Had a 2017 and a 2020 6.7 Power Stroke. Went to a 2023 7.3 gas and don’t miss either diesel. I pull a 9,500 lb boat and it does great. Just not worth the diesel headaches for the weight I pull. Great video thank you.

What is your point? Plenty of us DO NOT pull a 5rh wheel or ever will. We aren’t dumb enough to get an unnecessary diesel headache truck. You do you though.

I will say, you must have a ton of tongue weight to make a f350 sag that hard with a bumper pull. I would say to redistribute the weight that is inside the trailer. That would help bigtime

Glad to see someone else appreciate the 7.3. I have a 2022 F350 with the 7.3 and 4.30. Towing my 38ft fifth wheel from Dallas to San Louis Valley, CO I average 7.5mpg until I hit the Raton Pass. After that MPG is about what you were getting at 6.8.

@@jamesvaldez4093 it tows really well. This is the second year making this trip and it's been a really good tow rig so far. Biggest thing is planning out the gas stops ahead of time to make sure you can get in and out without incident.

I really appreciate you doing these truck videos. I have been doing a lot of homework trying to decide which HD truck I’m going to purchase and it’s been between the AT4X and a platinum Tremor. At first I was all in on the diesel because I didn’t want the 6.6 L8T because it’s slow as snail snot yet the diesel is 10-12k more. Now this is really making me want to test drive a 7.3 Godzilla. The only thing is that I don’t know what the common issues are. Thanks again man I really appreciate you.

I went from a 2017 cummins to a 2023 7.3 godzilla. It is a Huge upgrade and I don't really feel like the power difference was all that much but the truck is way smoother and quieter and handles a 15k trailer much better.

That 7.3 Godzilla is amazing! I'm a Mopar guy but have always been impressed with the 7.3 since it came out. I would want a lower gear ratio though, 4:10 maybe?

@@derekroose6940 I have the 10 speed. The trucks is a 2024 F450 High Output. I haven't been paying attention to RPM at 70mph and don't normally run up to 75mph.

Most 35" tires do not have to correct load rating for 3/4 or 1 ton trucks. This is the reason the at4x has 305s and the ford has 285s. To be honest only a hand full of 35" have even the right max tire pressure for the trucks.

Yup, 285 (or 295) is the way to go, much higher load rating.

Not to hate on ford... but with 8k lbs, i woudl expect a little more. Can you imagine doing this with that F350 max rating? It does seem that this is doing better than the Chevy, but when you compare this test to the test of the Titan XD gas that JB did, these trucks make the titan XD look even more impressive.

Set aftermarket tire pressures based on the markings on the sidewall, not the door. Floatation sizes cannot handle the pressure of non-flotation tires. That is why there C1/D1/E1 and C2/D2/E2 load ranges. The 1 designation will always have a higher inflation rating that the 2.

Pretty sure he didn’t go up a 6% grade in the XD. XD is a great truck but it’s not going faster up a 6% grade than a 7.3.

@@AB-coyote I have a 21 xd with k&n cold air exhaust and 60 hp chip and I pull my 12000 lb fith wheel just as good as that 7.3 the xd is totally under rated

Don't tell people that towing through the mountains works with a normally aspirated gasoline engine. The properties of air density have been the same for millions of years. In thin air that 7.3L can't breathe, period. A normally aspirated gasoline engine loses 3% of its HP for every 1000ft of elevation above sea level. You live in Utah, take that trailer from Parowan up to Brian Head, see if it can get you there.
