@@MaryLynn_Buchanan do a patreon or crowd funding for them so that we can buy books with women in them and understand where we came from - rather than studying men all the time which is boring and repetitive - it doesn’t speak to me even though the techniques are good it doesn’t tell me about what it was like to be a woman creative, or through the centuries, which is important for us
Thank you very much for this video! I love that you also included a short introduction for every artist, so we can understand their background and what really drives them to make their art. I will personally appreciate if you give more pictures next time (I mean for example two works of the artist). Anyway, you did an amazing job, thanks.
This was wonderful and it was fun to see you so animated. We are used to the serious side of your personality. We didn't know you could be so fun:-) 🎉🎈✨
Nancy Ellingson is an 87 year old artist from Wisconsin who’s paintings have inspired me for 35 years. I personally think she is the greatest and most unknown contemporary artist hands down. I have a collection of photos from her body of work spanning 50 years which have been shown in either one of her numerous solo art shows, group shows and has a style of landscape painting that is the unlike anybody I’ve seen before or since. There will be a documentary on just her work alone one day. I’d put her best 40 works against any landscape painter across time and believe she is the greatest living artist.
♀Tks for the discovery of Jennifer Packer, Christina Forrer and Clare Woods whose work you showed I appreciated and tks for the ever liked Claire Tabouret and Cecily Brown.
I found that going to the blog was easier to view the work closely than watching it on your video as I felt the pieces you showed were too far away from the screen for proper viewing. Love the topic tho. I like several artists on your list but one of my favourite abstract artists is Elana Kundell.
I LOVE these videos. They're so informational and really helps me stay on top of other emerging artists and the need to knows. I love her taste in art and she's easy to listen to. Thanks Mary!
I don't know if I just have odd taste, but I am a little surprised and sad you do not highlight French artist Malika Favre that has a nice style of pop art.
thank you for your energie & time spending on these videos. I like the way you talk about art, the market, the galleries and the artists. It’s for everybody and not exclusive. Everyone can think about your opinions you share in your videos and it doesn’t feel like I need an educational background. Is there a place where I can suggest you artists? Is there a plan for a video about critics on the art market/gallery business? :)
Hi Mary, thanks for your video. What would you suggest for a female emerging artist, how to get promoted and get featered at a gallery or seen by a collector? Thanks
Thank you very much, I really aprecciate this video, I have been looking for each artist in instagram, I have taken 3 days, hahhahahhah. I have a crush with Clair Wood thank you for introducing her, she is amazing as you with your sharing. Don't worry for the pronunciation we live in a global world, we understand that no one can pronounce every lenguage but I feel that your sorry reduced the impact for eeach artist, you can think in say sorry only in the end or in the begining, I don't know , it's only an idea (in fact I´m sorry for my writting, ahahhahaah) Again, THANK YOU!
👩🏼🎨 yes made it to the end, now on to part 2. 🌟✨🌟 I am so happy that your channel popped up on my feed and over a few days I am working my way through your videos. Many thanks for your clearly articulated & upbeat perspective. I have diverted to deeper dives into several artists you highlight. Fell totally in love with the work of Elias Sime, thanks to you.
Never been a big fan of Cecily Brown, but I love love love her compatriot, the sculptor, Rachel Whiteread who I believe was the first woman to win the Turner prize. I quite like Sarah Morris as well who makes large scale abstract geometric paintings.
You should do a show on Hannah Holliday Stewart, sculptor. Unfortunately passed away a few years ago, but was one of the real trailblazers for women artists. Amazing huge piece in Herman Park, Houston, Texas.
Great concept, but too many advertisements for me! 50 minute video is well over an hour and the interruptions are annoying, I can't work on my own art while watching.
The images are too small and your head is super big in the frame for no reason. Maybe reverse that relationship if these videos are supposed to be about the art and the artists. People are here because the title suggested we'd learn about artists and their work, instead there's a giant head talking directly at us with one small image completing for space and loosing. Comes across as being more about you than about anything else.
Your vids enrich my life and enlarge my world - THANK YOU for popping up suddenly in my feed to "feed" me art in such delicious chunks - can't get enough of that! May I add another artist for your consideration from Canada: www.hollyfarrell.com/ She has managed to create her own niche - I believe she is or was repped by galleries in LA + NY.... Nina
