@@NewSchoolPOKERstrat You may only pair when both creatures are unpaired. If that is the case, then any time a creature enters the battlefield you may choose to pair them. One paired, this is no longer the case. It says paired unless it somehow becomes unpaired again (the originally paired creature leaves the battlefield, for instance)

Right? Okay cool. I think that is what the social contract of cedh is. I often hear people say we don’t have one. I think only making plays that Increase your chances of winning the game is the social contract

​@@PlaytoWinMTG Oh, crap, you're actually right. I looked into the mechanic a bit more, and I previously thought you could actually change the target after you were paired the first time. My bad. However... When I look at it again, I still think you could've won. You've had more than enough mana to play Buccaneer's ability 3 times, thet would've net you more cards than your max hand size and you would've won in that turn anyways. It would also have been possible one turn before that, if one of the three cards in your hand could either: generate 1 more mana, discard a card, or plus 1 card to your hand. Then you would' have enough mana to activate glinthorn once, putting you at 8 cards in hand (or more if you could make 1 more mana) and would be able to do the loop again. Personally, I would've activated glint horn anyways, as that would dig 4 cards deeper into the deck to try and find that 1 plus/discard option. So yeah, I misread the rule, but you still could've won 1 turn earlier.

No, if your clean up step resolved, if there are another triggered waiting on the stack, then it resolves again creating another clean up steps after all abilities emptied, for clear rule see rule 514.3a

If something is placed on the stack there will be a new clean up see 514.3a for more details.

@@PlaytoWinMTG check again with the judge. Even if they are bound you can rebound them. I lost an FNM because of this, and had a lenghty (albeit salty) talk with a judge (i casted sleep paralysis on a creature paired with silverblade paladin, only for a haster to come out on the opponents turn and get rebonded with the paladin for lethal).
