What type of water do you recommend? Reverse Osmosis? Is well water too harsh on kidneys due to mineral content? Please advise. Thank You.

Thank you for all this precious information. All the nutritionist tell us to avoid dark chocolate, can I replace it with cacao? I like your heart ❤️ but don’t understand the answer?

I work outside, mainly fencing and similar jobs on farm. I take with me: water 2 x600mL electrolytes 1.2L, thermosvacuum flask for tea no sugar 750mL and 500mL, a frozen bottle of water thawing throughout the day 1.2L, and up to 2L milk. On a warm day, say over 40oC (103oF) I'll drink most or all of that during the day, plus other drinks before and after work. Cheers, from Australia.

Hello there, Michael. I also grew up in Australia and did a lot of outside work. I'm curious about your use of a thermos for tea: do you just use it to keep water hot for use on separate tea bags? My father used to make a thermos full of tea straight from a teapot; I've never forgotten the ghastly taste of lukewarm tea that's been brewing for most of the day. Good luck! (from South Africa).

@@haroldwood1394 One is tea with milk, and yes, if I don't have it by late in the day it is very ordinary to drink. Fortunately, with ambient temperatures being what they are, the thermos is often too hot to touch without gloves, so no issue with it staying hot, except in the coldest months. The other larger thermos is just hot water for tea made with bags during smoko and lunch. Cheers, from NSW.

Last July I called my doctor's office to make an appointment to discuss some health concerns. They told me he was not seen any patients until March! So I elected to see a nurse practitioner which still took 6 weeks to get in. She listened, but did not provide any council as to the problems I discussed. She wanted to see what the blood work said. I received the blood work by email. She never called me to discuss the results. According to my labs I'm prediabetic. Primary care doctors are $hit. The specialists I see are outstanding, but the general practitioners are worthless today. How the heck are we supposed to get help?

I agreed, i was recommended to a neurologist 5 yrs ago, 8:14 test, showed my creatinine was a tad high. Few visits later 6 months went ny, he suggested i do a biospy, 99.9 percent safe. After the biospy, no monitors in recovery. They gave me lunch which made me nuisance, my heart was heaving,i screamed at my husband get the doctor, im dying!!! My bp fell 55/45...i was my husband signed for me to get a broken arter to ne coiled in the kidney tgey did the biopsy. If not, i wont make it through a few hours. With my kids so young, crying for mom. I had to agree. Emergency coil repair. I stayed overnight and begged to ho home. I was realized, no results from my nephorlogist. I called and called, appt in 3 months. He went iver my horrible biospy and said he dont know what happend. Trst was undetermined. 6 months later, another followup visit, during covid. He told me your last test dropped extremely low on gfr. We need to retest in two weeks. Then i get a call, youre at stage 5 failure, you javecto cobsider hemo or pd and get on trasnplant list. I just git lad off after 25 yrs. This is a nightmare! With 6 weeks, i started to be a pd patient. If not, my nephorogist said you will die, you dont want to die with your kids so young. This have been amazing. I made the active list a year and a half after pd. Loops you have to jump thru. I pray i get the call and have another chance at life. Am i just a patient forvthe money? Or this could of been avoided?

Thank you for the clear information. Could you explain your concerns about potential harm from creatine, which is sometimes recommended for older people; is the harm dose-dependent, or are there other factors?

In a future video, would you talk about macro nutrients? I’m specifically interested to know how many grams of proteins, carbs, and fats one can eat in Stage 2. Love the videos and the recipes.

Can you hurt your kidneys by doing a 10 day regime of 800 milligrams of Ibuprofen? I had a bad shoulder last summer and my nurse practitioner said I could do 800 MG of Ibuprofen every 8 hrs for 10 days. After 4 days of that my urine turned brown and had a high amt. of protein in it. It was scary so I went to the E.R. for urinalaysis. I'll NEVER do that again. Come to think of it we had also started a carnivore diet so I stopped that as well.

I am not a doctor but I can answer your question. If you have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD) like me, do not take any nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs including ibuprofen. If your kidneys are functioning normally, you can take ibuprofen as recommended by your doctor or NP. Did your NP order labs (blood work) prior to recommending the ibuprofen? Were you dehydrated when your urine was dark in color? Did the ER doc confirm that your urine had high levels of protein (albumin)? Many advocates of the carnivore diet will profess that only eating meat is fine for your kidneys and can even improve your CKD. There are no studies to validate that claim. There have been studies that warn of the risk of hypertension in children and type 2 diabetes in adults that are on a carnivoire diet. The carnivoire diet can lower you A1C level that is a marker for type 2 diabetes. Most people cannot tolerate the carnivoire diet after a month or two. It is really difficult to only eat animal protein. If you were in fact dehydrated, the carnivoire diet could very well have been the culprit.
