Lol we made a rule in our 4 player group no saving scumming which quickly got abandoned when people disagreed about what the definition of it was

Most of my savescums came from accidentally attacking characters and npcs while figuring out controlls

I'm a bit of a re-starter. Not primarly because I want everything perfect, but because I nearly always enjoys the early/mid game more than I enjoy the endgame.

Completionists should definitely be on that list. Although some might say they're actually a combination of Explorers and Min-Maxers. I think they're a category of their own, especially the achievement hunters.

Well sometimes I think about it as reliving a memory and when something doesn't happen how I wanted I'm like. "That's not how it happened". And I reload the save until it goes how I wanted it to.

In my game I like to believe saves are something one of my long-running, overpowered as hell OCs is doing to help the adventure run smoothly without directly getting involved💀

I was like this but just with my romancing of Astarion, so I ended up knowing a LOT about romancing Astarion, because everyone else either died or left (except our daughter shadowheart) ended up starting a new run where I romance Astarion AND try to keep friends around lmao

I'm dating Astarion again... and I play as bard. When I clicked on this video I knew I was gonna get called out so badly I would probably have to go lie down and quietly cry in my pillow, but instead I'm curled up in a ball on the floor, calling my therapist 😂😭

@@paultapping9510 lol...The first time I played was with my husband and I got Astarion to control because he had Shadowheart or Lae'zel already and I had no idea you could romance people in the game. I was playing an Oath of Justice pally though so he didn't like me too much and I just pretty much didn't romance anyone but kept him with me the entire time because I liked his play style so much and he was attractive. When we got to the ending of his story line though, I knew I had to actually try the romance the next time I played because the end of his quest line makes it obvious there could be more to him than just a whiny power obsessed asshole and I wasn't disappointed. In my opinion he has the best character growth in the game that I've seen thus far, but tbh idk how I could play through again and not have him there.

Me too, because me putting off long resting took Karlach from dying to bone me to telling me the spark was gone. I have no doubt I have missed out on sex in real life too from focusing too hard on killing monsters without breaks

But he still didn't reject me. Now I am in act 3, finished with Casador and had a lot of enjoy with his romance scene after it. I didn't even get spoilers with that scene from tiktok 😎

And if he goes through with the ritual... oof, probably 2nd or 3rd most evil character (after Rafael and Mizora, literal devils) in the game Okay, I can humor you and say he can turn CN through character development if you push him in that direction. If he gives up on the vampire ritual he ascends to CN And Cazador isn't CE, he is LE. Literally making deals with devils, strict tyrant to his spawn, all the jazz. And full vampires are always LE in DnD so that fits as well

I also love Fantasy settings like Skyrim, Lord of the Rings, and the Witcher, so the relation had me interested. I'd say watch videos on the game to see if you'd like it, then maybe get it and try it out and if you don't like it you can refund it

i played divinity before, but still feel like a newbie, because I play in a party with 3 veteran friends. ;D for me it's perfect, cuz I dont have to bother with game mechanics n stuff(we play in honor mode), but I can still enjoy the exploration part

Save-scumming is the way to go for anyone out there that truly wants to enjoy the game. You are not playing a Larian RPG to just "go with the flow of failures". There are already tons of "Souls games" out there for that kind of mindset.

Nope. Play big strong barbarian. Use intimidate on everyone. If you can't intimidate it, you kill it, and vice versa.

@@Mytheryio That's me and my partner too :) I'm finally learning it now that my partner has told me to use AOE spells to create a choke-hold. Makes it much easier to fight large groups.

It makes me senselessly happy seeing couples game together. My wife is a gamer and it gives me a great sense of joy getting to enjoy games like this with her. She's my Dead By Daylight hero!

As a Veteran player (came from DOS2 and have been playing CRPGs for years) I can assure you we're all impressed. Larian did a great job, and it shows. They've exceeded expectations even in their own genre.

4th playthrough now, got to moonrise and was just thinking to do that. Just want to obliterate those smug cultists before I meet Jaheira.

