Because who cares about the destruction of an art form, the ethical ramifications, or any form of human decency because MONEY! @@LeatherCladVegan That would imply that on-stage Kid Rock and off-stage Robert Ritchie are sufficiently different from one another, for which I have seen absolutly 0 indication in the last 20+ years... and it would also imply that 51 year old Robert Ritchie is still earning his money by pretending to be stuck at ~14. "Look at me, I'm so edgy! Just pissing off people left and right, wow, I'm so tough!" To be fair though, several musicians/bands made a career off that 😅
The lyrics "young ladies young ladies, I like them under 18, some say that's statutory, BUT I SAY IT'S MANDATORY" really should be enough of a reason to not like kid rock
I was gonna mention that song in the comments, but I'm glad someone else said it. He's the MGK of country music, but I'm not even sure MGK has a song about statutory rape.
I will never forget the day a grown man completely unironically told me that he believed Kid Rock was THE greatest singing talent of all time. I have never felt so sorry for someone.
That's the equivalent of someone that's never had a pastry that doesn't come out of a box with a $2.99 sticker claiming a Hostess Fruit Pie is the best Apple Pie money can buy.
The movie Carnival of Souls has this line: "It takes more than intellect to be a musician." When Rifftrax Live riffed that film, their response was, "It takes intellect to be a musician? Nobody tell that to Kid Rock!"
I've never seen an artist in his own music video look to the heavens and point to himself and callout his own name proudly as if to say "look at me world I'm great" he puts himself on a pedestal when in reality every big Kid Cock hit is a copy of some other artist, he is the biggest plagiarist of the 21st Century, he has a following of followers, they're a bunch of sheeple.🐑🐑🐑 You'd think that would be a turn-off for anybody. 7:30 - Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, White Stripes, Alice Cooper, Iggy Pop, Bob Seger, Mowtown and Eminem (and has more success at a restaurant btw) made Detroit/pumped in to their economy as musicians. Kid rock hasn’t.
I used to work at an electronics store (used and newgames, movies, CDs, records, and other items) and I offended a customer once cause we only had one Kid Rock CD and no Ted Nugent CDs. He wanted their greatest hits and I just said to him, "they had hits?" He filed a complaint and tried to get me fired 😆
To be fair... They never had any hits. I'm a better guitarist than Nugent. A better hunter, too... and I could be a MUCH bigger poser than Bob is, if I wanted to be!
After he appeared in Joe Dirt someone asked if he would pursue acting. He said making music was a lot easier for a lot more pay. Consider that he takes up a total of maybe 7 minutes of screen time in that movie you can just imagine the amount of effort he puts into his music.
I've always hated Kid Rock, but for a long time I never had a real reason other than "ew". Mostly because I refused to pay even the slightest bit of attention to him. Thanks for giving me 10 super awesome reasons!
All Summer Long not only rips off Sweet Home Alabama but also Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon. It's a mashup, though both songs are very similar, melodically.
TW: CSA Let’s not forget that in 2001 he hijacked a soundtrack to an otherwise damn good children’s movie to literally *brag* about being a pdf file. “Some call it statutory, I call it mandatory,” he proudly proclaims. Also, as a Michigander, the possibility of this man being responsible for running my state is terrifying.
What about Kid Rock makes you think he wouldn’t brag about “hanging out” with underage girls? Dude probably has 2 in the trunk and 4 in the basement right now.
Ten doesn't even cover why this man-child is terrible. He simply checks off all the boxes of being a Karen or whatever you call the male equivalent. One thing he did which is simply unforgivable: He cut a hole in the US national flag and wore it as a poncho during his performance at halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII. Of course that event was overshadowed by what would happen at the end of the show with Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction which would eventually lead to the launch of RU-vid about a year later.
@@TimmyTickle even though burning the flag is protected under the first amendment, what he did isn’t, as under US Flag Code you can’t wear the American flag as a livery or article of clothing lmao.
