go Stars!Hopefully I qualify as being an Honorary Texan having done seven-years Hard-Labour there!

Yeah, at one time I begged the universe to let me live in Dallas. I loved it. It's not what I thought before I saw the city for the first time. Instead, it's clean, bigger than big, and more green than I expected. The shopping is second to none. It's an easy metroplex to navigate (unlike Portland where I live now). I didn't realize their public transportation system was as good as you pointed out -- good to know. The bugs can be HUGE however and even with their gigantic size, they still run for cover into the baseboards as I horrifyingly witnessed in a Ft. Worth gas station restroom one time. And yes, I screamed. The shock factor was too much for me to hold back. Great city, though.