I was stuck there for hours a few weeks ago the doors were closed for me but halfway through the first mob the second mob opens the door I had to take down a huge army one of the hardest fights in the game for me I’m gonna have to see if there’s another way to do it on my next playthrough

Hey!!! Sorry but small little fun fact I wanted to add an a bit of a spoiler and a piece of advice! If you hadnt done that (assuming you did it BEFORE freeing the nightsong) and then proceeded to free the nightsong, when you arrive at moonrise towers, you will find Harper corpses littering the place. However, if you kill everyone in the tower AND THEN go to free the nightsong and come back to kill kethric, you dont find a single person dead :> Also you could use the command skill to pull npcs you wanna kill into a silence bubble and then kill them there. As long as its out of sight, you get away Scotch free! :D Best part is if someone walks into the room or area and enters the bubble, they cant call for reinforcements so you can kill them before they run away and cause you to fight a horde.

Works with any oversized weapon. IMO there are better weapons out there than the oversized ones.

After the scythe pushed my melee chars, I reloaded and used the disarm maneuver of my Battlemaster Fighter 😅 The fight was much easier then. So no waiting to pick up, simply disarm in fist turn and pick up after😂

@@farn1991 Battlemaster's weapon drop doesn't discriminate. There is a glove you can buy that gives disadvantage to enemies for those rolls.

I'm the kind of restarted who's like "I want to try a new character build," then I end up making the same build anyway because I hate that Astarion is the only ranged and dexterity build companion.

My friend started of as a RP player, got so upset when he broke his oath and restarted the run. He then played like what in his mind was the paladin way. Got the evolve tadpole part and failed every check and evolved. Didn't like the markings in his face, downloaded a mod to remove them. Got lost in modding, found builds on youtube, went from paladin to machinegun eldritch blaster, infinate ethels hair, complained about the game being too ez. sigh.

I fell quickly into 'I need to romance Gale' but also certain choices he didn't approve of and I just had to be like, shut up Gale, it's what my character would do.

This is how I'm playing currently Savescumming just to not get a bad outcome and be satisfied with the story at the end. My 2nd playtrough will be a 100% no reload run except someone is leaving the crew

I'm usually a roleplayer and an explorer, but on the first run... I will be a save summer because I just want to get a perfect run. And then see what happens in all the failure conditions and combinations of them.

they also have some crossover since at least certain types of save scummers just want to explore the options, there's plenty of responses in the game that are blatantly a bad idea, but too entertaining to resist, I don't think a run should turn from good path if you just wanna see if you'll actually punt a squirrel

Yes and no. Have you never savescum to FAIL a roll? I know I did. It was hard. My character had to good stats.

Sooo is it save scumming if you just keep forgetting to quicksave and having to restart hours of Progress 😂 guilty as charged.

Some people were afraid of a purple portal and never freed Gale. Only way to not accidentally romancing him.

I restarted as soon as i heard he ate magical items, avoided him like the plague after that. Same with the vampire i was like nope no bites in my sleep. But the hardest to avoid is probably either the one that you meet in the first few min of the tutorial or shadowheart. However now knowing i get enchanted everywhere that are useless ill let gale in my next run. My first play thru only had wyll and karlach with a wither fill in. oddly i still dont know what sould coins do for karlach as i was in a good guy play thru and i didnt think a good guy be doing that to someones heart that might explode.@@darknoob89 PS i romanced karlach and went with her to hell. SO NO PROXY not everyone.

I don't understand how my man how many times have you reset lol. My first playthrough I did every side quest I possibly could throughout the game and my final end time was 97 hrs.

​​​@@NamelessstewI've started over 10 playthroughs now and gotten to act 3 in 5 of them, actually completed the game in one, and started a new one only a week ago. I have deleted save files that spanned hours long just so I could redo a whole act because I didn't like the ending or I missed one side quest. For restarters, the joy is in the journey, not the conclusion. I don't want my experience to end, so I don't end it. I just start a new experience and switch back and forth occasionally. For a while I did want to die at the idea of being forced through Act 1 and 2 all over again for a new playthrough, but over time I grew to appreciate it so much for how much replayability it has.

