Meh he was being a freak back then but if i had to chose my favorite that he was dressed as i would choose his 1997 (i think) christmas tree attire cuz its a tiny bit cute to be a christmas tree :3
The Artist Formerly Known As Golddust was an obvious rip on Price becoming the Artist Formerly Known As Prince. Stupid costume designs for Dustin though.
It was the 90s Dustin hit it over the park his outfit was perfect for that time I don't see what wrong with it in the 90s everything was going on the age of ATTITUDE ERA
It's a cool look. Unique, but without being over-the-top crazy. Right after Ryder, the presenter suggests that appreciation of Shawn Michaels' exceptionally goofy mini-mirror outfit was subjective....
I think Zack Ryder actually had a nice attire, it's creative and different from what we were used to plus the colors he used would mostly fit well together
@@rlanger3108 I don’t think it’s meant to be something like The Rock taking off his elbow pad or Adam Cole removing his knee pad, but to just point out the significance.
"find any cheap rubbish you can, put it together anyway you want & make sure there's a bit of thigh showing" whilst an advertisment for cultaholic shop hits the screen lol.
I thought Brutus's male stripper look kinda worked with him, rather he made it work. It was classic. There is a revisionist history about him and people forget that he was over.
It was perfect. His character before being The Barber was that of a male stripper, so when he became a maniacal barber (probably a Sweeney Todd inspired idea), it was the perfect evolution for him.
Revision no just previously unheard opinions he was probably over with America the rest of us just thought you f****** weird dude like most of that 80s crap lol Roddy Piper Jake The Snake and big boss man where abouts the only American wrestlers I knew before the Undertaker Yokozuna Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels made North American wrestlers the household names. Before that it was more local ones French Irish British basically it took the Undertaker to make Americans relevant outside of America Hulk Hogan is a boring shower of s*** and Macho Man did too much cocaine lol.
"[Dusty Rhodes's] popularity not coming from having a handsome face, or a hulking physique." I mean... yeah, he didn't look like the athlete of the day was supposed to look, but he was bad, and we knew he was bad.
Max Moon? Nah.. the Gyrator can't be on this list, because Connan stole his boots when he quit WWF. Not even Chilly McFreeze and Mason the Mutilator went that far. If you don't know, what all those references are, look up OSW 😉
Brutus looked sexy to me, and wore the mask as protection after coming back from a parisaling accident that crushed the bones in his face and was reconstructed with metal plates
Now I'm envisioning Vader as Mantaur running over everybody and trying his best to make a mooing sound menacing. He probably would have altered the more ridiculous aspects of the costume, too.
There's a video where HBK and the seamstress at the time discuss that HBK let the lady do whatever she wanted to do with the attires. Shawn gave her complete control and it worked and she appreciated it too
We are still talking about Bastion Booger and it was, what 25 years ago? I remember watching him as a little kid. Awful ring gear? Maybe, but has stuck with me for 25 years. His punishment ended up being a blessing.
Everyone: so Shawn you’re tights aren’t finished you gonna use something else from the past? Shawn Michael: no I like the color and I got this new cowboys!
Ryder's look was interesting, though I have to wonder if it was meant to mirror Hawkins, as they were not far off from their days as the Edgeheads. I've always wondered what the deal was with Shawn's vest. he looks less like Joker in 2019 and more like Psycho Clown.
I really think if Dustin Rhodes was in the right head space and it good shape at the time i really think the Black Reign gimmick could have been pretty great and work it liked cool
Adam talks about wrestlers who have a "so-so" look and the editor uses CESARO??? Built-out-of-granite Big Dick Tony definitely does NOT have a so-so look.
Mantaur still wrestles! He's in Impact Wrestling & is apart of a group named Decay with Crazy Steve & Rosemary! He's actually looking better now than he ever did!
10:27 The singlet Ultimate Warrior wore for the _SummerSlam Spectacular_ special when teaming up with Macho Man vs. The Nasty Boys presaged Giant Gonzalez's bodysuit. The only reason I even remembered it is WWE's _Self-Destruction of the UW_ DVD drawing attention to it.
1. Also Montoya. Particularly, that jock strap mask he wore. 2. Undertaker's golden tiger print pants. I understand he had to borrow them from fellow Bone Street member The Godfather but still.
I'm surprised Aldo Montoya the Portuguese Man-o-War isn't on this list as far as worst ring attire goes. His whole ring attire was atrocious the jockstrap mask was terrible
I feel like both Dusty and Dustin shouldn't be on the list. As silly as Dusty's polkadots were, he did manage to make them work. And as for Dustin, I feel like the bad attire was part of the gimmick so shouldn't count as a genuine bad outfit.
The only defense I can give for Giant Gonzalez is that for a man of his size it CAN be difficult to have decent amount of charisma and what not, also in the era he wrestled (as just about every wrestling fan knows) you just didn't find guys his size so WWE only signed him because of the size alone.
When I first saw the TAFKA Goldust costume at 9:10 (it may have been a similar one) in a late-1998 Expert Gamer magazine at the end of their back-to-back articles for WCW/nWo Revenge and WWF War Zone; I thought that Dustin was actually trying to shoot on Wolfpac Sting...
Nice swerve. You almost lost me with the shawn michaels trunks. Because those were some of my all time favorites. The black with the red and silver hearts with his dirt bike boots that looked like sneakers. But i completely forgot about the brown with cowboy boots. Good one.
Zack Ryder wasn't the only one with that look. When WWE gave a tryout to former WCW tag team the Fantastics in 99- 2001 they faced each other. One of them wrestled with long trunks the same way which was missing a pant leg.
Funny how the half tights look terrible on Zack Ryder but perfect on Ruby Riott - the fact that her whole look has a chaotic asymmetrical theme to go with it as if, unlike Zack, she actually put thought into the decision to wear them probably helps.
I hope we get short haired 1999 double J in the new wrestling game. And in my opinion Chris Benoit Chris jericho (like 2004-2005ish) And rey mysterio always have the best gear
I actually liked both of those attires in the thumbnail. Zack Ryder’s was so different it worked. And TAFKA Goldust’s was so ridiculous, it fit the character. Which I appreciated. It “fit the character” for the time.
How can you forget Big Vito? I would also argue that Demolition's bdsm gear was pretty horrendous. Also, who can forget the time William Regal wrestled in what looked like a plus sized women's bathing suit.
Surprised Kane's 2011 return attire didn't make it. He went from looking badass with the inverted attire, the 2001 singlet and more iconic looks.... to this - what was basically a weird bacon mask and Christmas tree lights. It was a bad Halloween costume at best.
