Hey James . Thanks for the video , I’ve been getting into Shelly and home assistant slowly slowly , I’m loving It so far , I was wondering , can I use a Shelly 1 with a video door bell that’s not smart ?. My house has a dumb video door bell kind of intercom , I’d love to get Alexa to tell me that someone is at the door … was wondering if I could achieve that with this Shelly .. I buy them from Shelly via their website, there is not a large markup on the shelly products, the only reason someone might get them locally is if they wanted them quickly, other wise the shelly web site has really good pricing.

Hi .. been enjoying your videos.. Is there a smart switch that can work without a neutral? None of my wall switches have a neutral and would like to know how I ca make them not dumb. I've seen Sonoff's T4EU1C but don't know if they'll work in australia.

Shane Jenkinson According to the live stream Shelly did about a month ago they are going to make/release the Shelly 1 as a 2 wire switch soon, so no neutral required.

Hi James, Came across your videos, you are in Aus and wondered if you have a video with a shelly 1 with 2 way switches? I keep finding US videos, but i think their 2 way and colours for wires are very confusing to relate to Aus

Great vid... So the shelly 1 can be used with a normal light switch and the shelly dimmer needs a momentary?

Yep, that is correct, you could use a normal switch on the Shelly dimmer but it wouldn’t be that great to dim up and down with.

Yes, you can. There are different modes one the switch position sets the relay state the other changing the switch changes the relay state.

Love Shelly relays, especially compared to those lighting brands charge you '000 for a "starter kit" smart switch/bulb!　 Shelly 2.5 is good value for money too. But on the website it ways it requires a licensed electrician to install them. Although I don't mind giving a try myself, but getting an electrician license is too involved.

Use it to monitor the power. The machine will use x amount of watts when it’s running then 0 watts when it stops.

I’ve seen people use it for that, the only problem is that the pump is inductive so the small relay probably wouldn’t last long if it turned on and off each day.

Yes, it can, and I have used it like that, I wouldn’t recommend planning to setup a whole house like that thought

@@SparkyJames what would you use? Have smart LED down lights installed. Need something to replace switchs so thry don't need to be always on. As guests etc turn off then is no on with manual on and Wi-Fi reloading.

I would swap smart lights for ordinary lights and use a shelly dimmer, and if you want Color install a ws2811 strip light and use WLED, under a shelf or bench if you want. If you do want to keep the smart down lights, the Shelly 1 is the best bet for getting a switch that operates them, like you want.
