Hey Ryan, I’ll see you at the start too. I had a blast at Mohican and ran the 100 plus met up with Dan(UltraDad) and his brother Will. Really enjoyed talking to them and meeting their family. This will be my 3rd BR 100 and I can give you some advise. First don’t run too fast with the first 15 miles. It can be very tricky and you will run faster than what you will probably want to. Second be very careful when running through the ledges it will be very very technical and dangerous. Finally when you reach the 5 mile stretch of the bike and hike to Silver Springs , it is the most horrible, hottest and pounding part and directly in the sun. My suggestion is to run on the grass on the side. And a lot of people do wear running shoes for this course. Yes there’s a lot of flat in a lot of runnable areas. The Hoka Tecton X2 is a perfect shoe for this course. Also, you can actually wear running shoe like Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 as well that will give you great lateral support with the new design of the ptu plate. Good luck Ryan and see you at the start.

I fall into the same nutrition trap where I’ll skip using race day fuel for runs because of expense and preparation time.

Love the videos, and always have brother. Sometimes though, ya gotta stop the game of constantly trying new fuel/gear and just run. In the end, what matters is hard work, not all the shiny stuff. (Unless it's just a way to make a living, then I get it) Fueling is simple: Eat real food, lots of it, and run.

I'll see you there, I'm also in the 100, I hope we get to meet! Look for the shortest lady! Nutrition wise, I agree about how expensive it is. I pretty much only use what I'm going to use for the race in training for 1 or 2 months leading up to it. Spring Energy and Skratch. Nutrition/hydration is a ton of work. We're 24/7 athletes. I find myself lazy about it, too. I hope that your week leading up to the race goes well!

Whilst not trying to teach you suck eggs the big one I found for preventing my stomach issues was ensuring my salt levels were maintained. I used Precision Hydration tabs in my bottles last 100 and I didn't suffer at all when ordinarily I couldn't eat much from the 40/50 mile mark through nausea. Good luck.

Great training specifically for conditions, a good reminder to us all 👍 Interested to hear why you switched from natural ingredients Spring to chemicals & processed sugars of SIS and RedBull? May I recommend Lucho Dillitos guava blocks and Huma (chia) gels. They are a gamechanger for me. All the best for the remainder of training to the race, Ryan. 😊❤

I've been using SIS gels for a few years now. What I have liked is that when other gels leave me with a bit of nausea, the SIS gels seem to go down a bit easier. I think it is because of the isotonic solution -- allowing easier absorption. I'll be interested in seeing how they work for you. The downside is the size of the gel, but still worth it, I think.

Are all your gels high in maltodextrin? If I have too much of that, it can cause GI issues. (I read that in "I'm here to win" by Macca (triathlete) and in it, he talks about when he was in a race and had too much maltodextrin, a competitor told him to drink coke and water, and said it worked.) Not sure if that could be your issue, but maybe it helps? Best of luck!! Love your videos with your perspective!!

Stop with all the gels and sugar/substitutes. Use Vinnie Tortorich's Nut Butter and call it a day -- real fuel, all ya need.

Great video Ryan!! If you haven’t already done it, check your glute, to see if it’s tight. I had an issue a few years back where my calf tightened up and I could barely run and it turned out my glute and piriformis was tight
