Tip Number Eleven: Buy a rebuildable tank and wick it yourself. A prewound coil can last years, just heat it up without the cotton and let the nasty residue burn away, scratch it a few time and it's good to go. Wicking is pretty easy once you've done it a few times and the cost of getting a clean vape is just a little bit of cotton fiber which is cheap. Disposable coils have so many disadvantages you'll never look back. I was turned on to this by the guy who works at a vape shop, I thought he was just trying to upsell me, but in the end realized I had really been wasting money and missing out all along.
Disposable coils are bottom line the worst. This comment sums up all you need to know. It's honestly insane how much you save money just by having prebuilt coils over a sub ohm tank for example. Sub ohm tank coils have always been such a gamble for me whether it's gona be a good coil or crap out on me after a couple days, then you buying another $15 pack. When one prebuilt coil can last weeks and you get so much more out of it. Its a no brainer.. but good information

I've got a solution for you guys! Learn how to build with a rebuildable RDA, or a Tank. It is much cheaper to buy your own cotton and coils. You will also need a vape kit to Change out your coils and cotton. You'll need one of your vaping friends to teach you how to build if he/she knows enough about vaping to teach you.
You can chain vape a lot more. But once it gets really hot you let your atomizer cool! You'll also need to learn a little about ohms Law. And what amps your batteries are hitting at and the capacity of your batteries.
@@2jmilligan Using the super mesh coils it's alot better now then normal coils (they drink ALOT more luiquid tho), but yea been thinking about the rebuildable RDA's for while now. The only problem is dont think i know anyone that uses it, but the is always RU-vid ftw !!
@ Gold and Silver Not really. In fact sweet liquid cloggs the cotton, which is responsible to transport the liquid to the coil. So your coil is running inceasingly dryer and dryer, until it fails due to constant overheating. Sometimes it don't brakeright away, but starts to have a nasty burned taste. That's because the cotton is starting to get roasted. I use only rebuildable RDAs and I just love sweet tasting liquids. So I change the cotton in my daily vape at least once a week. It's a quick operation of about two minutes. The coil itself lasts for months. But even changing the coil takes barely more than five minutes.
I've been vaping for 7 years and making my own ejuice for 5. Sweetness of juice does gunk up a coil faster than less sweet juice. I make fairly sweet recipes myself and also change my cotton every few days as Oldinea Miller stated along with burning off the excess gunk on the coil itself. You usually get dry hits due to improper wicking or running your watts too high and the juice can't keep up. If you're buying prebuilt coils I'd highly recommend getting a rebuildable tank instead as it will save you a ton of money in the long run. If you're buying ejuice vs making your own I'd also recommend learning to make your own, 120ml made yourself costs on average $4 per bottle. e-liquid-recipes.com is a great site with thousands of recipes.
@@oldineamiller9007 I'm thinking of switching from my smok to an RDA, I been off cigarettes for 2 months starting off with the Juul first, then have it to my brother and hope he quits I know all brands are different and you get what you pay for but how's the battery life? And compared to a 3mil tank how much juice you put in at a time?

Plus get a good chipset in the MOD so it cuts out when it's too hot or the fire button is on too long. This has saved me so many coils. Geekvapes supermesh coils are amazing. Last ages
Carbonize. More like leave a coating. Many non vapers believe we are still burning stuff, but that's not the case. Fired dry maybe, but in practice, we are converting a liquid to a vapor.
Excellent video, thanks mate! Personally, I really appreciate it. This time last year I was deciding on how to go about getting rid of my 50+ a day roll up habit. Ok, I'll be honest with you. I still ponce the odd one every week or three off my son. But on the whole, vaping has gotten me off them, but with bugger all knowledge about what I was doing. My Fi1 coils recommend 80w +/- 10w, but for me, this makes vaping bloody awful. For whatever reason I have stuck at 42.5w as this is how it tastes best for me. Lifetime of the coils is great. About once a month at the most, I change it out. As for e liquid, I make my own. I buy the flavour concentrate, buy the nicotiene 7.2% in vg and buy the food grade vg to mix it all up with, yet coils still remain the most expensive part after buying a mod, for me. Hopefully, this video wil help me save a few bob on the lifetime of the coils thanks!
Kinda hard to run a smok coil at low wattage. Mine don't burn quickly but wanted to watch this anyways. Also don't trust smok's coil rating they over rate them so I recommend running little lower watts with smoke coils for longer lasting.
@@jamienolan6182 smok coils like q2 series last 5 to 6 days max vaping below reccomnded wattage. Some bad ones will last 1 or 2 days. The best coils I reccomend are mesh coils for fire Luke. They last over 2 weeks and is same price as smok coils. You dont lose flavor either