I used to work for a company that had a relationship with Kid Rock in the late 90s. To say he's all image is an understatement. I had a friend who worked in the entertainment office in Los Angeles and he met with Kid Rock multiple times. He told me Kid Rock was very easy to talk to and work with, but was all image. The guy who walked in was definitely Guy Ritchie and NOT Kid Rock. He dressed, looked and even acted differently from what we saw on TV.
@@DoctorPretorious616 Thanks for pointing out my error. Though it would have made a good story if BOB had gone into these meetings with an English accent...

When I worked at CVS in my late teens, I found out that my assistant manager's wife when to school with Kid Rock. He said he's met him a couple times and he never had anything good to say about him and his wife said even in high school he was an arrogant ass.
That Simpsons episode with Kid Rock was always rated as one of the worst episodes in the series. I always thought the plot was nonsensical and adding Kid Rock was the cherry on the cake for that. I know there's worse Simpsons episodes, but that episode was bad even compared with later seasons.
I think the only funny part of that episode to me is when Homer sees a child (which happens to be Joe C and he isn't a child) and tries to take him off the stage but security restrained him from the stage.
i think another part regarding the whole "objectifying women" thing worth mentioning is that he has songs where he explicitly sings about liking *underage* girls specifically
I went to high school in a lily white suburb in the mid to late 2000's, Kid Rock's music gives me flashbacks to hearing Extremely White Boys trying and failing to rap. If I listen for more than a second the murder instinct starts to kick in.
The spring break forever one!!!! Hahaha I watched that in the woods on a camping trip when it aired.. my friend had one of those tiny ass t.v.s.. so while it's bad.. I remember it fondly. Hahahahahaha
I said it in my own comment here but as an actual southerner I’m AMAZED how many people here actually fall for people like him and Trump actually being one of us. It’s unreal. I mean even if you’re not southern you see it but seeing it firsthand is SO bad (although I don’t know anyone who actually enjoys his new album)
He's no musician either. He clearly steals songs err... samples from other artists without their consent so then he can claim that they are his own art.
Many years ago I met Kid Rock. I did street team work for Warped Tour so was backstage. This was right before Devil Without a Cause. He went by DJ Kid Rock. If you ever saw the movie Malibu's Most Wanted...Kid Rock 100% was like the Jamie Kennedy character. He idiolized black rap culture, wanted to be black so badly. Prior to that he had a Vanilla Ice look with a Kid N Play haircut. Most of his current fans have no idea about his pre-Devil Without a Cause era. He is such a huge fraud. He rapped about a tough unbringing back in the day yet lived in a million dollar home. Now he sings about how he is a good ol boy from the south raised on Hank and Skynryd, proudly waives the confederate flag, is appalled now by black culture. He mocked someone like Beyonce and said he isn't into women like that (you know, black). He wants his women to be white, with big breasts he said. Interesting because back in the day he dated black women, even has a son with one of them. . BTW it took FIVE PEOPLE to write Bawitdaba. How pathetic is that? A song with lyrics that sounds like a middle school kid wrote them. Bawitdaba-da bang-da-bang-diggy-diggy-diggy Said the boogie-said up jump the boogie Bawitdaba-da bang-da-bang-diggy-diggy-diggy Said the boogie-said up jump the boogie (come on) Bawitdaba-da bang-da-bang-diggy-diggy-diggy Said the boogie-said up jump the boogie Bawitdaba-da bang-da-dang-diggy-diggy-diggy Said the boogie-said up drop the boogie

I sat in front of him at a Detroit Tiger’s game probably about 18 yrs ago. I will say he was very friendly to everyone that approached him for an autograph or a picture. I give him credit for that. Also enjoyed him in Joe Dirt and some other movies/tv. That being said, can’t stand his music.