​@Namelessstew I also want to point out with thw different choices and alignments, an action can change people opinion, it has long term consequences too so you get lots of different things just by that alone, if youre good try an evil playthru and you will see what i mean. It can open up different quests depending on who you talk to and how. I have lots of plays, active ones are around 7 I think, but I likely have around 20 play thrus and not all are complete. I also mod too so new encounters were added and my tav is assamar in my newest. I kinda hit all the types of players and then some 😅

I get teased by my friends because I have yet to complete Act 1. As a matter of fact, when i received the Steam "Year of 2023" it teased me for not completing Act 1, as well. 😆

Thats like, not possible? Im doing everything, exploring everything, at 82 hours and still in act 2 (though currently at releasing zavlor, so not much else to go) Byt ive heard act 3 is long. How would you do everything in just 90 something hours is beyond me ​@@Namelessstew

On my first playthrough I failed to save Isobel (talked to her while low on spellslots and stuff, thinking "ok I'll just have some conversations before long resting" lol) and barely made it through the entire fight, used pretty much everything I had hoarded up until that point. It was epic! :)

@@damned0wl I had my first inventory-clearing fight against Balthazar. Starting with putting my stock of explosives and grease bottles on the table in front of him and initiating the fight with a bombing. I finished the fight thanks to his brother enraging and keeping him stuck in a corner and my last character alive shooting arrows at his resurrected healer ghouls before hiding behind a pillar each turn 🤣 I used a lot of potions, antidotes, spell scrolls, grenades/vials and special arrows. I hope Lady Shar was pleased that I stopped him from desecrating her beautiful temple 😎

After that? Karlach run it is, cuz i want to save mommy minthara while I really cannot kill mommy Karlach. I CAN NOT DO THAT so i have to play as her i guess...

I got overwhelmed too at the start, and tbh I still feel overwhelmed sometimes. Still a lot of fun tbh

I feel like the best way to play a game like this for beginners (or what I’m doing at least) is to just focus on quests. That way, you won’t be overwhelmed right away and you just have one objective. Then, once you’ve played for a few hours, any time you have a question of “hey I wonder if I can do this thing” or “I wonder what’s over in this area” then go ahead and give it a try and see what works and what secrets you can discover. Don’t get too caught up in learning the deep mechanics of combat or how to best min/max your character. Leave that to the RU-vidrs lol.

well at the beginning the interactions and romance encounters were pretty much but till end of act 2 nothing happend anymore sadly. So the dating things are not so intense as I hoped to be.

It's really simple, really. We play it as an RPG, not an adult RPG.

i mean...there is a lot of plot and story to be had between scenes, so you'll be a lot more disappointed if all you wanted was smut. If you want action early, just focus on astarion. If you want something more, enjoy the adventure and the slow burn of some of the other characters. A dating sim is just shallow teenage story with a bunch of guys and the romance is the game and plot, this feels better to me, particularly since you can just avoid romance altogether if you like. I feel like the romance is a big part of the story and so I indulge in it (after all, it's more content) but it don't need to be a dating sim to have fun XD

I find it every time I roll a charisma based character, I cannot Help but to grab at least 2 Levels of Warlock. That Eldridge blast just can't be beat when it comes to Dealing damage as a charisma character. However this play through I Am currently doing the adjuration wizard Tank one level of Fighter 1 level of warlock all the rest into wizard. And I gotta say it's living up to it reputation. My character has only died thanks to a long string of non-stop debus being slammed on to him to a point where I couldn't control him anymore Afterwards he was quite literally dogpiled by wolves In the gift Yankee crash

Typically with games, I tend to only play them once through because (and this is the same with like movies and shows too) it becomes a little boring going through it again when I already know what the story is and what’s going to happen. That leads me to try to do EVERY single thing I can the first time so I can experience everything once and call it a day. The trouble with this game - and it’s something that might actually make me interested in playing a second time - is that there’s just SO MUCH stuff to do and it affects the game DRASTICALLY. So who knows…

I started my first playthrough and scrapped it when I hit act 3 because I learned that I basically abandoned/killed most of the companions. I never met Astarion or Karlach or Wyll in Act 1 and Halsin died while I was clearing the goblin camp. I managed to stick with it for all of Act 2 and part of Act 3. Decided to look at some BG3 content and realized how much I have actually missed. I should have ignored this stuff. I used to be obsessed with NVs and choice-based RPGs and this game has scratched an insane itch that I have had for years.

