I’ll be 2 years in September 2022! I have never loved myself even more , well my hair !! My locs are me , my locs are a reflection of me: unique & cute ☺️ the braids & sew ins & quick weaves all were me trying to keep up. But my locs, i don’t have to try , they are just who they are ♥️ wake up moisturize , shake , swoop edges & go! When i feel rough it’s like people compliment my locs more Lmaoooo !!! I resonate with this video so much. I started my loc's for spiritual reasons. When I embarked to the journey of self love, learning and growing on who I am, I got so deep on loving and understanding everyday about every detail of my life. You learn to protected yourself from any toxin/ chemicals. We grew up knowing it just hair while it not just hair, it something bigger than we knew. Yes I can totally relate when it comes to seeing someone with locks because I am the EXACT same way. You will be surprised at the reaction you get from that question with someone whose locd just exchanging information. One thing every person has said to me was trust the process and enjoy the beginning stage. I am 6 months locd and I am just now getting comfortable with my hair although i get compliments I wasn’t comfortable with them. My retwist wouldn’t last and I was so use to my hair looking a certain way coming from loose natural I always kept my hair with twist outs or twist but when i did i would style them. Then going to comb coils with MAD SHRINKAGE. Your tips were great. New subscriber. Ps I Love your locs 💕

Yes!! I’m always engaging in conversation about them…def a convo starter. TBH I felt the same way when I started too no matter what the compliments were I was still self conscious because I wasn’t entirely comfortable with myself. ( Really I didn’t have a from to hide behind anymore 🤣) I think we might get more compliments now because everyone with locs look so unique! Also, I started with comb coils as well and WHEW!! I wanna start mine. I want to get a 1-2 inch trim prior to though. I’m glad you added watching videos is cool but it’s YOUR journey 😭 I do the same thing as far as walking up to people and asking how long they had their hair locked up and I always pull these braids down and show em how long my hair is followed by “I wanna start mine” 😭 great video!

I have a 3 month old so I am really busy. The last thing I need is to worry about styling my hair. I haven’t had a relaxer since November 2021. I’m just hesitant about cutting it and the journey of actually locing. Thank you so much for your positive video 💜

I feel like that’s what keeps so many people from starting. Don’t stress that stage love! The starter loc stage can be used to build self confidence and love for your appearance no matter what your hair looks! Also, saving time on my hair has been SO amazing 😌😌😌 You’ll def appreciate not having to style your hair as much!

That’s a good idea! Whew 3 months is such a long time though 😪 How do you keep your scalp from getting super itchy without washing?

I've spent so many years, probably 8-10 years, of watching hundreds of natural hair videos. Trying to understand my hair and what it likes, yet I'm still not entirely sure. I'm tired. I'm also slow doing my hair so it just takes forever. I don't have enough $$$ to be spending $250-350 every other month to get braids (here in LA lol) Also this 9-5 doesn't help either. The past few months I've really been considering locs. I kept telling myself I'll wait until the end of the year or next year but doing my own hair just doesn't work for me. This is me just kind of ranting and pushing myself to get locs sooner lol. I'm very picky, nervous and scared of the "ugly phase" so making this decision is keeping me back but I'm tired ahhhhh

Oh no i hate the term “ugly phase” 😫 let’s call it the “baby loc phase” instead! lol But I literally was just like you watching a million videos and spending way too much on products! I was so over it. The only way that I got over that nervousness was to just do it 🤗 Take a leap of faith! If they don’t suit you or you aren’t really feeling them then at least you can say you tried it❤️

how long is your hair? I started my locs with bra strap length natural hair and honestly never really had an "ugly phase" and I think its the length people usually refer to when they say that. the baby loc phase is so short in the grand scheme of things, its absolutely worth it, especially with the time you will save with locs!! I wish I started sooner
