At the council of Nikea you see clearly the difference between Magnus, raised on a planet of Sorcerers and Jagathai, raised on a planet who had a shamanistic tradition of psykers. Magnus and his tradition were all about learning more, diving deeper, without care for safety, Jagathai's tradition was one of carefully drawing on the warp and he urged for a more riskfree approach. The Stormseers of Chogoris were aware of the dangers of the warp and this was a cultural thing, people knew the danger and their psychic tradition took it into account. Jagathai turned out to be right and Magnuses speech at that council was the cause of the ban cause he did not believe in limits.

The interesting part of the Emperor lore is the dynamic of 'did the Emperor allow everything catastrophic to happen for humanity to survive' or 'did the Emperor allow everything catastrophic to happen for *his* humanity to survive'.

I think leutin09 did the best series on the emperor. The videos are so good and so deep and he does talk about philosophical things as well with the emperor. what his mindset is or could be, why he does and thinks the way he does etc.

The Emperor DOESN’T know what is happening anymore Nux. That’s the whole reason why he has been so inactive. He knew half of his sons would rebel but he underestimated when they would and who would, and ever since then he’s been in a state of shock, disbelief, and anguish. The only time he has spoken pre-heresy is to Gulliman and Guilliman was shocked to hear how his “father” only saw the Primarchs as tools. He actually is going through a character arc tight now though as he resurrected Guilliman, told Mortarian he could still be reddemed, and then burned half of Nurgle’s garden after he got some hope seeing his son fight. (Guilliman was going through a “redemption” crusade fighting many of the Demon Primarchs and beating back chaos.) He’s currently coming to terms with his situation and starting to plan again, because for so long having failed his original plan threw him off.

some similiarities with a german scifi novel called perry rhodan that started in 1961. where an alien stranded on earth with primitive humans and the only way for him to get back into space was to advance their civilisation to a point where they could contact his home. and exactly in the same way he guided history and appeared as several folklore heroes.

The imperium occasionally established xenos "protectorates", but those were "temporary" deals and they were slowly eradicated unless they (like with the xenos that could be used to rejuvinate people) had something that the imperium could only extract while they lived

If you want to know what Jagathai thought of the emperor (please read his novel, it is awesome) I'd highly reccomend it, he also talked with Malcador and the Khan saw right through what Emps and Malc told him

Arbiter Ian's 'Legion Origins & Lore' series gives a pretty good introduction of each Space Marine legion from their creation, and how they changed after reuniting with their primarchs. At only 15 minutes each i'm sure there are others with more detail, but they could make a good addition to learning the primarch lore without adding too much time

The Mechanicum in it's earlier form was it's own empire, the emperor approached them as the "omnissiah" of their Machine god and displayed feats that proved this to (some of) the martian populace, this way he had the industrial juggernaut of the mechanicum on his side and their various forgeworlds as well, the emperor is fine with religion if he can use it (also he might have seeded their religion by placing a C'tan there), only during the heresy did the mechanicus officially fuse with the imperium and even then they are still largely their own thing

On the edges of the Eye Of Terror, the Orders of the Adeptus Titanicus roused their ancient war-machines. Having surveyed his Empire and seen it was ready the dying immortal within the Golden Throne prepared himself for the conflict to come. Gork and Mork knew that they were ready. Their people were agitated and prepared for battle The Emperor, their chosen enemy, had deployed his forces. The first skirmishes had been fought, now war was about to be joined. Beyond them they sensed the Chaos Powers watching, waiting to see what advantage the God-brothers' actions might bring them. In the darkest pits of creation twisted creatures prepared to follow the Orks' advance. Gork and Mork did not care. They knew they were strong enough to resist Chaos. The time was right. You gotta watch Malcador lore video. He honestly goes hand in hand with the emperor. He was the emperor’s one and only true best friend. His story though is a tragedy like so many in 40k but hits so much harder .

By the way Nux, there is one faction that has strong ties to the dark age of Technology, the Leagues of Votann, and they have a verry interesting dark side to them, I'd highly reccomend looking up Weshammers video on them if you want to see some of the stuff that they have compared to the Imperium

Before the primarchs were found the legions had own names and cultures, for example the War Hounds, who would once become the world Eaaters, the Star hunters, who would become the White scars, in those times these legions were fascinating, i'm not going to spoil too much, but it's great fun

I believe the two missing primarchs were initially games workshop making 2 custom space marine leigons, one loyalist, one traitor, that you could make completely on your own.

A small thing that I haven't seen anyone mention regarding lorgar. The emperor, didn't punish him because of his beliefs, he allowed this to go on until it became clear that Lorgar stayed more than necessary in each world spreading his faith, thus making him the most inefficient primarch with the lowest number of worlds and THAT'S when he stepped up told him to change his game

Regarding the Mechanicus, the video did skip on the part where the Emperor fought the C'tan the Void Dragon sometime in the middle ages, matter of fact in the wh 40k universe, Saint George the Dragonslayer is actually the Emperor, and the dragon is a C'tan, he then flung the C'tan on Mars, knowing that because of its presence on the planet the future inhabitants of Mars would evolve to be very technologically inclined, matter of fact it's very possible that the Omnissiah is actually the Void Dragon.

It would be amazing for nux to a dive on the very first warmaster, and one of the few people to stand up and tell the emperor he was wrong and still keep the emperor's respect: Ollanius Persson, a man older than the emperor, a former argonaut of legend, fighting in the fields of Verdun. A man who cut his way through time and space to talk down the emperor from his greatest moment of weakness right before he fought horus. This man stood defiant before an ascendant horus, the first warmaster vs the last, and gave his life to buy the emperor the seconds he needed to defeat horus.

