I'm a native of Fort Worth, Texas. I've lived in California and Mississippi and have traveled many places. Texas beats them all. Especially the cost of living.
Learn a simple rule to drive in Texas .Drive slow use right lane .Drive speed limit stay in center lane .Unless your doing 10 to 15 miles over the speed limit . Stay out of the left lane
But some of those people hogging the fast lane and who force you to pass them on the right actually act like they are mad at you for passing them! Why are they surprises when someone runs up on their bumper? The fast lane is for driving FAST and staying ahead of the person behind you. If they are faster than you, get out of the fast lane. We have had folks in that fast lane chase us to catch up and then get in front of us and “brake check” us. You got to watch for angry drivers here.
I was raised and born here in Texas in Fort Worth but On #5 Yess we love ❤️ Chick-fil-A but we Mostly love Whataburger especially after a football game I mean y’all can disagree but I have never met a Texan who didn’t love whataburger or who chooses chick-fil-A over whataburger
My wife and I took a trip to DFW to visit some friends last summer. We are now in the process of buying a home in DFW now. We absolutely fell in love with Texas.
Never directly, but we've had some people comment with those sentiments. The Dallas is full of people from around the country so it's been pretty accepting.
Dude, you’re talking about Dallas, Houston, and Austin! Try out visiting the rest of Texas. It’s a completely different area. And by the way, if you don’t like Texas, go back to where you were from, bless your heart.
Shirley Velarde yeah I know how people are in Texas very friendly except the racists I met a few sadly but I do enjoy my city and that people say good morning or say have a great day . Lol
It's a mix around here. I always get stuck behind people on ramps going 55 trying to merge with others going 80/90. And people tailgate (with wide open lanes next to them) like I've never seen before lol.
Jada Denise. Don't feel bad traffic has gotten ridiculous and I react like a crazy lady because of this traffic not only that they're texting. 🙃🙃🙃🤪🤪😂😂🙋 Stay Safe
It should be titled "Moving to DFW". Texas is much more than the Metroplex... and FORT WORTH IS NOT DALLAS ! Just wanted to add... Tone is so difficult in the written word. If I sounded rude, it was not my intent... Nutin' but luv to y'all...
What’s the difference? A gridlock mess. It isn’t different because his royal highness Jerry Jones has said it is the Home of the “Dallas” Cowboys, this you are Dallas
Fort Worth is definitely NOT Dallas. However, they haven't been here all that long so I'm willing to cut them a break. From the video I can tell they live in the metro-mess and haven't gotten an opportunity to get out of town so to speak other than Waco and really the I-35 corridor isn't much different all the way to San Antonio.
They dont get it.. I think these 2 would fit in better in Portland, maybe Austin than they do Dallas. I wanna leave places like those.. Thats all i know.
@@LongLeggedOne never been to Oregon I wouldn't know lived in Texas 70% of my life born here military family I only travel outside Texas for vacation and makes me love coming home so much better especially if they don't have just regular sweet tea like in England
Some of us native Texans are watching your vids too....traffic has got so bad in the last 2 years. I believe it's because many big companies have moved to Texas, hence the reason you guys are meeting so many people who have moved here, from the West Coast. We hold the door because we are courteous. Plain and simple. We do drive like crazy people! The traffic has got worse in the last couple of years. The Metroplex has grown so much and Dallas has blended with Fort Worth.
All the things you just mentioned, we have been hearing as well. Dallas really is a booming city!! It'll be interesting to see where it is 5-10 years from now.
I do not like when people don’t give the Texas wave when driving and letting people cut in front, etc....that’s how I know if someone is NOT from Texas
I moved to Dallas when I was about your age and lived there for 30 years. I recently had to move to Houston. I miss Dallas like crazy!! Your videos give me a little “home” and I’m thoroughly enjoying watching you learn the city!! Enjoy! It’s a great place. You forgot to mention that the state is insanely big. It’s 4 hours to Houston; 9 to El Paso. On the East coast, 4 hours is 4 states. 9 hours is another country. 😂 Have fun y’all.
Jedrick Burgos Zoning. It’s cleaner, better managed. And weather. I like the occasional snow. It rarely floods. No hurricanes. (Occasional tornados, though.) It is more expensive, but median salaries are higher. There’s way more to do. To me, it seems much safer. I love the views. Attitudes are different, more respectful....sigh...I miss Dallas.
