We all know what comes out when someone who doesn't play games opens their mouth to tell us what to think or how to feel. We thought we'd roast some of the most common ones. Subscribe for more: youtube/com/gameranxtv
@@nathanrileyschulz5862 haha happened to me once I told my mom yes it pauses lets go press any button and if it pauses then you are right ... ( was in a middle of a world boss on guild wars 2 ... i've got kicked from the guild for afk during a massive event xD)
“How many game over screens have you seen before beating it then all along you where learning to overcome failure” holy shit that just made me realize why I’m so good at overcoming failure
The funny thing is there was actually a student that guided his class on a field trip when they're guide got lost because he played assassin's Creed. Everyone was like have you been here before the student said no I played assassin's Creed.
It still counts a digital book is still a book. No matter what you read it on . Phone or TV screen or computer monitor. A digital book is still a book . It's not like they said to read a hard cover book only . Hans it being a loop hole.
A non gamer friend once told me "a videogame could never tell a story of the capacity of Hollywood" I put the last of us on and let him watch Bonus:"a videogame could never have a complex story because they're for kids and they should be able to understand it" proceeded to tell her the whole story of kingdom hearts from 1 to 3
You don't even need to look for recent games to find a complex story, Half Life 1 is from 1998 and the story could have easily been a famous science fiction book
Here's a good one... My ex (mother of my son) tried pulling visitations from me in court on the grounds that I'm a gamer! She literally bitched to a judge about it. If I'm a gamer I can't watch a kid, right? Bad dad... Right? Then the judge asked her if she watched TV and inquired what the difference was... ? 😎
That happened to me one time and the cutscene had a riddle I needed to solve but my younger siblings walked in and yelled like a banshee, making me miss the entire cutscene
zachery pritchett yes OMG! I hate that so much that I get anxious (like literally sweating) when a cutscene plays - in my head I’m like: PLEASE JUST END THE CUTSCENE GAME
I always love when people try to tell me that playing videogames is a waste of time and then when I ask them what they do all day they're like "idk netflix and stuff"
ikr, like games keep our brain active, but TV shows and Movies just make your brain go afk. Gaming is pretty much an excercise for brain. You constantly are thinking, whether you're making a specific build, or figuring out tactics, or ANYTHING THAT'S IN THE GAME... While when you watch shows you just.....afk. You just watch. Your brain is not nearly as active. Oh and Competitive games.....Those make you use your brain to it's limits if you're actually giving your everything for that sweet W.
PsychoticLeprachaun Or 5hey go to clubs/bars all night and regret it in the morning. I got my fav game going all night, you don’t hear me waking up with regret and throw up, and possibly a surprise pregnancy do ya? Nope.
BeastalRage well what about gameshows and or mystery esk type genres? I don’t really watch them myself, but I’d say being absent minded isn’t a thing in those
Im 20 and in uni now and my dad still phones me to ask me if i want so and so game because it looked like something i would like. The dude is an actual legend lol. Couldn't ask for a cooler dad
"Video games cause violence, they said so on the news." "Oh, my 4 year old son plays that game." (Implying your playing a game meant strictly for children)
I can relate so much lol, especially that I have recently put on glasses. People around me are raining me with crap like : "This is because of those games!" while my doctor themself told me that it's something I was born with, it has nothing to do with any phone or games.
@@Miyano_Shiho4869 I am so far the only person in my extended family to not need glasses yet (might need them in the future), and I am the only person who plays games. "Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!"
Which is funny cause if their team wins, it's not their accomplishment. It didn't take any skill on their part, and it's not like it improves their life if their team wins. It's all trivial
My family (I'm the only boy in it AND the youngest by the way) be screaming so loud when they watch their shows that I can barely hear what's happening when I play my games WITH headphones, but when I get mad because I die and, lets say, lose all of my money in Terraria as an example, they pull that "It's jUsT a gAmE" bullshit.
Oh my god, I feel this video. When I was like 19-20 years old, I lived with my sister, her boyfriend, and my mom. My mom didn't work, and I paid more towards bills than my sister and her boyfriend combined. In addition to this, I bought the sole tv in the house, my xbox, and was the only one paying the internet bill. With all that in mind, it annoyed the hell out of me when they hit me with the "you've been playing for hours, let us watch tv," when I had just gotten off work and was wanting to relax with some videogames.
