If not for Russo, we don't have the Attitude Era. Vince was actually happy with the PG product that he was showing in 95 and 96 while they were getting their tails handed to them in the ratings. Go watch the Monday night wars, it's all there
@CarbonRollerCaco

Technically, that's an apt description of Russo's _writing,_ not Russo himself, but yeah. Dunno about Vince _McMahon's_ alignment-pretty much every scummy-ish thing he did, including those that fueled his in-ring character, was in service of a tough business, and, yes, that ambiguity itself is likely also a part of that-but there's no doubt to me Vince _Russo's_ legitimately evil. Good people don't write TWO incidences of performers landing harshly-one near-fatally, one ACTUALLY fatally-then channel them in future writing like nothing. Especially with the second incident bumping off the puppet for the first one and its sequel. Russo's a sadist, no question.

I said this before, but DBry's elimination in 2015 was made worse by the fact that they had Goldust enter right afterwords. Seeing "SHATTERED DREAMS" on the tron after DBry was eliminated makes me feel that wasn't an accident. (Obviously not Goldust/Dustin's fault to be ABSOLUTELY clear)

Say what you want about Vince (plenty to criticize), but the company was meeting most of our goals and putting out a product we were proud of before COVID hit. Being the capitalist he is, Vince acted as predicted and put profits before people. Despite that, XFL was one of the best jobs I've ever had, filled with seasoned pros who knew the game and wanted the best for fans. I firmly believe we would've gotten at least a 2nd season had we made it through the pandemic. I'm glad Dany Garcia and The Rock have resurrected it. Wanna watch some real football with bone crunching hots and big jiggly boob having cheerleaders?! Wanna sneak into their locker room?! COME WATCH THE XFL!" There are a couple inaccuracies and contradictions here. I mean, you can't talk about how Goldberg was punished for being from WCW while then listing Goldberg becoming champion as also being a mistake. Not saying I don't agree with 90% of the video, but stuff like DDP, where he got buried because he went up to Undertaker with a written outline of how their first match should go, after being told not to do that (because everybody knew Taker would freak out if handed a script, especially by a guy who just got into the company). DDP screwed himself. Booker T did pretty well for himself, even if he totally should have won the Mania match vs Triple H. Steiner was a shell of his former self by the time he got to the WWF. They had intended on him winning the world title at that year's Mania, but he would get gassed really quickly and was not the Scott Steiner of WCW anymore. Those Rumble endings, though...oooooff...those were disasters.

The first XFL was a blatant attempt to ride the NFL Blitz video games alongside WWF video games getting big, and that's why people didn't bite then. Seriously, the whole idea stunk of Vince seeing footballers delivering post-tackle Hogan leg drops on an arcade screen and thinking "Football meets wrestling? I gotta get me some of that bread!". As for nostalgia, that's the problem when real people are franchises in their own right: they have lives of their own as well, and limited and deteriorating ones at that. @@FFA441 oh I agree I feel in the gets wise he should have been the overall winner. However as the feud was extended with the Authority into September or October of that year it works as a continuation of the story. That being said those it wasn't the Authority that beat him but rather DX representing WWE as a whole going over Sting & NWO, which made zero sense as he was never a member of NWO black and white but rather Wolfpack, who represented WCW. The sour taste for me was the angle was built as Song taking on the Authority before that night and after that night. To me Mania could have gone either way with you continuing the story. Sting or HHH could taken the L and depending on the follow up made sense. However that night they kicked that whole storyline build yo the curb to be like WWE won the Monday night wars. For that reason alone I hate it also the match just wasn't the best. My point is many people bitch and moan that people complain WWE only brought him in to lose to show WWE was superior and he lost his only 2 matches. This was in large part due to him getting injured in a way WWE wouldn't clear him. As that could have build to a Sting vs. Authority Survivor Series Match, Sting vs. Orton and Taker vs. Sting to name a few matches that were on the books before his injury. The injury ended what I thought was the storylinr much earlier than it was supposed to.

To be fair to Linda McMahon, it's pretty unlikely any Republican would get elected, especially to the Senate, in the state of Connecticut. There may be conservative districts, I'm not sure, but the state is reliably blue. She may have been better off running for the House, in which case she can try to get elected in one of those conservative districts, if indeed there are any. Each state only has two Senators. I'm not taking a side here, btw, this is politically neutral. Also, I'm from the east coast, but not from CT (drove through it once). Just a civic observation.

