I was married once. I was a good wife but I needed a good husband- I asked for a divorce and got it. I’m happier single, I’m more financially secure single, more free single- permanently! An ‘ideal’ partner simply doesn’t exist in this world, and that’s ok. They don’t serve a purpose in my life.

I appreciate the positive growth I've achieved all by myself. I love myself more than before. I'm almost 5 years sober.. the best thing I've ever done for myself! I need no one's validation or approval. My last relationship taught me so much as I realized how nothing lasts forever with people we thought we truly loved.. they always leave. These days, I'm good! Being single serves me well!

Not just for staying single, but also for being wise in choosing friends. I have few friends these days. My standards are high, I value my choices in how I spend my time. I don’t want friends who are needy or emotionally immature. I’ve had “friends” burn me, talk abusively to me and lie to and about me.

Yes you are right, the older we get the smaller circle of friendship. I no longer in same wavelength with all friends who already married. We also live in different phase of life. When I tried to connect with them, it failed. We have different thoughts, different world.

I have learned to embrace my oneness. Two failed marriages and growing up in a toxic household has lead me to remain single. I'm 67 and will remain single until the end. Never had any kids either.

Wow. Finally when I can relate to at least in a few aspects. I am a minimalist and I just don't need to keep up with the Joneses to be happy. I love my solitude there's nothing I cherish more one thing he didn't mention which is a big reason for me. when he talked about relationships and the like when you know three out of every five marriages ends up in divorce, it makes me ask why I would want to put myself through that. I'm not knocking them it's just not for me. To each his own. When you get married half of your life is planned out for you that does not fit me well. Bottom line some people just are not cut out for marriage and there's nothing wrong with it. Conversely, I've known some people that have been married four or five times and it's like who would do that to themselves. Then I realized that some people just have to be married I'm glad I'm not in that category

I was surprised when she walked across the street, up my driveway and knocked on my door. Going through an awful divorce that completely blindsided me and wrecked me financially is why I will stay single. I may have a GF but won’t open myself up to another failed marriage. Men get crushed in divorce. Sucks for all the other nice ladies but I won’t marry again.

I have never found myself desperate for a relationship. From a very young age until early College my Mum worked outside the home. From 8 or 9 I was expected to contribute to the housework and eventually in my teenage years I started to learn how to cook for myself and wash clothes. The area where I live women are still raised to totally take care of their spouses and children as well as work a full time job, so they have never known what to do with me. Plus as an only child and being an Army Brat I learned to enjoy my own company growing up. I have friends, but am willing to wait until the right person comes along.

This cover all the reasons i have stayed single all my life. I watched my school friends get married only to divorce a few years later. The same with people at work, some have been divorced several times. A wise grandfather once said to me, choose your friends with care, your true friends will be there when you need them the most, the others will be too busy to care. i Prefer the solitude of been single, relaxation for me is a quiet night with a good book.

Same I really love FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE (that’s why it’s very positive for me) For me, one thing that I think it’s negative, like for example when you want to travel alone in certain countries especially for us as woman, it’s kind of difficult so there are some countries that you can travel alone and sometimes you have to be with some groups or with your family !

I see myself in all 10 points why I'm remainig single and I absolutely don't see myself (and never did) in a conventional relationship. I have a best friend, we were partners for 3 years 20 years ago and after we split remained best friends, which is better for both of us. I also have a cute dog and she wouldn't be too happy to share me, expecially not with someone who doesn't trully accept and value me. By being a social worker, i've also seen what happens to women who have bad partners , so being single is the best option for me.

One reason that I've stayed single for so long is that I don't want the hassles of being a stepfather. If I date someone who has kids, then they must be old enough to be left alone for extended periods. In other words, I'm not interested in a "package deal," where everything is about children. I prefer adult activities.

Basically nothing about marriage sounds good to me. I like to live alone and have things to myself. I don't want to make decisions with someone else. I don't want to wear a wedding ring. I don't want to make promises to stay with someone for decades; I don't know what the future holds! (No one can REALLY make promises about what they will do decades in the future, but not many people analyze that concept.)

Since reaching peace 3.5 years ago and 18 years of my self-improvement journey, I've gone from being codependent relationship wise to not needing others in my life but wanting them. If they aren't good for my peace, they won't be around too long. I just ended a relationship where yes the sex was the best I've ever had. Just a fantastic connection sexually. Everything else really declined and I finally decided sex isn't as important as it was before

I was a teenager in the mid-1970s and I saw a young actress (who was very attractive and already quite successful) on a talk show say that the four years she was married were the "loneliest years of her life." I couldn't believe it! A famous actress saying that marriage could be bad? I never forgot it, and, for better or worse, always kept those words in the back of my mind.

