I love it when you show your outfits around the city in the natural light. It makes the outfit seem more natural with the colorful backdrop of our environment. Seeing outfits in a sterile room may focus the attention on the clothes but that is not where we wear clothes. It’s important to see how we blend with our surroundings. Great job! 💕🫶🏻👍🏼
You’re actually wearing “pedal pushers” here, they end just below the knee, Capri pants/“clam diggers” end at mid-calf. But the styling is essentially the same for both. Of the two, I think the shorter, pedal-pusher length is better. The leg is slimmer just below the knee than at mid-calf!, it’s a better place to stop. These shorter pants are new to young women, so they look fresh to them, if not to us mature women who had to endure them before!
For some reason, capris, clam diggers and other cut off pant legs look good on me. I get compliments when I wear them. Don’t know why though I’ve danced for years and my legs are my favourite feature😊
Yes that’s right. I thought the trend was going to be Bermuda shorts actually. (They are the long shorts, knee length and wide leg for those who aren’t familiar with them). I saw them mentioned in a fashion trends video. None of the above for me anyway. 😂
Endure them? I've lived without any of these styles. There is so much more out there that can be stylish. Looking good on someone else and hoping for same results is crazy.
No no no to capri pants, quilted handbags, and mesh shoes. I’m 50 and there’s no way I’m wearing a skirt as an extra layer. I want as few layers as possible 🥵
@@NHSborn I didn’t have hot flashes at 40. I don’t want extra layers of fabric on me for fashion. Nope. Not wearing an apron or extra skirt that looks dumb anyway.
@@ErinCRN I am slim, 75, hip NYer, & would enjoy the freshness of the double layer skirt! HOWEVER - the thiness of the white fabric over Elena's lovely column skirt struck me as a bit off. . .This idea is newish (& ancient - look at how many cultures had huge, layered skirts over time) & will evolve to things even more intriguing. Beautifully thought out & explained, EH. Keep it up!
@@judithholder2537 you go for it, gal! I bet you can rock it. It’s just not my style to begin with. I’m not one to go crazy for trends like this. Currently I’m loving the Samba trend, wide leg jeans and the preppy aesthetic. I’ve been having fun buying vintage Ralph Lauren pieces. Being 50, and having intermittent hot flashes, I’m dressing in layers that are easy to remove. I don’t want an extra layer over my body, plus my legs are fantastic and I prefer to have them free and on display!
It’s a no from me to capri pants. They cut your legs at the widest point very unflattering. Mesh shoes? Absolutely not! Like hospital shoes. Quilted bags are Ugly. Like my mother’s wash bag. Three times no from me.
I love looking at your new filming technique within Lisbon or wherever in Spain. I have learned so much from your channel and wish to thank you for this. I find your style very “reasonable” for those of us who don’t work, leave the house to grocery shop or for appointments. Your style isn’t “too over the top” which I find many RU-vid channels are. Your clothes style costs are reasonable, have various price points, and just intelligently put together. Thank you for all your hard work.
This year trends remind me of my late teens clothes: capris, skirts as layers, white maxiskirts... I used to wear them so I'm worried about feeling juvenile if I wear them again. I loved the Lisbon backdrop so I will be happy to discover more little secrets of the city with you!!
@@lilithowlGuessing how someone you don't know may feel in a situation is not the best idea, esp if the person already stated how they expect they may feel. They may be a different person than the last time those trends were around and other people may see them as someone totally new and on trend, but they still may not feel comfortable in that style, remembering they've worn such clothes in much different circumstances. Also, they may know other people may subconsciously judge them for dressing "too youthful" or just get a wrong idea about their actual age (it happened to me a lot when I used to wear jeans with more casual tops, with my long hair down and me being very short, I was often treated as a teenager when even my own kids could have been in their thirties... and in many circumstances that is NOT fun
04/25/24 from Colorado. Love the Apron over a skirt! In 1950s I was in grade school (born in 1949) and my mother wore wrap skirt open in front in black taffeta over black skinny pants called ‘cigarette pants’ plus a tight fitting top with 3/4 sleeves, high heels. She was stunning! I remember this. I am Age 75 next week. But the apron is dramatic layering and ‘tres chic!’ I do sew some and may try a sheer fabric skirt over a skirt or pants. For me, I prefer long pants only at this age. My legs are scarred from surgery and I broke both lower legs and ankles in 2017 (left leg) and 2021 (right leg). I was told in 2021 I would not walk. I replied ‘Watch me!’ I do walk with a cane but I’m walking. The Lisbon building walls are beautiful colors! I have been watching you a few weeks and going back to educate myself better on color combinations. Thank you for your wonderful ideas to update my wardrobe! Stalwart
Oh, your Mother had her fashionista going on. I remember Lucille Ball wearing cigarette pants and a skirt over them. It has to be done just or it will look funny.