Not really a big fan of his formula music, but I did respect the way he held the line on ticket prices etc. for his fans. But it doesn’t matter how much of a swell guy you are if you back such a foul traitor and allow yourself to be used by said idiot. Nugent, on the other hand is just a fifth rate guitar player with an undeservedly huge head. He was entertaining enough on hunting shows, but then he took his guns over everything else politics to the new American Nazi camp, and then proceeded to threateningly trash everybody who didn’t agree with his warped thinking. What a warmed over bucket of urine.
For two years every time All Summer Long came on the radio I'd get so stoked because I thought it was Werewolves of London because of that opening piano riff. Then, I'd have to deal with the inevitable crushing disappointment when it ended up being that goddamned stupid Kid Rock song. It was like having my beloved dog die in my arms over and over again.
God knows I wish WCSX would just drop the song. It's an instant station flip for me, particularly since I don't think they've played Werewolves outside of some A-Z marathon in years.
Wow… I knew this guy isn’t a good person, but I didn’t know he’s THIS bad. But this does seem like an interesting new series, and I’m excited to see where it goes. The Fred Durst and Ted Nugent episodes are gonna be real doozies.
@@longlivethesheet4561 Not really. He’s by no means a saint, but to my knowledge, he’s never gone anywhere close to the lines Kid Rick and Uncle Ted have crossed. I just mentioned him because he’s kind of a douchebag and his bad songwriting/vocals completely bog down an otherwise great band, and he seems like the kind of guy to have one of these videos made on him. But he’s not terrible, he’s done some controversial things for sure and some of his lyrics really haven’t aged well, but he’s Mother Theresa compared to Ted.
I was in middle school when everything was this whole "gone country" thing, and Kid Rock appeared on the scene. Growing up in Oklahoma I wasn't much of a music person then so I just listened to what was on the radio my Dad and brother put on which was country radio. I vividly remember Dad being confused when they said Kid Rock cause he remembered him earlier in the 90s and went "Kid Rock is country now...?" I will forever associate and blame Kid Rock for part of the bro country rave that came about (not that I currently listen to country but I have a soft spot for the classics)
My brother and one of our friends were in a bar about a year before "DWAC" came out and the guy next to them smelled like he hadn't had a shower in a month. It was Kid Rock.
Not only is he racist, but he's racist even after being mentored by a group of black hip-hop artists when he was young. Completely turned on people who considered him their brother. Which is just... Wow. 😬
When All Summer Long came out in high school I hated it.... The suburban wanna be country boys at my school would put that song on repeat ALL THE TIME. I wanted to pour molten hot lead in my ears everytime that song plays.
I remember listening to “only God knows why” and thinking Kid was really something. I was a tween and many things I thought about the world were wrong. Really wrong
Even way back when I first heard that song, I got a "whining about how hard fame is in order to come across as sensitive and get girls" vibe. Not to say that fame *isn't* hard--I imagine it's really stressful to have so many eyes on you.
It's possible, and probably more likely than we think, that Kid Rock doesn't actually give two shits about politics, he just panders to right-wingers because it's a super cheap and easy way to maintain some semblance of relevance and sales for a little while longer.
@@trickstergod9179 I mean that's actually basically been proven, and imo that makes his "politics" worse because it shows that he cares more about money than the rights of people who aren't like him, but that might just be me.
So what he supported the last idiot in chief. It is not like the current idiot in chief is any better. Besides so what this is the United States of America. People have the right to support who they like regardless if you like the person or not.
I admit that I enjoyed Devil Without A Cause back in the day. It was fun, compared to the likes of Creed, who were also huge at the same time. Devil Without A Cause was one of those albums that seemed to be blasting out of everybody's dorm room in 1999. But yeah, he hasn't aged well at all.
Yea it was a great album and still is honestly. I don't like alot of his newer stuff but he was pretty good his first couple of albums on a major labor. He was doing it all the way back to 90ish but I ain't familiar with any of that stuff.
At least devil without cause was not one constant pity party with more tears than an onion farm like everything creed ever did was. Im way more embarrased by the fact that I ever owned a creed CD.

