A LOT of people telling me that Lumos and Nox doesn't work for them... Apparently, if you change your phone's region to United Kingdom, it will work (you could of course set it right back after). Give it a try if this tip isn't working for you.
I’ve found the issue. It’s not whether Siri is set to UK or US or whoever, it’s how you start Siri. It won’t work if you hold down the multi-use button to summon Siri. You have to have “listening for Hey Siri!” Enabled and say “Hey Siri, Lumos” YOU CAN ALSO SAY “Hey Siri, Accio ‘Instagram’” and it’ll open Instagram or whatever app you say in ‘ ‘
As someone who is made many computer training videos and a harsh critic of many who do, I’d really like to thank you for doing a well thought out, clearly, concise and well paced presentation. The contact is excellent too!👍
I appreciate the way you described each feature without actually activating Siri. I wish people that did videos about Alexa’s features would follow the same protocol.
I totally agree! This has to be one one of the best videos I have ever heard for years. Lot of people tent to speak faster always trying to cover more that their time they and allowed to missing some pointers and have to go back several times.
I’m sure I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I find your video very useful and I enjoy them. They’ve really helped to make my devices more productive and practical. Great job!!!
When doing a task and I have something else to do in 36 mins, I just ask Siri to set a timer for 36 minutes and then I can focus on the task at hand. Also when following a recipe and I need the measurements in grams instead of ounces I simply ask Siri to convert the amount while my hands are full.
Siri saves me so much time, I can ask Siri to remind me when to get washing out of the machine, and if I’m making the evening meal, I just ask her to remind me when I need to do different parts of the prep… then go back to RU-vid.
A siri command I use often is "remind me at work to do whatever I need to do" so when I arrive at work I get a reminder to do what I told siri. Very useful for me.
Hey Siri. Tell this guy this is such a great video. My therapist told me I need to develop better communication skills, this has helped so much! Thank you, I started using these immediately.
Siri is greatly underused and yet it’s so versatile. One of my favourite uses is to ask “Siri what movies are showing at the moment” to check the local showtimes and get a rundown of movie options and even provides and plays the film trailers instantly. Tip: If you have misplaced your board game dice. “Siri roll a dice” and get the result as if you had rolled the dice yourself. Works for coin flipping also “Siri flip a coin”.
@@ProperHonestTech Thank you for the reply. If you have no objection I'd like to know the product details for your desk lamp, which is not detailed within your showcased desk setup products, as I'm looking for a similar harmonious desk lamp.
@@JonSawer No worries - it’s from IKEA, it’s called the Tertial lamp. Very cheap, and I’ve simply fitted mine with a Hue bulb to have it work with my office Hue system (the bulb cost twice as much as the lamp)
As a new iPhone user (iPhone 13 Pro Max) this video has been extremely helpful and informative. I really like the “down to business” tips where it’s straight to the point without a lot of unnecessary dialogue. Thank you!
First of all, I appreciate Siri more than I have in the past. Thanks for that. Secondly, Lumos and Nox will be getting a lot of use from me for a long time.
I know for myself that for years I moved away from asking Siri anything because the answer was always the same “here’s what I found on the web”, for pretty much anything. Useless. But it has come so far, so fast, it’s very useful now. I use it almost exclusively now over Alexa. Thanks for this vid, I didn’t know it did this much more. 🇨🇦👍🏼
I just found your channel and after listening I quickly subscribed. Reason being being is you take your time and don’t rush through. So much better to slow down so we can understand. Thank you.
I got a call from my 93 year old father. He was lost in Indianapolis due to a construction detour. I told him that all he had to do was say “Hey Siri, let’s go home.” Disaster averted.
Since I have “cut the wire” and am using RU-vidTV on my AppleTV, I can simply say “Hey Siri, pause the TV,” or if I’m refilling a drink in the kitchen and have missed something I can say “Hey Siri, jump back 30 seconds on the TV” and it does so. Quite an awesome hands free tip.
Another outstanding video. Great job with the delivery and bonus for includes chapters. I used to ignore Siri but have realized how valuable Siri is and how easy it is to use. Mostly I use Siri to get sports scores, weather updates and occasionally set up reminders.