I learned a lot from your different videos. It’s fun to watch you playing around different colors and how you make it look so simple. But for me I still need to learn a lot more on how to use different colors and how to make it work. One of this day I get it. Thanks for sharing your talent. I really appreciate you.!!!
Fashion should be fun, experimentative, and should be a reflection of our personality and who we are at the core. The apron over the skirt is an interesting interpretation of layering, not for me but I would admire the bold step on someone else. I’ve never owned capris and I’m 58 and I never ever will. Most people wear them at the wrong length, most often cutting the leg at the widest part of the calf. I predict these will be a trend that leaves as fast the biker short did a few years ago 😂
Love your daring and playful style. I learn so much when I watch your channel. You GO and I will try to catch up with capri layers and let my wild animal loose
This is a very interesting skirt and apron...the waistband add some vibrant color and that apron.. Wow!! What a versatile addition to summer wardrobe. Just live it❤❤
I enjoyed this video and the background was lovely. The fun handbags and leopard prints are the trends I would wear personally. I especially loved that fun bag with the white skirt.
The way you styled the capri pants was beautiful! Most people in the US hate capri pants because they style it wrong, it’s usually worn by older, overweight women with long tunic tops and flip flops in Florida lol so I understand why many people in the US hate it, however, due to it being cropped, it is perfect for people like me who have with long legs and short torso, I tend to look disproportionate so I need to shorten my legs and the capri and ankle length pants does help my legs appear shorter so I look more proportionate with my short torso. With age, my spine compressed which is how I now have a short torso. I love leopard ballet flats! I also have a leopard print clutch that I use when I dress in monochromatic outfits to add some sass lol
Outfit #2 was a definite no for multiple reasons. The black and white straw bag gorgeous! Hate the mesh ballet flats but nice to see you and I love your accent! 😊
Fabulous looks. Love the layered t-shirt idea. I am learning so much from you. I'm also relieved by the variety of silhouettes and your colour combos - such a welcome change from most stylists rn on YT. Brava!
Overskirt reminds me of "butcher's apron": as a trend I think it will come & go. I love the other trends, they are easy to replicate. I notice (& love) how you choose a beautiful coloured wall behind each look! Great firmat, love your channel. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Hello Elena! What a pleasure to see your videos, your teachings on color combinations have taken my outfits to another level, in addition to enhancing the use of my wardrobe. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to the next 100 looks! P.S: Now many other stylists I followed seem boring compared to your work 😂😂
The apron should be a thicker fabric, like you showed on the pictures. I don’t like how the linen wrinkles and the skirt underneath doesn’t. This combination is a no for me, but the previous ones I like. Diana Milkanova really pulled it off ❤ And the next outfit with the black skirt was very harmonious because of the matching fabrics and patterns.
I was skeptical about the layered skirt look but actually really liked the way you styled it. I’m also 50 and not as svelte as I once was after 5 kids. Maxi skirts tend to make me look like a troll! I’ll die before I wear capri pants again. No way! But you made it all look amazing!
I'm going to sew long trousers and a skirt using the same very thin material. And wear the skirt as a top layer. I mean I've been planning to do it for the last couple of years:-)
Loved this video!!! 1. Loved "apron skirt's ideas. Reminded me of some of the newer wide leg pits with apron panels sewn into the side seams that can be tied in front or back. This might be interesting with side panels color blocked with contrasting fabric or lace. I liked your lace column apron because it achieved the effect in combination with clothes we already have and can be used separately as a beach coverup. 2. Loved your 100-days challenge videos on Instagram. Great format. Suggestion for new Instagram format is to show a fine art inspiration like you did with Kandinski in this video. I can already think of ideas for an outfit inspired by Paul Klein with a heavy burlap inspired texture, gold neutrals with orange, turquoise and olive accents . I like the fun of a challenging starting point to solve more than feeling lost with no starting point. 3. Thanks for pointing out how cliche red looks with animal print. You are right; the burgundy/white looks much fresher. I loved the black and white purse with the leopard ballet flats because the bag reminded me of African tribal art. I would have added faux tortoise shell glasses. A pale blue blouse may have given the outfit a Coastal African feel.