The video talks about achieving success and living up to your full potential. But here is the truth and the reality: if you want to live up to your full potential and achieve success you need a team. Nobody does it all alone. You can't achieve success simply by yourself. Having a team means having a committed partner and you committing to your partner. That doesn't mean go into a toxic relationship. If you find yourself in a toxic relationship then there is something about yourself you need to fix. You can have a relationship that is fulfilling, happy, meaningful and can bring you success. But if you have unresolved problems of your own you are not aware of, you are going to find yourself in negative toxic relationships. This is why it's important to truly get to know yourself and fix yourself first so you can have healthy positive relationships. But you are not going to achieve success going it alone. That I promise. Every successful person has a team backing them and serious help along the way and to deny this fact is simply living in personal delusions.

Choosing to be single is not an achievement, I think it's a reaction for the more sensitives souls in this life that know what they want and they are not finding it! We are social beings and singledom might consciously make sense but being witnessed by another connects some very primal settings in our brain and souls. I have remained single for a while because I have not been able to find someone that I find is suitable for me. The barr is set so low in the dating market that there's this expectation that one should be grateful for anyone with a heartbeat, but I won't give up my singledom for that, it is too basic. If I have to stoop that low I know I would turn into a raging narcissist, something I am not willing to become no matter how much I want to find someone. But I do long to find someone, but the right person for me, not just anyone as that will make me feel more lonely than now, being alone.

Yes it’s best to remain single rather than miserable. I was married and recently widowed ( almost a year). I loved my wife dearly (32 years together). I’m financially well off and a physician ready to retire in 3 years. Do I remain single? I do like people and companionship ( no drama) . Traveling alone ? I didn’t do that when I was single 32 years ago. So there is no greater gift than your health followed by being fulfilled. Having a smart funny person by your side may help you grow and enjoy life . The wrong person is misery, single is vanilla ice cream, and the right person is an ice cream sundae!

Some ppl are simply happy single. For me, it is an absolute lack of interest in being a wife and mother. I see very little or no benefits but a lot of costs. It is hard but better than motherhood and / or being with the wrong person.

Hi i'm Rahila :-). Thank you for this video. As a single feminin soul by choice (for the remainder of my present lifetime here on Earth anyway) I identify with a lot of your points. I find them quite therapeutic, I feel able to show myself self-compassion for the remainder of my singleton moments... Thank you. However, because I have been verry lucky in love, when I catch up with my future possible life partner in Heaven, I shan't be showing my best friend this video LOL. I'll just show him my comment, and reassure him that I shal give him a genuine second chance (if we're still romantically into each other), if he's able to accept and respect 99 percent of my independence. If he can do that from the start, I shan't break his heart a second time in his existence. I reckon he'll be game for my challenge personally :-). Here on Earth my memory of my friend is of a high flier, ambitious, resilient, independent. So a worthy life partner for me in an ideal setting... :-). Anyway, thank you again, I love this video, but for my best friend's sake, I won't be championing these points forever. LOL. Not Only for my remaining spycho-spiritual education. :-). My Dad raised me to be self sufficient, independent, on my own & NEVER depend on a man for anything….He would scream at the top of lungs…..!!!!! Learn to take care of yourself!!! NO MAN will fix you it know how to take care of you better than you! & don’t get pregnant!!!! I was a teenager when he planted those seeds…he was right. Traditional marriage and even traditional courtship is an outdated antiquated concept that had a concrete and obvious practical purpose 100s of years ago and even just a few decades ago. But now what made courtship advantageous to both parties no longer exists: Women don’t need men to provide & protect and men don’t need to be in a relationship to have sex. Our evolutionary biology and evolutionary psychology is still the same as it was 100s and 1000s of years ago yet cultures, religions, technology, and life itself is unrecognizably different. The best and maybe even only way to make traditional marriage/family work nowadays is to live off grid away from society.

I definitely don’t want to stay single . I’m just very picky about who I date safety is my most important someone who s nice has goals and a job who doesn’t use women . I’m careful because my apartment building has women beaters and murders which has opened my eyes to choose very carefully get to know someone before I let them in my apartment as I have been stolen from lots . Few weeks ago I turned 34 and have never been in relationship. I hhave high standards especially in morality and had never use tobacco nor marijuana. My first the most basic demand is that someone who want to have relationship with me could never use marijuana or other narcotics. I have bachelor degree in sociology so I think such person should at least have matura but I would rather prefer tertiary education. Of course being nonsmoker is other most basic standard. I rqther want that person would be beatiful, pretty and kind. I have these all characterisrics maybe exclude beauty. I'm not sure. Sorry for my english I'm Pole.