I like the bill idea and percentages , I have used Siri for the song name for a long time I love that feature. Siri does tons of other things too. I’m sure tutorials are out there. I think sending texts is a huge one for those who don’t like to type like some senior citizens who can’t see well and Siri will read the reply texts back too, this feature has been around for a long time. Always love seeing new features or tricks
Setting reminders, alarms, turning them off.. and the indispensable use is in youtube while showering to skip a video or go back to a previous song for example, also to skip the ad.. thanks for the video
Thank you for the tips! The LUMOS/NOX works great in the USA (California anyway) not sure why other people here say it doesn’t work! I use Siri all the time to play music on my HomePod minis. It’s easy to say “Play country music from 1980 (etc. just pick the type of music you like and any other detail you include and boom - it plays!. I also use it to set timers, especially when cooking. I also use it all the time to open apps - its so much easier than digging through my cluttered Home Screen! I use it all the time for information on people, places (while I’m driving with Car Play) and so much more. Excellent video, much appreciated!
I constantly ask Siri for information about a subject and she always replies that she can’t find any information. I then repeat the request but preface it with “do a google search for” she then provides the requested information without fail. Siri should automatically do a web search for information without being instructed to do so. I was unaware of many of your tips, thanks.
This is excellent. Thank you at last for well constructed comment and an excellent pace of delivery. I wish American presenters would follow this example.
Hi! I usually use the: - Hey Siri, set up an X minutes timer - Hey Siri, call X (name) on speaker - Hey Siri, text X (name), 'whatever I want to tell them' - Hey Siri, save my parking spot (and Siri will pin your car's location on the map, given that you are in the car while giving the command)
If you are listening to a song or a podcast, you can tell Siri to skip forward or skip back for a specific time period. For example, hey Siri, skip forward 20 seconds. hey Siri, skip back 20 seconds. I’m not sure if it works with every single app. But it’s a cool feature. Thank you for this video.
These tips are so useful. Thanks! It would help to know the equivalents in American English, where they differ. Torch vs flashlight, for example. Just found your channel tonight and subscribed right away. You're the most efficient iPhone whisperer I've come across.
When you said torch, I’m thinking that would be cool for flashlight. It took me a second to realize they are the same thing. My hubby struggles to find the button. Thank you.
Just found your channel- good work. One thing that drives us buggy about Siri is you ask a question and, rather than the answer, Siri merely serves up a list of a dozen or so websites. Any workaround so I just can get the question answered without reading War & Peace?
Love your videos and I'm attempting to view as many as possible. However, is there a written list of commands for Siri so that I can remember a particular function available? Great work. Keep it up.
Another way to take a screenshot, which I’ve found invaluable since getting my Amazon Renewed XS, is by double tapping the back of my iPhone. You set it up as follows: Settings, Accessibility, Touch, Back Tap, Double Tap, Screenshot. It even works through my Pop Socket, and has stopped me accidentally either locking my iPhone or changing its volume. Doesn’t work on Mum’s iPhone 7, so guessing it’s just iPhones with Face ID/no Home button.
Yeah, and not one “go ahead and” as in: “I’m just gonna go ahead and…..” . Remember, the introduction is in inverse proportion to the usefulness of the video.
Great video. I use Siri most when driving and can’t use my phone. When someone has sent me a text message, I get a Siri to read it to me and then reply it for me. It works very well.
Hi thanks for a very informative video. I mainly use Siri for a shopping list in Reminders. I add items as I use them up then add items to my online shopping. Siri is also useful for doing crossword puzzles.
@@ProperHonestTech asking Siri how to spell certain words or asking for the answer to any general knowledge questions like “what is the capital of a country?”
Thanks for your very useful videos. Siri can also tell you the state of your connected devices battery states. Say “Siri, how’s my phone battery?”, or “Siri, how’s my watch battery?” if you have an Apple Watch, or “Siri, how’s my headphone battery?”. In fact it works with most bluetooth connected devices.
Oh, thank God, an English guy speaking clearly and concisely, unlike American presentations that are always on a words per minute bonus. Well done, and thanks for the tips ;)
You can change the speed of videos on youtube. Look for the little cog that indicates settings. You can slow down fast American speakers if that helps - I speed up many videos.
