It’s good that Cartier now make their own movements but worth also knowing that they sourced some of their previous movements from the likes of JLC and Audemars Piguet.
Absolutely, Cartier has a rich history of collaborating with other prestigious watchmakers like Jaeger-LeCoultre and Audemars Piguet for their movements. Cartier’s evolution in watchmaking is definitely worth noting! 👏
Renault (re-no in France, re-nalt in USA) also makes cars. My neighbors had a Dauphine in the mid 60s. I have always thought of Cartier as a jeweler first and a watchmaker second. Their rectangular shape is what comes to mind when I think of a dress watch. The Crash reminds me of the Salvador Dali "Melting Watch" painting. There are melting watches available that are inspired by that painting. I wonder if Cartier likewise took that painting as inspiration for the Crash.
