Edric is a simic card drawing commander that goes for a Turns combo. With me for this deck tech I have LJ who have been playing Edric for 10 years. It is a commander that has kinda fallen off and gotten a bit forgotten. Other commanders have gotten a lot stronger over the years in this EDH format. But when you play a deck a lot. You can get some really cool results.

I'm running an Edric list on a $100 budget champ and having a really impressive result, on that budget I discovered that Druid's Repository is a bomb on this deck!

Just played this deck at LGS. superfun! LJ forgot one major piece of strategy to mention ! Politics ! It’s very easy to make friends and convince players not to swing at you because you are helping them get cards when they do . I actually was on the brink of losing to a cascaded board of slivers but then I convinced the sliver player to take out the other 2 players so he could draw 15 cards. And look at me I’m no threat I only have 2 1/1s on the board ! He took the bait and the next turn I was able to chain 9 turns and take him out . He was stunned . And we all laughed. During the game people were commenting that my commander does nothing and they should focus on other threats . Boy were they wrong XD. I think it’s best to Pod hop though because the jig is up after awhile lol

Very nice video, in the beginning i wasn't a big fan of long deck techs but the style grew on me, love the content. Speaking of the video I personally think one extra draw engine can be pretty good just in case you get Drannith Magistrate'd ... And also Ohran Frostfang can be used in conjunction with Fynn the Fangbearer in order to have a faster clock ... I don't know if that is optimal but i think it's worth giving a shot.

Awesome video Mons. I really liked that comment LJ made about playing the deck a lot until you master it and losing many games in the process. That definitely resinates with me as I’ve lost so many games with my favourite Cedh deck and was discouraged many times, but I kept improving my play style and the deck and now I have a 25-30% win rate with a deck that I have fun with. LJ seems like a really cool and wise guy to hang out with. Nicely done.

I feel like Yuriko sort of took Edric's place and would like to see it more because I feel like it's a great "meta-killer" deck. But Edric is super cool though and clearly LJ is an incredible pilot.

Absolutely. It’s in better tempo colors too given that dimir is excellent at control as well. You can’t just race with aggro strategies with combo decks. The more combat phases there are, the more combat matters

I kinda see Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion as a mono red Edric. But instead of extra turns and going wide you're more playing extra combats and protecting your King. Still surprised Neheb isn't on any cedh databases. Alongside Godo.

I think a lot of players just think he is to complex to pick up. Godo is really simple to just grab and play.

@@cedhtv I really enjoy the casino aspect of him. He can be very explosive winning turn 2 or 3. But sometimes he doesn't hit the cards. It's a very enjoyable deck.

I main him and he is a bit more difficult to pilot but very fast and strong. People really fear him when he comes down he is similar to Yidiris and narset but faster with the downside of being mono colored. Thankfully red has gotten lots of buffs

@@Dubrocq yeah I feel like almost every set there is one or two cards to Consider. Which is good in the future I think he will only be stronger and more resilient as a deck.

5-7 is incredibly fast for most playgroups but slow for cedh. Anyone winning before turn 4, I don't even want to sit down with tbh. I like to let everyone interact, do their thing, and I have a good chance to win anyway. Edric is perfect for that and I've been running him for about 7 years now :)

heyyy ive been running a very similar edric cEDH deck its very fun i run natural order and craterhoof behemoth to win because people get tired of waiting for me to take extra turns its a very fun deck and i imagine its annoying to play against haha. I need to update it though with allosauraus shepherd and finale of devastation!

I've enjoyed lonis in testing so far! Being able to use any extra mana you have lying around to crack clues has been pretty useful.

I will say the deck just needs a craterhoof though because taking all the turns while it works, it’s tedious .

I tried flash hulk in edrich but I found it had negative synergy with the amount of draw power the deck had at the time

People like to move cards from their deck into their grave. And it is a wincon. If you can cast it infinatly you can deck people and pass turn and win.

Right there, losing is a fun part of the game. Cause it makes you think, you need to improve, you need to study, and strategize more. Cause if you only win, theres no struggle, the game becomes stale and boring. Plus, its lonely at the top.

Ah yes a favourite of mine. Beastmaster Ascension is nuts in this deck, as you are using a ton of evasive weenies and cranking out a ton of quest counters quickly.

Is Seedtime to restrictive for this deck?

Seedtime isn't really what we want in Edric. Normally if someone is casting a blue spell during your turn, it's to counter something (usually a turn spell). In that one situation, Seedtime is great. A regular counter spell would also do the trick. However, a counterspell is good throughout the course of a game. Whereas Seedtime has very niche moments where it's good.

i like it in here (but my build is a budget version.) seedtime is "something no one is expecting" and even if it's dead, dead cards don't matter as much in edric because of how many yr drawing, imo. ymmv obv, especially if yr in a highly competitive meta.