Kristie C that’s because you blue state refugees poor into Texas like it’s gonna be your utopia, then go right on voting for boneheads like Beto and his ilk... you’ll turn it into a shithole like one you came from! Take the red pill and grow the hell up!
I just saw your channel and thought it was great! I moved to San Antonio in 1981 after growing up in Palo Alto, California! What a different culture!! I didn't even know what a fire ant was! I was used to a formal, Asian culture, my friends families were wealthy, reserved and quiet. Their parents would have never touched us or raised their voices...you never stared or spoke up until spoken to...then I was in San Antonio, home of the chancla wielding mama!! The minute I walked into the house, a plate of food was put in front of me, a big hug, questions about everything, giving advice, everyone talking at once, breaking into Spanish...I was completely confused! It was wonderful. I married a Texan from a settler family who had an ancestor that fought at the Alamo! I didn't know anything about it, which horrified everyone!! It was like saying I had never heard of WW2.. 30 years on and more, i love it here, i became so happy with all the history and culture and languages and friendly people, it is wonderful! I would never move back to California, as beautiful as it is, just because I love this big state! Welcome!
I’m Texas born and bred been here all my life. I always hold the door for everyone and I remember onetime a lady didn’t say thank you. I don’t think she was from Texas!
Born and bred in Texas ... and I find it fun to see newcomers’ reactions to the Lone Star State, it’s people, and state of mind. The one thing I do have to say, I road trip a lot and have been to 42 states so far, so I can tell you that there are a lot of similarities, as well as differences. One thing I’m told from newcomers to Texas is: I heard, before coming, that Texans were supposed to be so friendly, and though some are, a lot are not ... my response: did you ask the not so friendly if they were native Texans? 🤔 The only thing native Texans request is that people moving to our state respect our state, and not try to change us to what you came from ... we will not, so if you like the way things were in your state, then feel free to go back 😁 otherwise, give our way of life a true try, and welcome 💗 (P.S. just about anywhere outside of Dallas looks upon that city as the red-headed step child of our state - and this coming from a redhead 😝, so don’t judge all of Texas by one city, we are a diversified state. Thanks)
Korpian no, not everyone ... I didn’t for most of my life, though raised around them and taught how to handle one in my teens. It wasn’t until recently I wanted one, just in case 🤷♀️ but I’d say probably 2/3s have at least one, whether it’s a hand gun, rifle, or shotgun.
Korpian no, not unless they’re being threatened ... I realize there are assholes out there who have no respect for human lives, but most of us raised around guns have a healthy respect for both the guns and human lives
Country people are the nicest Texans and always are well mannered. I was born in Houston and was brought up using manners and being polite to everyone.
Most of my friends who have moved to Dallas have told me the job market is VERY hot there. Atlanta has kind of gone down...trash, crowded, crime, high real estate, etc. Dallas is a better choice every day of the week.
You should have described what its like to live in Dallas NOT Texas as a whole, you dont have a clue what Texas is a whole, I can't stand Dallas. Do NOT lump all of Texas with friggin Dallas.
Thinking of moving there myself from Miami (former new Yorker ) but have my Doubts , looking to move for the last time and retire, Florida got to expensive and the is always hot (nothing’s changes out here ) Miami Beach is overrated lol (should I do it ?)
Just don't choose South Texas, I live in the Rio Grande Valley moved from California. They have beautiful places up North, around Fredericksburg, New Braunfels if you like country life. Many people have moved to DFW and other places around there, personally after living in San Jose don't want to live in a big metropolis. I'm not moving I like hot weather. Good luck
I moved to Houston from Minnesota last July and I can say that you guys pretty much nailed it lol..I do miss the beauty of MN and all the nature, but at the same time I feel blessed to be here in TX and I love it here....Welcome to TX my fellow Minnesotans!
Minneapolis is a terrible place now. Its blue too and it might as well be an extension of Chicago. Those protests too.. The police. I dont wanna be anywhere like that anymore.
Don’t California our Texas! Remember what you’re fleeing and where you’re fleeing too!!!! Keep Texas, Texas. There’s no where else to go if progressive liberals keep voting democrat and turn Texas into a ruined state that yall just fled! Don’t be insane! Please! For the sake of our childrens prosperity and freedom. God bless and welcome to Texas the greatest country in the world!
There's plenty of us who are definitely NOT Cowboys fans! They're a joke! Like " Visit the Cowboys stadiums, don't worry about catching the virus, bc they can't catch ANYTHING!" Lol..