Also Undertakers most lazy time period where he was clearly 75lbs overweight and was clearly in need of retiring before he got into shape and had a career renaissance
He was one of the pioneers of the shitty salesman's version of Rock. Like, grouped up with the worst of them with Puddle of Mudd for example. That is what tainted music for a long time and lots of people catered to it to the point where we see how shamefully praised they all were. And nowadays, when people get into rock nostalgia discussions, you will find people who'll say "Man...I really loved Bawitdaba back in the day". Question that person's tastes and walk away.
That’s not how it works. By that logic, no one is to think any kind of music is good. If u like that song, that means u can’t like other Rock songs?? Such a stupid comment
@@ch33zybreadtrellie4 no shit. Kid rock was awesome in 1998 and nobody thought he sucked then. His first album was actually pretty good. Native Detroiter here. He owned a few restaurants in his time and most of them were located in Clarkston MI about 45 min to an hour from Detroit.... aside from the one in Little Caesars Arena. So his claim about pumping money into the Detroit area is bullshit.
And the one in LCA was pretty much because his concerts had made the Ilitch family a little profit here and there. I know I cringed when his concerts opened up LCA, and I wonder if Chris Ilitch is proud of that or not these days.

One of my "hall of shame" moments in life? I bought copies of Kid Rock's 'Devil without a cause' ...and 'Cocky'... and 'History of rock' 🤧 and I saw him open for Metallica in 2000... I enjoyed his strippers onstage more than his performance. Thank God I never bought his t-shirt! 🙄
I bought all 3 of those records too. And I am a woman. Imagine how embarrassed I feel years later when I realised that he truly believed the crap he sung about.

To be fair, there are a number of other bands/artists who have chased trends, used lots of samples and even objectified women. For me, it's the pandering, the fake persona and the over-the-top politics that bothers me most.
Oh it's nothing new, to be sure. I can tolerate the phony-balogna acts from certain bands if there is enough substance in the music and/or the message they espouse is positive or makes an actual difference to enough people. I will confess that I was a Kid Rock fan for the longest time during the 2000s. But I was also pretty damn naïve as a teenager. And when I became an adult and I moved on into the 2010s, I pulled away from that scene. Looking back, I’m glad that I did.
In 2008 - 09 I was stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan. I heard that an USO concert was coming to our base but no one knew who was coming. More than 3/4 of the base that was there just left, pissed off. The ones that stayed only did so because of Kelly.

I was a kid getting into music when "All Summer Long" came out, and I didn't even know who he was before and it took years of me listening to that song and someone mentioning who he was when I connected him to it. Then he got sued, or maybe my peers was talking about him potentially getting sued again, and that's when I realized it was a rip off and just decided to never look into him again. I never really got his hype, but he is a good case and point of "fake it till you make it." I wish that you would have brought into more detail about what he used to do at the parties or whatever, because I have no idea and only just have recently found out his lyric over statutory rape, so I can only guess and assume. I'm going to try to find another video over it, but I don't know what I will find and I don't want him in my music suggestions.
Kid Rock is talented. He can play the drums, guitar, mix it up on turntables, sing and produce. I watched a video of him at a show going around to each instrument and playing them. That said, what a waste of talent, holy shit.
I’ve never been a fan of Kid Rock. However, a certain drunk hillbilly that I have met continues to play Kid Rock’s music on his radio show despite his bigotry. That being said, are gonna do a video on why Ted Nugent is horrible?
I went to his bar in Nashville once after an Iron Maiden show. Basically immediately got bored and went to Alan Jackson’s bar for a while. Surprisingly have nothing else to add there 🤷🏻♂️
This video is great. However, I must admit that Kid Rock was funny in Joe Dirt. I didn’t even know who he was when I first watched it. Kid Rock struggling to read a note and then yelling “Def Leopard Sucks!” is comedy gold.
He also refers to himself as the n-word on that one track he did with ICP on their first album. How ICP ever even let that slide in the first place is beyond me, but.. it happened.