Man you need to react to the mistakes of the emperor by the old man. Especially his explanation of the reasoning for the secrecy around the human web way is just amazing.

Nux should do a deepdive on 'I have no mouth and I must scream'

The interesting thing about the billions of humans sacrificed in the name of the Emperor is that, since reincarnation is canon in the 40k universe, people dying isn't actually a loss of the individual since they'll just get reborn. Or they would be if the chaos gods weren't fucking up the warp, which is why he fights them. So from the Emperors perspective he realy doesn't need to care about the individual human dying in battle but he does care about humanity surviving as a group, since as long as there are humans being born their souls can reincarnate in the future (which is also probly why he is so xenophobic since every xeno thats alive and using the galaxys ressources is one less human) Also if the Emperos does have this reincarnation perspective, the fact that Horus got his souls atomised means that he can't come back ever. Which might be why he why the Emperor favored him so, as he would know Horuses fate and knew his sons days were numbered. And with the Emperor becoming the God-Emperor following the Horus Heresy the thing thats the most tragic about his story is that, dispite his wishes, he had to become a god to protect humanity leave behind his own remaining humanity. He loved humanity but had to give up his own to protect them

I just realized even the Emperor himself is just a resource for the continuance of the future of humanity 🤔

Thing is that Faith (in all warhammer settings, in fantasy even somewhat unique to humans) is a verry stable way to channel psyker abilities, it is even somewhat "different" than normal sorcery, but what might be more important is some kind of "lore", the Stormseers of the White Scars and the psykers of space wolves both had cultural traditions about the use of magic in a stable and reasonable way these ways teach that you must take only what is needed, to not drink from the warp too much, to remain careful and alert. In all warhammer settings this once more is the case and although magic is different in fantasy and 40K this is important in all these settings

For Primarch lore deep dives, I highly recommend "The Amber King" channel. His series does an excellent job of explaining the inner motivations of the characters and their philosophies. And all his stuff is super high quality and voice acted.

This video is from before the latest Horus Heresy book series. Some parts are different now, retconned. Highlights are the fight against Horus and the Dark King.

Imagine dying, then going into the warp (since all the souls go there), and since you've been binded to the emperor's soul, you are guaranteed to be part of his undying legion of warp based psykers fighting against the daemons of chaos!

The emperor and his stance on faith are a big problem, they are also part of why Lorgar of the Word bearers turned traitor, it wasn't just Erebus (who is the worst), it was also the fact that he for a century invaded worlds and established emperorworship, built a holy city and wrote a book on the worship of the emperor. The Emperor did not reprimand him or d o anything against this, only when Lorgar failed to reach his quota of conquered worlds did he descend on the primarch. He walked up to him, with his golden armor, psychically made the whole legion kneel before him, burned Monarchia to the ground and then looked Lorgar straight into the face and said "I am not a God" With Erebus and Kor phaeron, both Chaos worshippers whispering in his ear, what do you think the broken primarch turned to?

The Sisters of battle are actually way more recent than you might think, originally Goge Vandire's bodyguards during the age of apostasy the custodes took their leader to the Throneroom of the emperor himself, when she reemerged she executed Vandire on the spot and from then on the "Brides of the Emperor" became the sisters of Battle 5weshammer has a good video on this )

A recommendation: Deep Dive on Chapter Master Dante, Leader of the Blood Angels & current Lord of HALF of the imperium. Guilliman himself sees Dante as an equal of sorts. Worth a deep dive in my opinion. Dude is a 1500+ year old space marine, oldest outside of a dreadnought.

2:41:04 I like to think the 1000 sacrificed Psykers, through the ritual, spiritually transported themselves to where the Emperor is and fight alongside him in the warp.

The warp is complicated. It was originally just a sea of souls. The war in heaven did corrupt it, and lead to the birth of the first 3 Chaos gods... but it wasn't until 1,500AD where they fully manifested. The lower demons did appear millions of years before though. Remember, basically time is just weird in the warp. Anyways due to the Eldar mostly feeding the creation of Slaanesh and the Orks feeding Gork and Mork. It was humanity these first 3 were shaped by and why the Emperor opposed them more than the other races. Obviously Slaanesh manifested thousands of years later which caused the Emperor to form the Imperium.

We know that the astonomicon can be turned off withtout causing the end of the Imperium. After the fall of Cadia, the opening of the Rift splitting the galaxy in two caused the Astronomicon to be inactive for about a month. Which created the greatest epidemy of "im shitting my pants" ever heard on Terra, but the Imperium survive. And nowadays, survive on the other side of the rift, without the light of the Astronomicon, as the Imperium Nihilus. For how long, we don't know. But humanity can survive without it for a moment

Also Nux, you should check out the lore of the warhammer non 40k universe. It's basically remove the space marine and put in holy knights that goes in 1 vs 10000 and somehow manage to succeed with the blessings of gods. The ultimate king arthur medival fantasy.

Since you reacted to Wendigoon recently, I'd recommend checking out his video on Faith: The Unholy Trinity lore. It's by far his most comprehensive video and the best deep dive into Faith's lore, imo. Faith lore is crazy good, as of most indie games lore. The scariest game I've seen and it just looks like an old-school Atari game.

Nux i will not accept your title of lore master until you react to Vaati's Armored Core 6 lore. Only a true lore master could react to such a monster of a video.
