I started my intermittent fasting and quit drinking alcohol at the same time and lost 30 pounds in around a month. And I wasn't very overweight to begin with. The combination of those things just happened to be the most positive thing for my health I've ever done

I've been on IF for nearly a year. Dropped from 108 kgs to 81, look and feel 10 years younger (I'm 41), and super motivated to exercise. Still a few kilos to go, but this technique really does work - though you need to understand the science behind it. The process is quite unforgiving to slacking off, and while cheat days do happen, you gotta pick up and start from a plateau all over again. I do drink and binge occasionally, but find it isn't as enjoyable as before. Overall, it is a lifestyle that works, especially for those who have very active social and work lives. Just start by skipping 1 meal a day, consistently, for a month. The results will motivate you.

I first heard about life extending via calorie restriction back in the early 90's in a college course that referenced the"starvation diet". Then, when I heard about intermittent fasting about 14 years ago providing similar health benefits, I tried eating one meal a day for 4 years. I read that it didn't seem to convey the same level of health benefits that a 24-32 hour fast window gave, so switched to the 5-2 diet. I did that for a couple years and actually liked it, I would treat my fast days like little ritual spa days. However, I stopped cause I was gaining weight on it and becoming skinny fat. Now, I think it was just my middle aged body doing it's thing regardless of diet. I've wanted to restart 5-2 again, just lack the will power at the moment

I've also been intermittent fasting for over 10 years and had issues with digestion in the beginning. For anyone new to this, strengthen your gut! Take probiotics, digestive enzymes and fish oil with your meal and your gut will assimilate all those nutrients making recovery and muscle building faster. Also, it will fix lactose intolerance if you have it, yay for ice cream!

I do IF and I’ve had to go last Feb vegan cause since I found out I was allergic to meat. I was always allergic to fish and dairy. I have an eye disease and I’ve been on steroid medication over 15 years to treat it. Im seven stone lighter. I found out about fasting two years ago and recently figured out I’m better on a six hour window and even vegan bread is worse than alcohol on my body. Your advice is great it’s nice to see a video of someone who has experience.

As a teen I fasted (24 hours) two days a week. In my twenties I began Intermittent fasting. (Back then I was not aware of a name for it). I knew via evolution humans were not meant to eat constantly let alone three meals a day. I fast for 16 hours and then I have 8 hours to eat. My first meal is always a whey protein shake (mine has branch chain amino acids in it). During my 8 hours of "eat time" I eat as much FRESH fruit / FRESH vegetables as I want. Sometimes I will have seafood. Never red meat. Rarely chicken or thick pork chops. I feel FANTASTIC and it is so easy to follow this way of living. I drink strong German coffee all day as well as water. I look and feel much younger than my friends. I have never drunk alcohol, smoked or used drugs. I am square and it is my choice. Thanks for posting. Be well. 😄😄😁😁😊😊 I have had no negative effects; I never feel hungry. I believe this has a lot to do with mind over matter. Once you have a schedule it is easy. Once you stop eating something for 30 days in a row you no longer crave it. You eating so much processed/sugar foods did not benefit you. IF you had not eaten those for 30 days you would have surprised yourself in not really wanting to eat them and finding that if you did, they were not as satisfying.

IF is life changing, first month or so is a little rough, but cut out those sugars and bad fibers, just watch the fat fall off, you feel better, I remember how often I used get diarrhea during the week from eating junk food and drinking alcohol, now I drink maybe once a week and might have junk food occasionally, and by junk food I mean eating out somewhere, and that’s the only times I see changes in bowel movements. Coffee is my crutch for IF, I try to make 14oz last me until 2-3pm then I eat.

Really enjoyed the video. These are the lessons That Intermediate fasting taught me. It has become a natural way of life for my bod, so it does it every day. There are some days when the windows are shorter and longer, for example I like 16/8 however the day dictates 14/10 or 18/6 it is what it is. on those days I maintain the calories and the quality of food. Usually the hours are different do to being out and not able find quality food. I hold off eating rather than eating bad, the ketos will kick in and feed me.