This exactly. I was amazed when he didn’t compare sports fans (after using them in several other comparisons) to gamers in #1. Sports fans to me are worse in that regard. You have no control over the team, their lives have no relevance to yours, and your life is no better or worse regardless of their win or loss. Yet, people will allow unrelated sports teams to affect their real lives (bets, throwing the remote, paying for expensive tickets or merchandise, getting angry, being in a mad mood after a big loss). In contrast, a gamer will likely spend less money on the game of their interest, and have fewer real world consequences of poor performance, but they also get the benefit of achievement/progression/improvement as they can control what’s going on. If you get better, you can take pride in your improvement. If a sports team gets better, you can take pride in your team but if they never do, you’ll constantly be on the losing end. I think people forget that we have been playing various forms of games for all time and a video game is just that.
The first one made me think of how weird siblings relations are. You'll stab them over the XBox/PlayStation (or whatever), but you'll also give them a kidney if they needed one
I’ve decided that I’m not going to apologize or explain myself for gaming. Whenever I’m getting to know people, I will happily discuss gaming as one of my hobbies in a way that makes them feel embarrassed to challenge me. I’m trying to do my part in breaking down the misconceptions non gamers have
Accurate. "Why do you play that game so much, waste of time..." Okay person who posts on Facebook 2-3 times at day. For internet points that have even less value than Reddit karma.
I have played games for years And I used to think: why should I watch people play when I could play myself Me now: 7000 hours on youtube in the past 6 years
I’ve got one: My sister tells me to stop playing my games and “be social.” This from the girl who sits on her phone all day everyday, and has told me to be social after I’ve just muted my headset so my friends don’t hear the conversation. Such is life
Something similar happens with my sister except I'll be in a party with a bunch randoms and she'll yell out loud "ImaGiNE HAviNg FRieNdS" because she apparently doesn't have anyone to play with her, even though she has more friends in Roblox then me on my Xbox and all she ever does is draw in her notebook bitching about how she's lonely
"You've played a few hours straight without doing anything else? You are definitely addicted!!!" No, I've been working all week and like to do something I really like doing, for a change, thank you!
My sister said that once and spent 1 hour 45 mins JUST to get past the beach on the d-day mission of CoD: WWII and there's not even any fighting on that bit
This is probably the greatest educational video I've watched to show me liking video games, even though I get frustrated with them cause I'm not really good at them, is a normal thing. Thank you!
“You don’t learn anything from these videos or games” -My grandparents Yes, as if we don’t do enough work at school as well as homework. Not everything has to be fucking educational!
Every complex word ive ever learned has either been taught to me through video games or reading a book when I'm not supposed to be, like back when I was in school
Well, it's when a fellow gamer has all the high-end stuff in a game after a week of release so he can go on a rampage and murder everyone on sight only because he didn't have a life and he can play 24/7 to get all these items. it's good to be a gamer, it makes life less stressful and actually enjoyable, but if I have a job in the moring I don't expect the game to be my other job.
The only time I used the "it's a damn game" argument was when another gamer was taking a game so seriously and started preaching it like it was law. I told him to cool it it's a damn fucking game, not real life. He backed off after because he realized he was overexcited and being a self absorbed twat.
first time my mom understanded that and said ok come to me after you finish this sometimes she doesn't you know what ıdc what that is ım your parent so you're gonna do what ı tell you to do she literally says that because she knows game can be important from person to person but she doesn't care if its important to me she wants me to do this thing now so ı gotta do it :(
I am married and it gets followed up when i cannot pause it with "oh the game is more important than me " and my response is "for the next 20 min or so yes we have many years to make up for that time "
Agreed about everything especially the 2nd point. I have been learning from games as a kid but only realized that when I became an adult and now I don't give up on stuff in real life on which I failed. Because I know that with enough effort, learning and dedication you can achieve victory. Also the 1st point, yeah we all know it's a game, thanks for telling me something I already knew and wasting my time. Just like your hobbies are special to you, video games are special to me, so no, it's not just a game, it's something I truly love.
