i still say kurt’s clan because what happened to him is basically what happened to the entire clan especially the children getting mutilated murdered in front of their parents imagine making a child out of love just to watch their limbs being dismembered and other stuff like that it’s truly horrific

he was super cool, he was what a true average hunter represented, pretty similar to Leorio, not strong but just decent. Then he gets offed just like that.

yeah, Pokkle's death was brutal and unexpected. It's understandable that it had a strong impact on you.

Not only that but if you also watched the 99 version of the anime there his character and his relationship with Ponzu gets a little more fleshed out so you end up very attached with them which makes their deaths even more gut wrenching.

@@Purriah I guess when they say the part "don't ever take anything away from us" its their way of saying don't kill any of us or Don't Kill are family members cause in there own way the Phantom Troupe is a family in that regard. Which is why there retaliation on the Mafia in YorkNew city was both swift and brutal while looking for Kurapika to get revenge.

Even as a kid I always thought they got undeserved deaths, heck all chimera ant arc got me traumatized for a bit since most of it was so new to me (not talking dead or violence since I watch DB and Evangelion before even younger)

I think it makes perfect sense that the troupe created this motto for themselves, and Meteor City more generally, because of Sarasa's death. But I don't think it necessarily follows that the Kurta had anything to do with the murder. It could simply be a message they started leaving everywhere as a warning, to make a name for themselves.

yeah, it's possible that the Phantom Troupe had a personal motive in the Kurta massacre, considering their motto and the brutality of the killings.

well, It's possible that Sarasa found something belonging to a certain group and they sought revenge, involving a Kurta clan member. The brutal murder of the Kurta clan could indeed be uncharacteristic for the Phantom Troupe. Sheila's presence during that time frame could be suspicious, potentially indicating her involvement in trying to prevent the Kurta massacre. (🤔)

It's kinda wild to me just how many people specifically mention Ponzu and Pokkle. Sarasa's death easily hit me harder, but it seems I'm the odd one out.

Likely not gonna happen I think as soon as Kurapika sees a Spider he will snap, same as Spiders who can now kill Kurapika since his chains were removed from Chrollo's heart so no gambling on whether Kurapika's post mortem nen would kill Chrollo or not

His chain jail cannot be broken by them, period. Through a team effort, they can get around it, but there's also no indication that Kurapika can't chain all of them up with it, since he creates the chains as needed, so he can always extend his links as long as he has more Nen

@@brendonw456 No, they CAN kill him, they know about his chain jail (Pakunoda's sacrifice) which is basically a death sentence for Kurapika since the only reason he beat Uvo was because of Uvo's stupidity and lack of informations about chain jail. Not only do they know about all of it now, Kurapika doesn't know about their abilities which is another disadvantage which could get him killed.

We will never see DC arc and that's almost assured. However current arc maybe will end in one decade.

there is a posibility, equally, that Hisoka is hiding himself as Illumi and the kalluto onboard the ship is not real Kalluto, the latter one is farfetched, but Hisoka hiding as Illumi isnt so much, considering that it also somehow, compared to the rest of the troupe, he has an ID that lets him go through every floor, including floor 1 of the ship, as well the readyness it talkd with the hunter zodiacs, more so if you consider Illumi being considered no longer a hunter after teh election situation and the mission to hunt him at that time, other details including also it wearing kneepads when it did not before, and the focus on choosing a place where it can shower well, which is something Hisoka is shown a lot, taking showers and baths, its how you see him when he meets machi during the tower arc, how the rest met him in greed island and such, plus making sense in how its a "hiding in plain sight" which with the new abilities of texture surprise its possible

You...didn't get the tone shift when Gon and Killua were held hostage by a group of criminals we had already seen murder 2 characters that were set to have major roles? The same group that murdered the entire clan of one of the other main characters? That same main character whose entire power was designed strictly around getting revenge against these criminals? Or when they decapitated another major supporting character on-screen/on panel? I just don't know how people make it through Yorknew and don't catch the tone shift by that point...that entire arc is suuuuuper grim and dark

@@brendonw456 uh no being held prisoner by "bad guys" happens in PG-13 movies and generic action flicks. decapitations are a staple of standard warrior action movies, would be instantaneous and painless, and often are a cliche that exists to illustrate how "hardcore" a toothless villain is (not in this case but still). The kurta massacre happened off-screen and relies on bitch-made Kurapika's retelling. Gyro killing his dad, for example, happened on-screen, and that struck like a hammer as a result, harder than the reference to the massacre did. Watch a movie called "Hannibal;" probably before your time, but you'll plainly see the difference between a warrior lopping off a melon, and a predator ripping open their victim's head, playing with their brain, and then eating them. It's the difference between horror and action. Hence the tone-shift reference. ALSO - Yorknew was the WORST arc/season! From the name Yorknew, to the "Mafia," to the "heist," (just kill them? suck on that one danny ocean), to the fortune-telling daughter, to Chrollo's fake tough-guy dialogue, to the decision to focus on Kurapika and the troupe instead of the boys, Hisoka, Hunters, or Ging. It was like Nen 201, a course Togashi THOUGHT was necessary to further illuminate geography and the greater world of nen-users prior to Greed Island, and explain away Kurapika's absence from the following arcs (although, thank god), but ultimately unnecessarily closing off loops that could/should have marinated until the Succession War. There is no tone shift in that arc from the conflicts of the previous storylines. It doesn't get really real until the Ants.

Like those are literally the two spots I can predict on almost every single list. In fact, I'll peruse just a few random samplings I can find online and there are 3 arcs that not only consistently top people's lists...the top 3 spots are almost exclusively these 3 arcs being swapped around: Chimera Ant (most consistently in #1) Succession War (most consistently #2) Yorknew (most consistently #3) On roughly 10% of these lists that Im sifting through, the Hunter Exam sneaks into one of these spots and either Yorknew or Succession War slides down to #4. Now...with that considered and you actually trying to cite Hannibal, the second worst book AND film in that series, for an example of "quality" is fucking hilarious. The only thing worse than that one is Hannibal Rising, and that set the bar so low that you'd need to drill to the core of the earth to trip over it. Now, since you decided to assume you know my age, then try to condescend using that incredibly wrong assumption, and then CONTINUE FURTHER to show that you actually have no taste nor the ability to think beyond your own POV, I'm not gonna waste another second on you. You're clearly nothing more than a contrarian (I mean ffs, you actually tried to state that focusing on ANOTHER one of the main characters for one arc as a bad thing...that is just a remarkably stupid and childish criticism), and probably a middle aged dude with the mental capacity of a teenager. Pretty sure it's the opposite. It's only a physical death, your spirit lives on in the ant you become. That's kinda a relatively significant plot point from the arc.

Makes me think they didn't do it. He said they were strong but they massacred them like play things. Think he was just trying to troll Kurapika before his death.

He's roughly the same age as PT members so he would have to do it as a child or teenager (I basing his age not on his look but his childhood friends's look who look like teenagers currently, chp. 395 or something close to it)

I think the only character with purely good intentions in the series is Leorio, others have mostly selfish intentions which are harmless at best. But coming back to your point I think Beyond will have a selfish motivation which will be morally questionable. Definitely see him as a wild card type of character rather than full on "bad guy" or "good guy"
