I talk about what it's like having lived here for almost 50 years and what all the locals know that others may not automatically know once they arrive.

The first Mardi Gras took place on March 3, 1699, when French explorers Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville and Sieur de Bienville landed near present-day New Orleans, Louisiana. They held a small celebration and dubbed the spot Point du Mardi Gras. New Orleans did not host the first organized Mardi Gras parade, however. That distinction goes to the city of Mobile, Alabama, which organized its first Mardi Gras parade in 1703, a year after the city’s founding.

@@livinginmobile After I moved here from overseas, I was intrigued to hear contrasting views on the topic Mard Grad. This piqued my curiosity and led me to delve into historical research. My opinion is that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. ;-)