Use wrapped coils rather than atomisers heads if you can. There's a learning curve to get your wicking right but coils last longer, taste better and are far more economical since you can rewick a couple of times rather than have to replace the whole head. You can also clean the coil wire by dry firing and with water and a wire brush but NEVER re-use a coil once the wire looks black and burned. It's the products of combustion - ash, tar etc that are most carcinogenic and harmful. As in cigarettes - same here.
Coil lottery mainly occurs with vape kits and tanks. I have both a smok tfv18 tank and a geek vape z max tank, and when I first bought them I noticed the coils were only lasting a week with regular use. I can’t lie, I do chain vape, but not enough to burn a coil within a week. I’m not sure what causes this, but I’m pretty sure it has something to do with the manufacturing.
Some are more consistent than otther. I used to run Vapresso GT coils, they tasted great but would barely last 2 days. The geek Vape Z tank Quadra coils tend to be the best built but I usually only get between 5 and 10 days. I've just switched to a rebuild able tank cos I'm sick of buying coils.
just put your used coils in white vinigar for about an hour ,and then clean them with hot water afterwards ..... you can re use coils for months this way
I’ve used many tanks over the years, smok, Freeman, horizon tech, etc. In my opinion the best coils for consistency are uwell or aspire. I’m not saying that they are the best for flavour or vapour, but as far as longevity and performance between each coil goes, they can’t be beaten
Do used to smoke cigs? Because sometimes smokers cannot taste the hint of burnt from the coil. I used to be like that but once you getting used to a good vapor you'll become more sensitive to burnt taste
@@athallaaryaseta4023 I still do a bit, 1-3 smokes a day (much better than the 2 packs a day I was at 4 months ago so I'm happy lol) but my sense of smell and taste never really went away while I was smoking heavy, I've still always been super sensitive to taste
coil lottery LOL ill have to remember that one I kept losing it to smok coils especially the prince tank absolute nightmare, sometimes I "hit the jackpot" lol but 9/10 the coil was dead out the box.

Really good video. Though dont forget when recommending nicotine about mtl and stl. Mtl makes sense 12mg for 20 to 30 cigs but in a stl it doesnt. Meaning if you don't say this without specifying some people might get the wrong idea.
New vaper here, quit 3 pk cigs/day so have heavy nic addiction. I bought an $80 vape device. After heavy use in my 1st 2 months after quitting cigs, on my 5th coil, I was not pulling a hit w all settings what was "normal" for me. The device was hot to the touch after installing a new coil, NOT priming it, getting normal hits, then 10 hits in -- stopped getting any. Put device in freezer for 5 min. Then it "worked". I'm doing ALL SORTS of things wrong here; need advice, please, all who know, help?
this is why i only vape with RDAs RTAs or RDTAs, when you get a shit taste, just remove wicks, dry burn coils, rewick and you are good to go plus i get amazing flavor and vapor
i just vape until there is very little of juice is in the tank and then por it out, and then fill the tank with the other liquid. after a couple puffs you'll get the new flavor
How do i get the taste of the old liquid out of the wick. I switched from . honey to strawberry, but i still taste honey. Ive tried q tips, but i think the wicks are still soaked with the old honey liquid

I heard cleaning used coils with grain alcohol for 24 hours. They said they get back to 95% clean (Don't forget to dry) (Won't work on burned upc coils) I am trying this out soon
12mg suggestion for 20 cigs a day. Is this 50VG/50PG viscosity or 70VG/30PG. 70Vg/30PG you would start at a lower mg. Buy mesh coils, they are cheaper and last longer.
Replacing "Reds" ( pack a day )was suggested closer to 18mg to kill the urge to light up and reduce vape time. Worked over a decade ago. VG/PG ratios matter as well, to new vapers. Some ppl do have a bad reaction to high PG juice.

