I do prefer BG3 story wise, always thought DoS2's story was really boring and uninteresting. But I'm sure you can surprise us with original content! You've been doing amazingin BG3!
"I didn't kill them officer I just swung my blade and they were in the way they could have moved" I'm surprised you got as far as you did without stretching the rules, you really only had to for orin and the other is to end the game, that's crazy. Enver Gortash got Mr. Bean'd
Well, the God King's whole schtick is resurrecting his faithful followers, that's why some of them joined him, so I don't find it surprising some of the killed bosses have to be fought again in the final fight
@@ProxyGateTactician Opportunism, I think. Braccus gets resurrected by Dalis, Tarquin and Lucian, and he wants to break free from their control. The God King and Braccus probably saw it as beneficial to ally with one another. The God King to defeat Lucian. Braccus to regain his autonomy and regain his powers
A DoS2 video in this day and age? Well, color me surprised! I love this! Re: Vredeman being Braccus Rex though, it really wasn't that big of a "surprise". His lore was scattered and always mentioned all around Fort Joy area (the purging wands, undead priestess at Amadia's sanctuary, the different points of interest, soul jar visions, and Withermoore's story to name a few). And then, there's Tarquin's job of reviving Braccus Rex, the logs in Dallis's diary, and Vredeman unleashing Meteor Shower turn 1 which is a nice callback to DoS1's Braccus Rex unleashing Meteor turn 1 as well. Some magisters (I forgot where) have also pointed out that Dallis began to change for the worse ever since Vredeman became her advisor, although it's unclear if it's because Fane's Daughter replaced the real Dallis or if it was Braccus's influence. Still, it was made a point that Braccus Rex is just THAT manipulative, devious, and sinister that I wouldn't put it past him to be the one pulling all the strings all along as to how Dallis was always one step ahead of you. It all comes to a head when you're doing the Anathema questline, at the end of which Tarquin reveals that it's for killing the Source King himself (which is something that we saw coming at that point). As for Vredeman choosing to "let loose" at that exact point in time, this doesn't have an in-lore explanation but my theory is he was only pretending to be controlled so he can get as close to Lucian's Tomb as possible. His plan of using Bishop Alexander to get close to godhood under the guise of "training" him was a bust after all. He was probably hoping for the 2 sides to face-off at the end so he can sieze all the source for himself. However, as the last part of his plans didn't seem to be going his way, he had no choice to but finally reveal his power in a last attempt to regaining his former glory. I don't know if you played DoS1, but as someone who did, it was a treat learning more and more about Braccus Rex and finally getting the chance to fight him at his "full power" (only once though. Going through all the sworn and the Kraken ain't as fun the 2nd time beyond) because the fight in 1 didn't really do him justice. The one thing that's still a headscratcher to me though is how he's connected to the God King. I didn't peg him to be the type to be sworn, after all, and I don't quite remember if there was any mention of him being sword.
I hadn't played DOS1 so it's interesting the stuff I missed about him. Most of the commenters who mention it was hinting at him had played DOS1 from what I'm seeing now. As someone who started on that game it felt pretty lame that he was this random guy who suddenly broke slavery to be a boss. I still love the game's combat, side quests, and characters, but that last boss was always weird to me. Never knew why the god king was with Braccus, and I'm pretty sure even if you're still allied with the god king you still fight those guys don't you?
When my roommate and I did the Gondian/Deep Gnome quest. When we got to the underwater prison he didn’t know you could shot the switches with arrow which made things easier to rescue them. But yeah not much of a reward really, even if you settle things between the Deep Gnomes and Gondians to have them both ally with you.
Yeah they went for a more whimsical and silly style for sure with the story. I still love the game though. It has in my opinion a better combat system than BG3, but the story, and character writing lagged behind
Never forgetting being blasted down by Bishop Alexander's healing magic before ascending as Fane even though I was disguised.. Hope they patched that out because it ended my run
Almost 400 hours on DOS 2, and i never once seen Dallis turn into a Freaking Dragon... I gues I'll have to play it again... As soon as I finish my new run on BG3 of course
I feel like you shittalked dos2 instead of appreciating the story, Bracchus or w/e was talked about as an evil lord all game and you explore his ruined castle in act 1. The story beats are good, for the time they came out in. Try Atomic Heart for a shit story. Dos2 was a great game.
I love the combat in dos2, the side quests, the gear you can find and the characters. But the story itself was always the weakest part for me. The combat is much better than even BG3’s still imo And honestly the story ain’t even that bad other than act 3, and the final boss. So I don’t mean to be negative just the last boss of the game is meaningless to people who didnt play dos 1
The game is meant to be silly and whimsical and make no sense is how I always felt. Braccus is talked about a lot during act 1, and a bit by Tarquin, but he felt like a character who didn’t belong as the boss. (Probably because I didn’t play dos1)
Your vids are super fun for someone who’s new to RPGs! I’m in act 3 of BG3 rn and your vids are helping me build interest in other play throughs there and in other games like DOS2. Keep it up!
I know this video was made probably for people who are less aware of divinity mechanics but, as someone who has really gotten into the game, if you could have included some details about the build you were using in the video that would’ve been much appreciated.
man, I picked up DOSII recently and I'm waiting to get the time to start a game, so I can't watch this video yet 'cause spoilers :c I'll be sure to come back when I've finished at least one playthrough
One thing I always love about Larian's games is that regardless how many hours I have, I will always learn something new about them. I didn't know about the hidden passage to the source temple and that Dallis turns into a dragon if you force her out by defeating her in act 1-2, or Malady's snark for unhooded undead. Almost 900 hours of that game, it got me to get instantly into BG3 early access when they announced it :)
I was a huge fan of DOS2 Path of Purity run. I decided to do a DOS2 solo Path of Purity run, its seriously one of the most challenging and confusing run ever. Every single encounter is a pure puzzle how "How the hell I do that" or "Why is the Magister has a secret alliance with the Undead of the Swamp? Aren't they supposed to kill each other?" I don't know if that concept of Path of Purity could be enough entertaining/doable in bg3 without being a "Persuasion run" which is mostly not interesting to watch.
I kind of wanted to do one, but wasn’t sure how people get past the golem at the very end of act 3. I didn’t look anything up though. I guess using summons? But I think that’s kinda lame if that’s the only way.
What I love is how Zaleskar says he's proud of his heritage because he wears an open-faced helmet. But in the game's coding ANY headwear conceals your identity as an undead, even a hat that doesn't even cover the top of your skull, let alone your face. So by the rules of the world, if a thin piece of cloth on your head is enough to make people forget undead are a thing, then they helped Zaleskar not knowing he was undead, because they're idiots. Not his fault the sanctuary can't see through his open-faced helmet.
Why does this make me think of videos where a guy is imitating a woman by putting a towel across his head to look like long hair 😂 Everyone is just dumb AF and just accepts “someone wearing a hat couldn’t possibly be not alive - because why would undead wear hats”
The reactivity kinda dropped off sadly as the game went on. There was basically no more in act 4 :( Act 1 had a fair bit so there was a lot to talk about but as I went on there was less and less