How is that possible? I am curious, Do you just not do anything all day? I burn 4000+ calories a day so need to eat lots, 3 large meals plus snacks all day. I have very little body fat. I feel ill if i skip a meal, i get sugar rushes and crashes but feel there is no other way

It's not healthy to stick with one WOE for very long. I have wrecked my metabolism because of years of IF. My new strategy is to switch it up every five months or six months. Five months of IF, six months of regular eating, and 1 month of long-term fast.

If I don't chew my food... then doesn't my body have to work harder to digest it.. ie. burn more calories? I have a terrible time remembering to chew.

Damn, IF without diet like keto is an overkill. If I eat even a single fruit (let alone simple carbs like sugar) the food craving will spike like crazy And breaking your fast with bad carbs will give you even higher insulin spike, making things even worse than before

I am fasting 5 days a week and eating so much the other two. That's killing me i would say. I don't know how to manage it.. I eat until i bloat to death and i think i am diabetic now. my bodyfat percentage is 11 im 159 lbs and 5.11

dude, you're a big inspiration, even though i'm not into intermittent fasting. one tip for my diet i think everyone can benefit from is this: i don't push myself into eating anything i don't want, but within what i like, i try to eat healthy. example: i don't like salad, i don't eat salad. i like carrots, i eat carrots. i like chocolate, i eat chocolate, but very little, so that it is the exception. but you gotta focus!

Jason Pepín either set a meal plan with a certain amount of caloric intake and see how your body reacts to that for like 1 - 2 weeks intake or count calories and then make adjustments depending on your goals

IF since July. Down 25#. Omad, low carb, “durty carnivore”. 1 48 hour fast per month. Very positive. Autophagy is enhanced after 16 hrs.

“WOW” Researchers have found that ( pretty much researchers should have listened to you but researchers like researching and spent Hugh Amounts of $$$ researching! ) eating a healthy diet with natural foods wouldn’t include eating Doritos / drinking Coke / Pepsi products and any Brand pop ! So Researchers like the Monosodium Glutamate/ High Fructose Corn Syrup, this is perhaps why researchers spent Huge amounts of $$$ researching! But you gotta focus!

I used to do intermittent fasting, and while I don't think it's a bad way of life, I am not compatible with it. So what I'd like to share with anyone willing to listen is this: Do not do it if you have or used to have eating disorders. I've had anorexia, bulimia and lastly a binge eating disorder. Fasting always threatened to reactivate my former anorexia, severely increased my binges which also antagonized bulimic responses to eating. Super bad combos all around. If you're a person who gets severe feelings of hunger and wolf down your food if really hungry as I did in my early adult life, this isn't good for you as you're likely to develop stomach ulcers. Slow down your eating, which isn't very easy to do if you feel stressed because you have to eat your full days need of food in a small time window. If you also experience this issue, don't continue doing intermittent fasting. Have you ever been REALLY hungry, but you waited too long to get food so you lost your appetite almost completely? Not fun at all if you need a full days worth of food in a small time window. Make your own assessments, but I've now provided you some common experiences I had while doing intermittent fasting.

The visual was fun! I'm ADF for 9 days now. Today is a fast day, 16 hrs into my 36, I hate seeing junk food.... I want pizza with pepperoni, anchovies, jalapeños, and extra mozza. Got that outta my system. I've lost 3 pounds this week, which is fine. 😎

What I did to lose body fat . Ok. Since you asked. I fast in the morning . Then at lunch I attempt to to a backflip . If I cant backflip. I dont eat . Then I try a muscleup. If I cant do 1 muscle up. I dont eat . Then i ask out the prettiest girl in the gym. If she says no. I dont eat. So far I have not eaten anything in 6 months . But I'm losing bodyfat . Pretty soon I'll be able to float .

As a dietitian, I'ma dumb it down for people about the benefits Lucas is talking about. Basically ~95% of the health benefits he talks about is just from eating less processed/junk foods and eating more whole foods which often have less calories, are more nutrient dense, and will keep you fuller longer. Intermittent fasting done the way Lucas talks about will probably do very little for you compared to just eating healthier foods. So if you normally skip breakfast you could intermittent fast but you will likely see no difference if you already are eating healthy foods.
