That is a big reason why these people drive like absolute morons, because even though they know in the back of their mind that they're likely to cause a crash, they know the guard rails of society will protect them from the ramifications. People who drive like this don't deserve to drive period. It's also a shame that even those that go to court for driving while drunk or other stupid stuff end up back on the road because the judge doesn't really care, just that the driver needs to drive for their job. I also dare people here to call any of those deliberate acts a "mistake" and try to argue that everyone makes mistakes so it's OK to drive like a moron all the time. Drive like that on purpose, lose your license for good or for a very long time (10+ years). Drive without a license or while suspended, jail.

The literal previous example on the website you've just quoted shows this exact situation. The truck is in the wrong and needs to give way to traffic already in the lane. @@linuxares First off, zipper merge is a lie and doesn't work. People aren't water and don't behave like it. People are not autonomous robots. Second, it IS the truck driver's fault for not yielding. Third, the guy that got ran over is totally his own fault for getting out of his car. You step out of your vehicle in a threatening manner then I'm assuming you're a threat and will be treated as such. However, this is Australia and giving the merging vehicle right-of-way is exactly why they have problems like this.

because you have common sense, it's a feeling of common sense. it's true in 99% of cases, all the aggressors claim they were the victim. most also lie about any raging, they claim they were calm and didn't do or say anything. what still shocks me, is how people don't realize that almost everyone has dashcam these days. lot of modern cars have built-in cams already, yet they rage and blame others for their own mistakes ... like what is the point? ITS ON CAMERA! you can lie all you want .. police can just look at the footage. those people are literally like flat-earth level dumb, they probably have never been on youtube either and think it's all a myth and cameras don't exist.

I mean, I feel like some of the dash cam submitters were the drivers at fault. The truck guy who got mad at someone not giving way, then running his truck into somebody's body to prove a point? That's a bit red flag behaviour.

Got my first of those A-Hs the first week I had my dashcam. Dude ran an absolute red in front of my car so I beeped at him. He stopped in the traffic to get out. Lucky a fella in a 4wd was right beside me telling him to bugger off. Footage went straight to the cops. Didn’t make the cut for DC Australia though.

Some will eventually win a Darwin Award.

It's called Insurance scam. In pretty much all places, if it isn' recorded, whoever goes up the ass end is the one at fault. Not that hard. Usually because the car is at a point where they have insured it for more than what it's worth and use that money to get a better car.

Which means the DC driver needs to be able to honestly say he was in fear for his life/safety etc. But in context there is room for him to continue straight/some room on the left to drive away so he wasn't required to attack back either. It's a grey area there but I wouldn't want to take that chance with the legal system. Plus we only saw a recent snippet, there could be more further back down the road that changes the story either direction too. But yeah, both guys are idiots. DC tried to force in when the other guy decided not to let him in, which he is legally allowed to do, and the other guy is a road raging W ⚓️ who has some mental issues. Seems like a fairly standard thing to do. It's basically like the fluorescent flag that you put on your overhanging load behind your car/truck to mark the hazardous protrusion.

In the USA use Precision Immobilisation Technique to punt drivers off the road. Here in Australia certain Ute drivers self PIT by aligning the rear of the Ute with the front of another car in a right hand lane then going hard right to send themselves into an often beautiful but dangerous roll over. However using high beams within 200m of a vehicle is illegal and if the driver in front was not drunk (and think they were unlicensed from when this was first shown) then they could make the argument they were blinded by high beams which would have put cam driver at fault.

@@moderniselife You don't know the position of the other car he could have always been riding the other vehicles tail with no intent to let them in, while a dick move, his right, and that is not a zipper merge situation, the dashed line means that lane is ending and anyone in that lane must give way to the traffic in the right hand lane.

The only way the truck could not be at fault is if he was already in that lane prior to the other car being beside them which is clearly not the case because the car is behind the other truck and the dashcam truck can be seen pushing forwards beside the other truck. Thus the rules states he must give way. This is not a zipper merge. Zipper merges do not have markings. Now in practice, most people will always let the car further in front merge to be kind/courteous etc or because a significant amount of drivers actually don't know road rules. The other merge type has no markings at the end. That is front has right of way. This type of merge is called a zipper like they said. Quoted directly from QLD transport but the rule is essentially the same nationally- Changing lanes When you change lanes, you must give way to any vehicle in the lane you are moving into. This rule applies even if your lane is ending and you have to cross a lane line.

One of the things about modern driving is that everyone, literally everyone, has a relatively nice car now. Back in the 1990s, a guy driving with his mum and wearing a weird arm brace and clearly on his last nerve at all times, would be driving a rusted-out Torana or Celica with bits of the badging missing so it read "TO ANA" or "CELI A". Now the crazies could be anyone. All the cars are shiny.

That's really good to read. We all find that one tool travelling at 90km in a 110k Zone but it's not worth the risk to yourself and others to intimidate with a car. I know as a female I would be absolutely terrified. I've have had plenty of tailgaters while doing 100-105 in a 100 zone. Glad you drive on the calm side now and respect other people.