Thanks! Even though double t-shirts look great. Not all of can wear them. The weather in my city, already is over 36°C and we haven't reach summer yet. ❤🎉
Your latest videos with the gorgeous backgrounds and intriguing outfits win my vote for Best Styling Videos. Trends are sometimes looks that wouldn't work for me, but seeing your interpretation always helps stretch my imagination. Thank you!
I love ur take on trends ❤ my favourites are: leopard, quilted bags, and white maxis .. definitely skipping capri pants .. I would like to re-try the apron skirts; I had a pair of pants with a fixed skirt as a teen 😃 I am on the hunt of a good pair of mesh Mary Janes ..
Those mesh ballet flats remind d me of my pool shoes. I wonder if I should wear them as regular shoes?? Mine are navy blue. You've given me an idea...I got mine at Academy Sports store for under $10.😉
By reading the comments I see I am not alone in my impressions , your vids are 10 out if 10 . color is just a medicine on its own and your sense of style coupled with your amazing color intelligence is really great .
Your flare for design and color combinations inspire me. I like the video changes and I like the idea of a second skirt. My only thought would have been a different color for the top layer. I’d love to see that combo again. 🌸
Very fun video. I like the new format! I think skirt as second layer works if your proportions permit it- the double skirt looks presented are not for me. I think the strings of the apron skirt look messy and distracting, especially with the horizontal stripes of the Cos skirt, and the linen of the apron skirt seems too lightweight in comparison. I had mesh flats in the 80s- they wear out quickly, but they're a lot of fun :)
Elena I seen the skirt with apron on insta, I don’t hate but visually I don’t like the apron texture. Looks thin and wrinkly, with a different texture it would great in my opinion.
I don't wear trousers, but I do wear skirts or dresses over my long tights during winter. So, it's not such a strange concept. So , I loved your combo. The colour's were nice, but I don't fancy them mesh shoes. Another interesting video. Loved the first outfit because of the blue bag; such a POP of color 🎉😅
I don't know about anyone else but honestly I would wear all those outfits especially the Capri pants I have a few in my closet so I will start wearing them.. and I'm 599999999 and enjoy trying different things at this point who cares what people think!!!
Love the transition in the middle! And I love the side apron on you...on me, no, I think I'm to hippy to wear 2 layers around my waist/hips but I'm willing to try next time I'm in Mango...
Hi Ellena ! Just discovered you and i love all of your videos ! Byt also i love that you also style your background with the colors you're wearing!!!❤😍🤌
I love capris with sandals. I do not care for mesh shoes. They get dirty so easily and don't last long. Very few outfits look good with a double skirt.
Really enjoyed the new location view, so beautiful! Also liked the combination outfit with the apron. Fashion styling has limits (for me) when it comes to practicality. I like how it looks, but don't want to spend too much time putting it together. Might be why it got negative reviews. Thanks you such valuable Fashion advice ❤🎉.
I'm so impressed with your channel Ellena Hue, you have the best outfit ideas, bar none! The problem with the sheer white linen apron overskirt, I feel sure it's why so many viewers don't like it, is that the linen is a much lower Level of Refinement than the underskirt, top or shoes. So, the elements of the look feel disconnected. As I see it, the linen apron is very beachy and needs similar beachy companion pieces - the rougher and more artisanal, the better. Another thing, closed-toe shoes tend to kill the beachy look, when peeking out from under a narrow ankle-length skirt; long beach skirts, whether single or double, tend to be easier to style with sandals. But, replace the overskirt with one made of a more refined fabric, and I think the outfit you showed could be very appealing. Thanks for putting your versions of these looks together!
Hi Gorgeous Ellena❤🎉 Nice ideas I don't know much But summer is for less clothing..isn't it? If one layers won't it be hot Outdoors? For indoors i agree Superb Else...it will mk us Sweat😊 Thanks Ellena I after adding your subscription have deleted so many others You are so good... Ideas by you i love😊❤
I think the apron layer is fun, but I'd like to try it in a sheer, gossamer metallic instead of white (which seems a bit clinical or culinary, in my opinion.) My favorite outfit suggestion is the column skirt paired with a loose tee - I'm going to try that! I love your new format - you select beautiful settings that perfectly complement your outfits. I'm slowly learning to step outside the box of my terrible Pacific NW "uniform" of outdated denim, basic tee, fleece jacket and ugly shoes. Thank you, Ellena!🧡
