Great video! I’m a junior and I agree with everything! I remember freshman year I thought I was going to be friends with the people in my dorm forever, but they started to be clique-like and just straight up a-holes, so I dropped them quickk.
We used to have a joke that at WVU point A to point B is always uphill, and going back from point B to point A is also always uphill. I remember after a few months the freshmen girls would be alarmed how they couldn’t get their jeans on because their calves had become so bulging and muscular.
as a freshman going into the second semester, my air forces were already trashed coming into school. but you would not belive the state that they are in now. PLEASE get shit shoes it will be a life savior. idk what half the things I've stepped in at the frats but I promise you'll need them.
1:15 pick your dorms carefully 3:05 get yourself a pair of shit shoes 4:25 balancing your studying and partying 5:45 mental health is so important 7:25 gaining weight and changing is normal 8:46 widen your friend circle and don't get attached 10:05 if you don't like walking don't come here 11:05 binge drinking is not f*cking cool 13:05 go to class (or don't) 14:45 enjoy it
Hi! I am a forensic examiner major, and I do not want a big, busy, party lifestyle, and I want my own space (so like a bed with walls and door that i can escape from other people). Honeslty, with the amount of parting that people say is a WVU, it is making me not want to even attend lol. Any recommendations? PS. do you think it would just be easier to go to a different UNI? Im an out-of-state student so its going to be incredibly expensive, and I don't want to waste money on a BIG UNI, when I want a more smaller college lifestyle.
Hey! Honors is a great hall, its basically like a hotel. Summit cafe is right next door and it's not too long of a walk from downtown if you go thru the Life Sciences building. It's pretty quiet though, and the RAs are strict about drinking/drugs so be careful with that. Most people in that hall dont really go out or anything though
Jordyn Underkoffler hey! i live honors hall right now!! it’s a nice enough hall but i definitely wish i would’ve lived in seneca or oakland. if you have more classes on the evansdale campus, i wouldn’t recommend living in honors hall unless you want to spend a lot of time traveling back and forth between the two campuses. it’s super close to life science building but the rest of the downtown campus is an uphill walk. also, don’t fall for the whole “honors kids don’t party” thing because basically everyone on my floor parties and even has alcohol and drugs in their room despite the rules against that. there are a lot of houses nearby that upperclassmen rent and throw parties in every weekend so if you don’t want to go far for a party those are options
I plan on going to WVU next year in the fall. Can u do a video on music major/ Drumline auditions so I can get more information about it. I really love the Drumline that’s there
Why is it so difficult to get back late at night from downtown? I had to live on Evansdale cause of some commitments but I still would like to go out once in a while. Is uber not an option? When does the PRT and Bus routes close?
you can uber, but the rates skyrocket on weekend nights because everyone is doing the same, it just adds up after a while. The busses stop at 2am I wanna say, or earlier, but arent super reliable. The prt closes on the weekends. I would recommend Lyft, because they dont have surcharges so it would be the best option!
Hiii so this video was so helpful!! And WVU is a place where I recently became interested in... so I’m a Jr in hs and I don’t party at all but in college I wanna kinda join the scene and have fun but I also wanna focus on school and other activities on campus what dorm do you suggest living in like i wanna still have fun but I don’t wanna party 24/7
Hello, I’m going to be a freshman this fall and I’m currently signed up to stay in Seneca. I was wondering if it was as social as the other dorms since it’s apartment style or if it’s more closed off. I was also wondering if it was in a good location with parties and all of that and also where most freshman classes are. I was really stuck between that and Lincoln and I’m still iffy!
Lexi Powell it is a little bit more closed off yes but you do have 3 other roommates which is good! I personally would not like to live there but that’s cuz I’m super extroverted. Its about a 4 min walk to campus but it’s a lil bit of a hill back up to Seneca. Its in Sunnyside which is where the block parties are but it’s not a bad location!
Is paying for college on your own easy to handle? I will be paying for my education, but I'm out of state which is the only reason I don't want to go there. I got a lot of money from the school though, so I wouldn't be paying that much.
Get as much in grants and scholarships first (anything you don’t have to pay back). After you’ve exhausted all those options, THEN fill in the gap with a deferred student loan. And starting next summer, set aggressive goals for making money to put toward room and board (FYI - apartment living is generally going to be cheaper than what you’re paying to live in the freshman dorm).
question that may be a bit stupid but hey, I figured if anyone would know the answer it would be you! I am going pre-veterinary, and I value my academics over all else because of that. Is it possible to go to WVU and not drink/party? It seems like it’s the center of WVU student life and you’re a bit outcasted if that’s not your scene. Please be honest! I won’t be hurt either way ❤️ thank you!
it is definitely possible! Because the school is so big there are lots of different communities and priorities. As long as you stay dedicated and disciplined it is totally possible to be successful (but still have fun)!
What dorms would you recommend for someone that wants to live close to where the life science building is but that busses will run to, and where it is convenient to go downtown once in a while. I won’t be attending until 2020 so I have plenty of time to research the university.
I’m a current junior at WVU and I don’t party! I’ve never even been to one - and the only time I’ve been in a bar was for a student org semi-formal where they rented out a room. There are plenty of other things to do, so if you think wvu is right for you don’t let the whole “party school” rep discourage you!
stalnaker's really great because they have their own dining hall o you dont have to leave your dorm on snowy days and its location i one of the best!! Plus you have AC which is nice. Just remember to kee pyour door open and make friends because it isn't the most social dorm but its not bad!!
It depends, do you think you'll want to go out multiple nights in a week? If so, then I think you might. Also if most of your classes are downtown it's sometimes a pain to live on Evansdale because the buses & PRT arent 100% reliable. If you did want to move downtown and want something as nice as Oakland, Seneca is a good dorm!!
Caitlin Pogel waited!!! Some classes you dont even need the books even if the syllabus says you do, and some classes (like CS101) you dont need the book at all
its pretty good!! It's like having your own apartment so its very independent and you have a kitchen which none of the other dorms have. And it's right above Sheetz which is a plus!