People from small towns in Texas have the same experiences as y’all do going to the big cities of Texas. And by the way, Houston traffic is far worse than DFW! Oh and and stay away from Austin between 3 PM - 7 PM! Especially on I-35!
Moved to Dallas from Houston 8 months ago and the traffic here in Dallas is horrible all weekend because the suburbs between Dallas and Ft. Worth are huge. Traffic in Houstons seems worst because everyone basically drive in to Houston from suburbs to work. I miss Houston because it's more laid back where here everything is fast pace.
The big thing that got me is how much Texas loves Texas. I'm from Missouri, where it is what it is- we don't really have a state "identity", per se. It is kinda endearing, and rarely turns into an ego thing unless a native is joking around about it. Also- A coke is any soda. They call shopping carts buggies.
I moved to Texas about 2 years ago, one of the main reasons was for its conservative values. If you are escaping from liberal states running away from Taxes, Liberal Politics like Commiefornia, please vote conservative, don’t vote for what you ran away from.
Thank you I was just about to say that when I found your comment. Definitely leave the liberal crap behind before you move to the best state in the nation.
Problem #1, vote how YOU like. and leave others to theirs. I'm born and raised here so red or blue let people be. It really shouldn't be that hard Gladys Cravitz!
Sometimes people are looking for economic gains not better politics. The beautiful thing about America, people can go wherever they want and take their "colors" with them. That's one of the things that American freedom is all about.
@@marvinhunt117 actually the beautiful thing about America is it used to be like Texas. Liberal politics ruined the ECONOMIES of the states where most of these people come from. They are running away instead of voting for a better economy. Just move to another state with a better economy and ruin that one until there is nothing left.
Me & my husband are moving from Virginia to Texas in a few weeks! I was born and raised in VA but I’ve visited Texas 6 times. I’m super excited for our move!!
A few more things: The cities are just like living in any other big city - bumper to bumper traffic, crowds, expensive, diversity, etc. Most people in the cities are from out of state. Dairy Queen is better than Chic-Fil-A. Real Texans drawl, people from out of state don't. Country roads have shoulders. A real Texas kid will call you "ma'am" or "sir." And Texas is HOT from April through November.
@@tweetyuno I’m from Texas and I complain every day for ME it sucks but everyone else’s experiences are different. I don’t like stereotypes and other stuff like that.
I lived in Texas my whole life, west Texas and Dallas. My husband and I loved to Colorado to experience some real winter and live close to the magnificent mountains three years ago. We loved it, I adored the snow.. but it was hella expensive with all the taxes and fees for everything that is also based on tax ($1300 car registration?!), but also because the housing prices are unreal and we can get so much more house and land for our money in Texas. And.. Colorado was pretty isolating. I personally missed a lot of my close friends and family in Texas and though I met some great people in Colorado, none of them were from there. I really became aware of the term “native” in Colorado because the people who grew up there will let you know that and over time it gets really annoying. Native Coloradans don’t seem to want new residents around and that’s not my vibe so we peaced out and came back to Dallas.
What city did you live in in co? I’m from Texas and have thought of moving to co for mountains and weather but I also love Texas because it has so much to offer
God bless you both. Note: the reason Texas is so strong in jobs is due to it's conservative values, favorable business environment and love of liberty. Vote accordingly. Welcome to Texas.
@@GEREIKAT Wrong!!. Venezuela is very rich in oil. Look at them now, a Socialist mess. Country falling apart, starvation. It's Texas' conservative values that makes it strong.
I laughed when they talked about people moving there from Ca,Oregon,Colorado and Arizona. It's obvious to most why but I guess it's not cool to say it? Lol
I'm not them but I am biracial (so interracial parents) and we've lived in SATX since 2003 and personally have not experienced any racism or judgment! My parents said TN was where they felt it at but I've always felt comfortable here:)
you know maybe 50-60-70 years ago i'd be like that question would make sense. but post 70s, 80s, 90s 00s 10s and now in 2020. stuff like that isnt a priority or topic i ever talk about
Speaking of traffic, I was visiting Texas and I learned never travel early in the morning around 3-4 am. Everyone drives like they have to be at work the next second. I pulled over on the side of the road and watched the parade.
I live in Houston and travel a lot back to Arkansas. Houston is like Nascar at 3 AM. People will literally race here and they don't give a dang about cops. lol
Things to know before moving to Texas : Don't move over here we are full PS : people that move to DFW , Dallas , Austin, Houston are not moving to TX , they are moving to Texas cities with transplants lol .