I learned so much about ancient Greece from playing AC Odyssey with all DLCs and TW Troy Saga with all DLCs. Thank you video games and their developers(good ones).
As a 33 year old Latina gamer i get this a lot: Them- “You spend MAD money on video games!” Me- “But I dont drink, do drugs, go clubbing, buy makeup, buy expensive clothing, waste gasoline, go to the movies, go to the mall, go to concerts... all that shit YOU DO that I see as a waste of money.” Im adopted from Honduras. Computer video games helped my english, math, geography, history etc etc etc. they legit have games MADE FOR LEARNING.
@@orald900 bc u kno damn well Women of Color (Latina and black women for example) aren't represented in the gaming community nearly as others. The only time women are even talked about during gaming is for sexual gratification.
@@RoninMilli Yeah , that's right but hey you know fuck the world right ..... tengo mucho amor para ustedes , viva los latinos y latinas en todo el mundo ❤
I have a teacher who i think understands video games and how they can be educational because he asked the class ‘who plays assassins creed then said you should try the Jerusalem dlc. Btw he’s a RE teacher
04:40 sigh, no parents will ever understand. Kids have to go undercover or tried to lie in order to get lunch money in Asia. 06:30 Hugs. 08:00 Slap him~! Ending: You have pretty much summarised it.
Now imagine having been a gamer since the 80's, my first system was a Ti-99/4A, still loving the hobby, and still having to hear all of this crap, and more from people.
Here's my plan. If I spend my life staying up stupid late and playing video games, which I have my whole life pretty much, when I have a kid or kids they might be less dependent on sleep. Then I let them play video games all night, then my grand kids do it and so on, eventually my descendants wont even require sleep at all and their motor functions will be much better. FYI I'm 28 and have no kids and I can function pretty well on 5-6 hours of sleep lol
Ever since becoming a mental health professional, gaming has become my go to for self care. It helps draw me away from all the stuff I hear and empathize with throughout the day. Of course I was a gamer before also...my work just gives me more excuse to play now :D. I also met my mortgage broker through gaming. Also went to a gaming friend's wedding because we've been playing together for years and actually gotten to know him quite well. In fact all my good friends now are actually gaming friends; they get me. They understand my lame jokes, they know who I really am. There is a saying in Chinese and it's roughly if you really want to know someone, watch them play mahjong. I'd say the same goes with gaming. Plus my wife said to her mum and friends she prefers to have a gaming husband because he'll always be at home and not outside getting smashed and potentially sleeping with other women.
You so right about assassin's creed, when ac unity came out I started learning about the French revolution in school, was so cool listening to what the teacher and actually seeing that stuff in the game
So relatable, Bro:come help me do something stupid Me: can’t, I’m online Bro: so just pause the game Me: 🤬 Imagine if you could pause an online game, trollers would thrive.
Michael OMG all the fucking time. “ just pause it” says the parent or other fuck head who’s talking “because it’s an online match of csgo there is no fucking pause dammit!” Says me
I don’t think that Roblox and Sims take that much effort. Therefore they could be considered easy and family - friendly games. Do you play other games such as Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto (no matter which one), Assassin’s Creed and etc.?
My parents just get mad why I dont just turn it of when it is live, so they can watch ther live un pausable tv shows.(they also have a tv in there room)
That’s both the worst thing and the best thing ever if you use to your advantage. I mean, it’s not like your parents will know (or give a shit) that the game your playing right now isn’t actually online, right?
Me *Somehow plays as myself in Smash ONLINE even though I'm not there* Random Person: Pause it and help me with ________! Me: It's online. Random Person: So? Me: ( Insert angry Raven face) Me: It's online
this should not be a thing in what? 8 years unless your having kids at 55+ no parent who should have grown up in the golden age of Videya gaimes should be this bewildered by it because if you were 10 when Nintendo came out your 40 right now.
superkami guru that’s why I’m glad games are including a pausing option. So whenever someone wants to talk/ tell me something during a cut scene, I can hit pause without looking like a dick who wants to know what’ll happen next haha
Nope can't do that it's online multiplayer but when I die I will gladly do what is asked. Oh how long before I die can't give you exactly a time frame I am on a role now but keep fucking talking to me and I will be dead in the next 3 seconds