I had a Kaos box mod and it lasted me 5 months before I started getting dry hits I never changed the coil never nor once I still haven't I don't use it anymore I have a smoke kit thingy but the coils on that are already bad and it's been about a month or 2
My last coil lasted more than two weeks, basically almost 3 juice bottles of 10ml. I bought a replacement coil and changed to a CBD juice instead of nicotine and baaam after not even a night, that disgusting taste of burnt cotton started coming...
First time I bought my voopoo vinci, my coil last about 3 weeks. Then I changed to my 2nd coil and it only lasted 3 days. I've been searching the possible cause in internet, and already did every tips in the video with my 3rd coil. But somehow just the 1st day of usage it already becomes brownish. Is there another possible cause than those mentioned in the video?
Jamal Patmon Ijoy coils have always given me horrible luck, I’m using one right now because my FreeMax tank got dropped and the coil on the Ijoy burnt out really fast
I believe you are priming your coils wrong dripping from the top allows you to monitor those holes for saturation and wets the cotton from both ends. to break it down those holes will already be immediately contacted by the liquid on all sides with normal filling that's why they are their. fill from the top usually about 5 drops will do and spread them about best you can.
I think I just started losing the coil lottery. Been vaping about 3 years. I have always used 50/50 flavored tobacco juice at 6 nic. with the same mod, and same coils. The coils always lasted 2-3 weeks. Now with the same coils and juice my last 3 have burned out in 2-3 days.
@Matt Wright Yes, me too. I do about the same thing. Since I roll my coils myself, a pair of coil is dirt cheep for me. I discart them, when they don't look good for me anymore.
@@seaneff28 I recently bought a Wotofo Profile mesh RDA. It's now 5 weeks since. I still vape on the first mesh, that came with it and it is working fine. It has 0,19 ohms and I use it on a Eleaf Pico Squeeze 2 with 40 watts.
@@oldineamiller9007 Really? I've been running the same coil for almost a year... It doesn't seem to go bad. When it looks gross I take the wick out, heat it to red hot and let the nasty stuff burn off. I gentle brush it with a piece of metal which helps the debris fall off and keep hotspots from forming. Works like a charm for me. All I need to do is rewick periodically.
There is this juice I bought the moment i fill up the coil with it , it just burns , the coil is fine but this juice is so shitty like wtf i dont have money to buy another one what am i going to do
I've got my Smok species kit with the baby V2 coils like 4 days ago and the coil is just like it was at day1. Before this kit I was on Smok Priv V8 using the old baby coils. Never had a problem with them,.been vaping on same coils for over a year now....
Shawn Jobin way better flavor. Gotta play to vape man i run a rda when using super sweet juices because the flavor is outstanding. But every day vaping I use a horizon tech falcon with the m-triple coil. Even with sweeter juices my coil typically last a month give or take. Vaping at 72 watts and 250 puffs a day or so.
I couldn't finish watching this video after he made the comment that vaping is cheaper than smoking. Most good juice cost about 20 + dollars and the coils cost five bucks each. I used to smoke one pack of cigarettes a week and they used to cost $5. The only way vaping is cheaper than smoking is if you make your own juices homemade.
if you use a pod with 50mg salt nic it will be way cheaper than using a 300$ vape with 10$ coils and 3mg juice lol for me a week of cigarette = a month of vape
Nowadays packs of cigs can go from 6-14$ in my area so a 30ml bottle for 20 is better, not to mention the fact that a 30ml 50mg bottle can fill a juul pod ~20 times. Buying a new pod would cost so much more. Just an example

so tips 2 thru 8 are basically summed up as dont overheat the coil and tip 10 isnt a tip at all. Im not usually negative like this but what a waste of time this video was.