We moved to Fort Worth from Minneapolis 2 years ago. We love it. Fort Worth is way quieter than Dallas. People opening doors surprised me too. Alot of speed racers on the road here. I love Chic Fil A too! Hardly had it when in Minnesota. Yes there are tons of restraunts here. 50% of Texans eat out every week. Lol! I'm so relating to your video. My first week in Forth Worth I meet 3 California's that moved within the last 3 years. The driving here is crazy 😳. The apartments and houses are much better than Minnesota, they are bigger more modern and more affordable. Thank you for the video!
It's funny...I am german living in Texas since 2017 and I am sure many Texans would say that driving in germany ( no speed limits on Autobahn) is more dangerous... ( therefore the " I survived the german Autobahn shirts ) but I have to say...the driving here is crazy ... oh and having a working AC in your house is essential in TX.
Welcome to Texas! I would recommend to explore South Texas and East Texas and, yes, bring the sunblock and AC unit. Enjoy and take care! Just beware the crazy weather changes in Laredo, especially when the season change (Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter). Ex. Spring Season: sudden winter temp. day or Summer: you'll receive a tan without even knowing.
If you don't live it texas be grateful BECAUSE WE HAVE HUMID WHEATHER!!!! IT SUCKS Humid is rain and the SUN together you are sweaty and feel that rain breeze and it sucks
Texas is its own country. When we visited Italy, if we said we were from United States, they were not impressed. When we said we were from Texas, they were Wow and engaged in conversation. So we learned quickly to say we were from Texas! That’s how amazing it is here! Native Houstonian... Spring/Woodlands. We grow out not up.
......its own country.....?!.... No offense but re read history 101.. Between mex-Tex revolution... Then...pls re edit your comment And im not from TX, I'm not Mexican...and I know more than you know...or you just contradict your self living in you litter world
OK 11:00 in. People in Texas did not used to play their music loud. Or in anyway cause a disturbance. Those are Teenagers or the City not enforcing noise pollution. You need to move. An leave a notice as of why. We normally talk to residents about this an suggest what we FULLY SUPPORT. Go to a park. Parks you can make lots of noise. But NOT in residential residence.
Thank God you made it out safely from the near accident near Waco. We would love to send some appreciation money YOUR way each month!! Let us know how!!! Keep the love going and keep appreciating each other. Bless you both
San Antonio watching and good to know about us Texan, yes we do hold the door for u. But others do not because they’re not from here. So if u see the sign when u enters Texan, do not mess with Texan that’s a reason. If u do not mess with us we won’t mess with u. But if u cross the line, well u have to pay the price...lol. Thanks for sharing the good and bad about Texas because u guys did a good job on you guys part.
It's the cost of living and yes we do have lots of transplants from the east coast and West coast. Most people move to Texas because they want home ownership. You just have to get used to it here because we are large and really diverse. Everything is Bigger and Better in Texas
I am from Texas we who care say if you don't have to be driving when it's raining don't. People don't know how to drive In The rain. Watch out for people who do rolling stop, run red light, don't use there blinker or turn it on to early or late. You should not drink and drive but people do so be careful. Choice wisly when to honk your horn because if you do you might get someone with road rage or worse, Be prepared it can in the summer be 105 degrees with 100% humidity. Winter 80-32 degrees rare to have snow.
The area of Old Denton Road & Trinity Mills Rd in Carrollton is called K Town, Korea Town. Frisco has a K Town too, great food! Legacy West, on the Plano Frisco boarder, has outstanding food. Nice place to walk around on a cool evening. Be careful when you drive on the tollways, they charge you more to be on it at different times of day. I avoid them anymore.
know this, the big urban areas in Texas, like most big urban areas around the country, are liberal and the smaller towns are more conservative. Don't believe it? Check out the cast votes. If you are moving to Texas to live amongst freedom loving conservative folks, you might want to avoid the big cities. Texas is on the verge of going blue because of the influx of folks who come here for the economic opportunities in the big cities. If this happens then what makes Texas, "Texas" will fade into the past. If this is what you are trying to do by moving to Texas, please just stay where you are. If you are moving to Texas because of it's perceived conservatism know that you will be in for a big surprise. I wish this wasn't so, but there it is. If the Texas legislature goes liberal, they will turn it into the kind of place where you are moving from so what will be the point of it. Happened to Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, starting to happen to Arizona.
