Hey Marcus, love your videos, keep up the great work and the pyramid analogy is great. Would be great to see what you're doing in the gym for strength? For me the strength part can be the most fun, and lots of benefits including maintaining muscle mass

Thanks. 🙏 I will try to do an episode with strength training.

Typically I do deadlifts, barbell squats, calf raises. I also like to use the kettlebell 💪

Thank you so much Marcus for sharing this video and updating us on your progress. It’s incredibly inspiring to see how you’re tackling each phase of your training with such dedication and detail. I particularly appreciate your insights on building a strong base and how you’re incorporating various training zones into your routine. I have to admit, strength workouts in the gym or at home are my Achilles’ heel. However, your emphasis on the importance of these sessions, especially during the base-building phase, to prevent injuries, has motivated me to commit more seriously to them. It’s clear that these workouts are crucial for a well-rounded training plan and can make a significant difference in overall performance and injury prevention. Thank you again for the motivation and for sharing your journey with us!

As we get older the strength training becomes even more important. I try to enjoy it as it is easier to create habit around something you like 👍

@@MarcusKjellberg That’s a great point, Marcus! Finding enjoyment in strength training definitely seems key to making it a lasting habit. I’ll take inspiration from your approach and try to focus on the enjoyable aspects. Thanks for the encouragement! 👍

Hi Marcus. I see you are signed up for Snowdonia UTS 100m. Hopefully see you there - my friend and I are doing the 100k. I ran with you for a little bit on the VDA in 2021 and UTMB in 2022. Best of luck dude.

Great video Marcus! I'm also a geezer who likes the long runs in comfortable tempo far too much. Convinced that a coach is the best solution if someone wants to improve their performance in running a effective and sustainable way. Does your coach take on more clients?
@MarcusKjellberg
@MarcusKjellberg 8 месяцев назад
I'm pretty sure Christian takes on more clients. Best is probably to send him an email: christian@ironcoach.se. Ask if he can set up an intro meeting where he can take you through his philosophy etc. He have lot of success as both a coach and one of the best ultra runners in Sweden with a background in triathlon. You can also look at his website but that is mostly in Swedish: ironcoach.se

I am pretty new to your channel and I’ve been wondering how long have you been already training and what is your background considering running. Your videos are fantastic, thank you for making them!

Thank you very much. I have been running ultras for the last 8 years or so. I did run road marathons before but I'm new to structured running and following a program

Love watching these , thank you for sharing !! I know you do a decent bit of mountain biking and non running activities , how do you weave that in and find a good balance ?

Thank you! I add cycling as I feel. I try to cover at least the key sessions that are planned and then if I replace some recovery sessions or add on top of depends on how much time I have. It is nice with changing sports. I will talk more about this in the future

Great but WHY does the fact that your heart is beating faster make your legs prone to injury? Asking for a friend.
@cherries4life387
@cherries4life387 8 месяцев назад
As you are moving faster than normal (causing the higher heart-rate), you put more force into the ground each step, which puts extra stress on the muscles, tendons and ligaments. Also, the muscles need to work harder to produce this extra speed in the first place, which potentially can cause a tear.
@MarcusKjellberg

Increased speed comes with higher HR. The speed and the increased impact forces gets you injured. Might consider to do these on a bike instead as you do not have impact forces in that use case

What's your thoughts on strenght training on easy days? Is it something just perosnal?
@MarcusKjellberg
@MarcusKjellberg 8 месяцев назад
In the base period you might want to focus on the strength training and then I would do strength before an easy session. Later periods when the interval is the focus you could do strength after the interval to maximise the recovery until next interval. Some thoughts at least but do what fits your schedule 👍
