On BudgetEDH we build fun and optimized commander decks with a budget in mind. In this week's episode, we build a $100 budget Edric, Spymaster of Trest deck. Edric is a powerful commander that has a built-in draw engine attached to him. We will play out a plethora of low converted mana cost creatures, play an aggro strategy and draw a ton of cards. In addition, we built our deck to take advantage of taking multiple turns to help us win the game quicker.

I've been playing a version of Edric for years and think this is a really solid budget deck. My only small critique is the inclusion of Rapid Hybridization, Reality Shift, and Beast within. I've found through a ton of experience that giving your opponents creatures that are bigger than yours is a mistake. A 3/3 beast that can run over everything you have is bad news. I'd recommend adding another counterspell or 2 for removal, something like Aetherize or Aetherspouts for an emergency one sided board wipe or Nostalgic Dreams and Eternal Witness to rebuy something from your graveyard. Sorry if this comes across as too nitpicky.

You guys need some merch preferably a play mat....your decks are awesome. The ghave deck you made is one of the funniest decks I've ever played

That is so awesome to hear! I am glad you like the deck! Definitely will have merch here soon. We had a prototype playmat made awhile back that we liked the quality of. We'll have to get some more made! If there is any other merch you would like to see, let me know!

I like seed time! Can be reused (doesn’t exile). Always forget about that card because it’s green.

Extra turn spells suck. They exclude other players from the game and make it less fun.

Really just depends how they’re used. I thought the same, but I’d they aren’t looped, or just one after another, and the player knows what they want to do, it’s not so bad. One of my friends in mono blue will use one to get an extra land drop and untap, to have mana for counters. This makes him sound like a monster, but it is a quick extra turn.