After reading the comments it seems that some of you are biased when it comes to the xfl. There are only a few companies that have been moderately successful going up against the NFL when it comes to professional American football with the AFL and the USFL being the most recent "competitors" in the 1960s and 1980s respectively. Vince thought that he could create an alternative (read:competition) to the juggernaut that's the NFL and history has proven that it doesn't end well for that competitor. The American public usually gets bored with the new product after a few weeks and view it as inferior to the NFL because their players are usually not the big names that the NFL has.

I think that the Wrestlemania 25 main event should have been hbk/taker, even though the rumble winner that year was orton, who ended up main eventing mania.

Not to mention no one wanted HHH vs. Orton that year. They didn't want Orton to win the Royal Rumble that year it was forced. I remember they was saying WrestleMania 25 should have a first time winner challenging for the title at WrestleMania. I remember shortly before Jeff Hardy won it at Armageddon reports was starting is should be Jeff Hardy to go the distance and challenge and win the title.

In terms of Linda and running for congress, in the US running for congressional seats can actually MAKE you money so yes while she spent we won't fully know how much she made.

I still feel like xfl was pretty cool. And itched that football scratch. Prolly woulda done decent 2nd time around if wasn't for pandemic.

Daniel Bryan didn't need to win the 2015 Royal Rumble he was made at WrestleMania 30 by beating 3/4 if Evolution in one night. Now he most definitely should have at least made the final four of the match, but he did not need to win it, Reigns was given the win in the 2015 Rumble because of the reaction he got the year before being runner up to Batista, weather or not it was a good decision or not, it was a reactionary decision. Also in regards to the 2014 Royal Rumble as a whole WWE did learn from that nine years later by not putting Sami Zayn in the 2023 Royal Rumble as Cody's win would've been met with the same reaction of Batista's win in 2014, so if Sami Zayn wasn't winning the Rumble better then not to have him in it.

Only reason xfl folded the second time was the pandemic. It was going to make it.

The XFL shouldn't be on here as they did learn from their mistakes and the relaunch was much better done and actually successful, until COVID killed it and Vince had to shut it down.

Uh, your facts are questionable here. The XFL 2020 was on FIRE. Stadiums were packed every game, with crowds that were absolutely deafening. I am confident the claim that ratings dropped is somehow miscalculated or misrepresented, because they absolutely were not dropping. The only thing that hurt the 2020 XFL, was the pandemic.

Daniel Bryan not winning the rumble always confuses me. Not because they got it wrong, it's because of the fans. Oh boohoo Bryan ain't win, but for the fact y'all wanted to riot was just wild.

#3 on this list about to rear it's ugly head again. There is virtually no chance Sami vs Roman main events wrestlemania but anything else will be a slap in the face to everybody watching raw and SD week to week the entire time Cody has been on the shelf

You just don’t know how painful it was to endure Linda McMahons Senate runs. First of all, she was NEVER going to beat Dick Blumenthal in 2010. She had even worse odds against Chris Murphy. Second, every day I had to watch poor old JR get kicked in the crotch over and over again. What that man ever did to make them hate him so much, I’ll never know. I’m just glad she lost and I’m glad my vote helped beat her back twice.

To be fair to Linda. Running in the north east as a republican is very hard no matter what your background is. So you can’t fault her for trying to run for office. That’s like blaming Kevin owens for facing Roman after losing to his before.

Triple H beat Sting to make sure that everybody knows that WWE won the war, 15 years after it was done. Do you guys really believe that he's is gonna make former AEW star Cody (company that destroyed his NXT) dethrone the poster boy of WWE, Roman Reigns at WM? 😅

Why would you have Hogan vs Sid when you could have Hogan vs Flair? Because if you’d had Hogan vs Flair we wouldn’t have gotten the title match between Flair and Savage, and Savage was a much better wrestler than Hogan.

As much as i hated the piggy James story, one that made me feel even more uncomfortable was in 2003 how they treated Molly Holly with all the comments about how she has a fat ass even though she obviously doesn't. What made it worse for me was that molly was the heel and all the jokes were being made by face wrestlers and commentators, and you were meant to agree with them.