@@thegreatestfallout1794 whoops 😅 I’m still on my first playthrough and it took me a long time to find wyll and karlach as well. Unfortunately I got locked out of karlach’s romance which sucks v.v I actually think the romance in this game is probably the worst aspect of it though to be fair.

I tried to, but Lae'zel and Astarion told me to grow a backbone and not try to fix all the world's problems without even a benefit to my own self or my companions. I don't really care about my looks as long as I look serious enough to be taken seriously. My Death knight can wear whatever armor as long as I can look at him and say "yeah that's a badass death knight" So I'll usually just take the higher stat one

they already have a mod for that and i use it myself. originally it was to change out the look of that adamantine splint armor because it sadly has a visual bug at the area above the boots and it really bothered me. hopefully they fix that. as for changing the appearance of armor and calling it inappropriate, i dont see how you could say that. armor historically isnt some pair of shoes at payless that you just try on and then buy if it works for you. its always been something VERY specially designed and tailored for each inidividual. its part of the reason you mostly only ever saw nobles rock plate armor as its partly very expensive for that very reason. and then afterwards if they have the money for it, will customize its appearance and style to suit their fashion, taste, or to represent their family/house. to say that a devotion paladin of tyr would just roll with rocking some devil-looking plate without modifying and changing it up themeselves is what would truly be completely innappropriate. Ultimately, regardless of whatever side of this arguement a persons on, its a video game. games are supposed to be fun. and these characters are what youre going to be staring at 99% of your experience in it. if changing their aesthetics to suit your visual preferance positively impacts your experience, then there's nothing wrong here. when i transmog swaped out my admantine splint armor look for just simple plate armor for my paladin, i was perfectly happy with that as it looks far better and more appropriate for her theme i want to go with on her than that buggy piece with floating boots...

Literally just redone a playthrough today. Got to Act 3, 5 hours in, going a new build 😂😂

Same, but I get to have the fun of trying to take my 3.5 knowledge of D&D and bring it not just to 5E but also into the logic of a video game.

might as well just play any caster if you're using way of the 4 elements. way of open hand gets upgraded flurry of blows. i'm playing as golden dragonborn tavern brawler monk using way of the open hand, with first level in fighter for the armor/shield proficiency and fighting style (defense), and 3 levels in rogue thief for that extra bonus action for 2 flurry of blows per turn. so 1 fighter/8 monk/3 rogue.

Used turn undead with Shadowheart, the fight to hold of enemies for Halsin got a lot easier after that

@@orbitronsorbitrons anyone can be a cleric. a cleric with blood of lathander absolutely does not trivialize every act 2 fight. enemies don't group up enough to use sunbeam, and some fights have you so outnumbered that one cleric alone can't keep up with the healing.

The fight to protect Halsin would have been great if I weren’t playing a necromancer and so had just about every bloody Harper in the Moonlight Inn wander into the darkness to die saying ‘shoo!’ To the ghouls I’d raised for the fight

Awesome to hear! It’s really an amazing game. Cool to see you’re enjoying it. My first play through was as Druid I’d recommend bard a lot they have the most interesting dialogue options, and will easily talk their way through annoying dice rolls.

@@ProxyGateTactician How do they fight though? I tried playing as a cleric but was so underwhelming that I kept dying in the Ancient Ruins! My first attempt was as a Rogue and died on the ship hahahaha. I find the Druid to be a good all-rounder.xxx

@@sharonbunn2363 if you go a swords bard they’re really good at using crossbows. Which sounds weird but it works. Other bard types are great support (you get an extra short rest even)
