Hole just above of 6 O clock position is for time keeping gear train, hole by the side of 4 O clock position is for quarter hour musical sequence gear train and hole by the side of 8 O clock position is for hour strike gear train. Such clocks have 4 to 12 bells or gongs for quarter hour sequence and one gong for hour strike as single note or 2 or 3 bells or gongs of different sizes for striking the hours as chord strokes.