Honestly I'm glad to have never listened ANY of this guy's music growing up. I made the right call listen to other great bands that were popular at time (yes, that time when Kid Rock went mainstream).
Nothing says "I stand with the working class" like charging an $800 entrance fee. And wasn't this around the same time he was boasting about how affordable his concert tickets were? (most expensive tickets being $20)
Not much else I can add to this, you nailed it down on Bobby Ritchie being just maggot ridden trash. But... a few things I can bring up... 2:08- God,even as a rapper he was god awful,I don't know what Eminem or Esham saw in him,but he was below average. I remember Willie D of the Geto Boys calling him a racist culture vulture and...yeah,he was 100% right on the money. 3:55- Orignally,Mike E Clark (who produced for Kid Rock & ICP) made it for Violent J,during an interview he said they were going to record something for it,but Mike accidentally gave Kid the CD that had the instrumental on it and unfortunately, it wounded up...that trash,blech.... I know you're not a fan of the clowns, but personally,I would of been interested what would of J did instead. 7:32- I remember hearing about that Made In Detroit closing and Kid bragging about giving money to the city. Rapper Royce Da 5'9 said it best and told him to STFU.😂😂😂 6:38-Surprisingly,with his hatred of Trump,I'm perplexed that Eminem hasn't dissed Kid Rock at this point. Em pulled no punches on his feelings about that BS. All & all, this was great and keep up the good work Luke, this would be a great series akin to Regretting the Past.
Maybe shhh, we should stop talking about the rat basturd. Maybe he’ll go away. 50 some year old man who calls himself kid rock. Racist hillbilly wannabe wanksta gangsta. Fuk him.
we can thank Carson Daily and MTV's TRL for anal spraying Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, and all the rest of the crap from 1998-2002 on us. is it any wonder why interest in rock music died after that shitshow?
I was in Kuwait and Robin Williams showed up with Lewis Black and Kid Rock. After the show i wanted to meet Lewis Black, but about one second before i could Kid Rock grabbed my hand and thanked me for my service. By the time he let go, Lewis Black was slready in the Humvee and i lost my chance.
Another thing I got to say about his past. He appeared on Insane Clown Posse's "Carnival of Carnage" as a guest for a song called "Is That You?". And in the first parts of his verse, he actually said the N word like he thinks he's "one of them". God, ICP never did that, and even I can admit they are above that. I mean, good god.
Actually he isn’t being himself with a different name in Joe Dirt. His actual name is Robert and the Joe Dirt character was named Robbie. Think about that. I love Joe Dirt but still……
The worst thing about Kid Rock for me is amount of legitimate, genuinely talented artists who have allowed him to tarnish their music and reputation with his, let's say questionable vocals. I mean shit, even Slash has him on a track!! I love Slash... Don't listen to Kid Rock!!!
My friend tried to go to his concert soon and the minimum ticket price was 230 dollars? I got to see Seether, Starset and Breaking Benjamin pit for 60$
I remember my ex-friend liking Kid Rock. Me? The only song I liked was "Bullgod". But other than that, I am not a huge fan. Now that I am watching this and seeing the stuff he has done, jeez... I didn't think he was gonna get this delusional. And knowing he objectifies women. As a woman who loves metal music, it pisses me off. Good job Kid Rock, I hope you are very proud of yourself for the stupidity you've done.
Unfortunately, misogyny was pretty rampant in popular metal at the time. The difference is, most of the other artists from that time have owned up to since then, unlike Kid Rock. Jonathan Davis hates All In the Family now, so good on him for growing past that edgelord shit and realizing that actually did real harm to some people (he hasn't played it live in a VERY long time).
You mean like taking the time to make a video about how awful someone else that you don’t even know personally is? I guess THAT is a “useful” way to spend your time? Or taking the time to comments after you watched a 15 minute, poorly researched video? The hypocrisy is strong in you…
I think it's funny how everyone hates him (including me). when it's always the fans who decides whose popular or not, so in the end, the fans are to blame........\m/