Heads up. The mexican food in dallas/forth worth is not true mexican food. Its texmex. Want real mexican food go to El Paso, Tx. Try L & J's or La Posta in Mesilla, NM.
If your thinking of moving to texas and voting Democrat, don’t come. There’s a reason you and all the business are leaving your state. So don’t make it like the state you are leaving. Pull your head out of your ass and wake up but don’t be woke when you cross our state lines. Living in Texas is a privilege don’t screw it up!!
@@markjones2185 yessir. Its not pretty, the weather sucks, most the cities out here are purely industrial, the drug trafficking is INSANE, and racism isn't so uncommon. Its undeniably awful. Im hoping to leave and go somewhere like Tyler, Nacogdoches, or Beaumont. Anywhere but west
The best thing in Dallas is the Dallas Cowboys.. Texas is the best state in America.. I've lived in 4 states and visited 35 and I love Texas the most, especially South Texas.. I've been to Minnesota,it's an OK place to visit like Florida but not to live..
Enjoyed your video. Welcome to Texas. It sounds like you've still got a lot to see and experience. I'm a native Texas. I'm 66 and I tried to leave after I graduated from UT but something kept pulling me back. Here's some other Texas things to check out. Our extreme weather is July & August. You'll need a pool or lake plus an AC. Y'all probably figured that out. We are very proud of our BBQ and chili. Texas BBQ is a different cooking style than anywhere else. Look for the places with the longest lines out front. In Texas, there are NO beans in chili. If there's beans, it's stew. Go to a high school football game in the fall. Any high school. The hill country in the fall is beautiful. Try to find a music festival. If we ever get to have one again.Local music is excellent most of the time. Austin is great for live music, but it's crowded and bad traffic like DFW. The Gulf coast is great.Try the Sandfest in Port Aransas in April. And finally, take that butt-numbing 10 hour drive to Big Bend in the spring or fall. It make for good memories. Be open, honest and kind and you'll be alright. Oh yeah, work "y'all" into your vocabulary.
I’m from WI, currently a resident in MN. My family and I are HIGHLY considering moving to Texas! I can’t wait to visit. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and highlights of Texas!
Also, you will have a lot of sunshine here. Welcome to the Sunbelt. I lived on the east coast, so much better living in Texas! It is a different world.
When moving to Texas, remember why you moved here. If it's a better job or low cost of housing/living or lower taxes or lower regulations for your business, remember that when you vote. Don't vote the same way that caused all the problems in your last state.
First, welcome to the Promised Land. One of the things people coming to Texas need to know is, our state is great because we don't have the politics that are dragging other states down (i.e., New York, California). People should know that it is their politicians who has ruined their states. We welcome people from wherever, but leave the crazy liberal ideas where they are.
I'm a native New Yorker now living in the south, and I have always held the door open for people behind me, male or female. Didn't realize I was so unique.
That's because you guys move from Minnesota you guys noticed that is more faster pace but people from California that just don't like Texas it's not good, I just didn't like it at all the the weather is nasty I was there for 4 months and I get can't wait to come back to California even the houses they're not nice old houses I just didn't like it all
I live in Houston TX and the traffic is a mess I avoid the freeway as much as possible thank God for Mitch quick thinking to avoid that accident glad you'll are ok hope and pray that everyone in the comments have a bless evening🙏🙏
An adorable couple-Welcome!Just leave the blue state values that prompted you to move here in the first place-at our border or move to the Peoples Democratic Socialist Republic of Illinois- which I fled 8 years ago.
I just moved to Dallas 7 months ago from Michigan and I LOVE IT HERE !!! Everything you guys said is true only thing is I wish I had saw this video sooner 🥰 great job you two you nailed it !!!
hehe city of Irvine in southern california (private city) the regular roads are 50, and multiple lanes and wide. one of the best designed cities I've ever seen in my life. very suburbany dont think they have night clubs eithers -_-
3:27 dang people be running over the lights on the roads and be shakin like crazy... it happens y’all and btw I’m the person who runs to the door to hold it
Dallas is not Texas. Drive down to the hill country. All the big cities are getting crazier and crazier. I live just outside San Antonio and I don't love Chickfillet I think is just OK and quite expensive. We don't have tollways in Bexar county there is one just outside the county that bypasses Austin and I will pay anything to not drive through Austin at certain times. I will never live anywhere else but Texas. You really have to get out of Dallas.
