The thing I hate about jrpgs is the cutscenes. Most of them are just swapping character avatars left and right on the screen with the dialogue box below. Developers right now are lazy to animate them.
haha I am the complete opposite of you in that I find a lot of gameplay boring and only play for a good story and characters xD I do agree that when the story is too predictable it can get boring and there should be a skip button for cutscenes when you're replaying though
About complicated combat. For any game, its very hard to me which is complicated and which is simple. I consider Blazblue to be comprehensible but KOF and Marvel vs Capcoms make my brain go explode. For rpg its pretty weird, I love Yggdra Union for its complex field bonuses, skill card system and combat. While for Tactics Ogre, it makes me wanna rip my whole body and soul. Anyways, sorry for spamming your comment section.
The questionable difficulty is very annoying. Boss that are meant to be a long fight with either large HP(people call them sponge) or an enemy that just heals because it wants needs to be gone. If there is no way of stopping your enemy on healing, that is a terrible boss design. Another annoying difficulty is the "one solution problem". This kind of problem can either be too easy to the point it kills fun and excitement or too hard to the point it you only won because of lucky choice or you find the exact solution on the internet. Both of the easy and hard "one solution problem" are frustrating because it kills the freedom of utilizing the skill set given to you by the game. And last, the level spike. No one wants a 20 level gaps.
That’s how modern gamers play video games, Instead of learning how the boss is fighting, better search on RU-vid to make it faster because they can’t wait to see what’s next.
2:38 me and a friend of mine agreed that "walk and talk" segment are terrible. Another youtuber I know said that its the worst part of modern triple A.
