I started my indoor plant obsession about 6 months ago.....I'm nearly 100 plants in and am happy as can be! I've loved learning about all my houseplants and have very much enjoyed my 10 year old son's recent interest in cacti! I prefer the more common types of houseplants and don't get swept up in the rare and expensive ones.......my wish list consists of Hoyas (I still haven't been able to find any in my hometown!!) and maybe an orchid, tho I'm still learning and debating those. I enjoy your videos and enjoy seeing Claire and Trickie Woo.....I have three rescue dogs: Molly, a Catahoula Cur, Ohana, a Staffordshire Terrier and Bonnie, my fiesty Chihuahua......Thank you for sharing your shopping days and your plants with us, Ashley.....and for keeping it real with the not-so-perfect plants you have! Keep up the good work!!

@@lesliebegamkenefic5961 I actually just got back from a family vacation which included a trip to Charlotte, NC and I was able to visit two of the nurseries Ashley has shown us: Pike's and King's!! I purchased a Hoya Krimson Queen, a Hoya Tri-color, a Hoya Pubalix and a Hoya Krimson Princess!!!!! I got a few others but those four were definitely tops on my wish list!! :)

Its actually comforting to see someone struggle with normal planty problems lol. My string of turtles is my constant stresser. Philodendrons and Monstera are just such champions. And balancing a succulent obsession outside and an indoor jungle is interesting they have such different needs so was interesting to branch out to indoor plants for me but they are alive and growing so I feel Im winning

When you said you sprayed them down with carper cleaner I was like "thank god I'm not the only one!" I accidentally sprayed my air plants with rubbing alcohol. 100% my fault. I had my rubbing alcohol spray next to my filtered water spray because I have plants right by the door but as well as my little disinfecting area for when I come home

My Hoya curtisii just existed and grew a couple of leaves now and then until I put it out on my screened porch this Summer (S.C.) and it’s grown like crazy. Easily tripled in bushiness and length. I’m sure it was the humidity and heat because she already had Eastern sun. She’s one of my last ones to come in because she’s still so happy out there. I even knocked off a few pieces, rooted them and stuck them in Leca on the porch and they’re growing like crazy. Good luck! 🍀

Hello Ashley! My advice to you is to remove plants from windows, especially now when the cold weather is coming. The glass is cold and it is not good for the plants to lean against the cold glass. Put your hand on the glass and hold your fingers or palm for a while so you will see how cold the glass can be. Plants should be at least 20 to 30 cm away from the glass on some shelves, etc ... Secondly, if you have started heating, it would be good to start using a humidifier or if you have radiators around the house, it would be good to put wet cloths or towels, anything will increase the amount of moisture in the rooms.

I’ve noticed the lemon lime philodendron and the Brazil like a lot more light. I also had them next to my pothos and they were declining. As soon as I put them near my east facing window they are taking off. Dealt with mealy bugs on my birds of paradise but my fungus gnats outbreak is fixed.
@fignewton0000
@fignewton0000 3 года назад
I find a lot of the fungus gnats in my place wind up on the windows chasing the light, so I put double sided sticky tape on the windows. Walmart sells easy-peel ones in the garden section. That made the biggest impact. Also home depot sells "mosquito bits" but they're good for everything bug-wise. They're like a bacteria that feeds on the larvae and is safe for the plants. There's tons of bacteria in soil already but its weird to think you can just buy bacteria

The hoya @ 14:09 needs very bright sun. Mine is on a South facing window sill in NYC in the 4" grow pot . I water it every 12 days approx. after removing it from the decorative pot for a few days otherwise it sweats too much. I recently purchased it at a green market and it has grown faster than all of all the other 4 hoyas I have since spring. It's a beauty.

Don't worry about the warscewiczii!! Mine did the EXACT same thing. The yellowing originally started with 2 smaller leaves towards the bottom. After consulting with some plant friends of mine, I decided to chop off the "infected" leaves. I moved it to a less humid area (high 50s to high 60s %), and a pretty low-medium light area. Since then, she's working on 2 new leaves and I haven't noticed any more yellowing. Definitely just needs time to adjust! Such a gorgeous and underrated plant 🌱🥰

your Adansonii ran out of moss pole to climb, so it sends out a vine to look for something to climb. just wrap the vine back down the moss pole, it gives a fuller, bushier plant once the vine shoots out leaves. i do this a lot with my Adansonii, trailing it back up and down. it lets it grow continuously and gives a very beautiful plant

Thank you so much for sharing this video. I feel I'm in the same boat with some of my plants (which I've collected over the past 6-9 months). It's frustrating, but I've tried propagating to salvage some plants that look like they're unhappy and it has really worked! I'm using perlite, plastic zip lock bag and my grow light in case you're interested in trying this out. I have a hoya curtisii on my east facing window and it is living the life there-it's not direct sunlight-but it is long days of indirect sunlight and I only water it every 3-4 weeks. My little peperomia looked like yours and I placed it in a cloche in my north facing winding and it appears to be reviving-worth a try.

The plants I'm losing lately are: Maranta -losing leaves and drying up. Fatsia - started to droop drastically. Repoted with new soil but didn't work. Monsters adansonii - drying up amd losing leaves. I have tried everything and they just keep dying. It upsets me so much to lose any of them. Especially considering that I have had some plants for over 20 years.

Your adasonii probably stopped shooting leaves because it ran out of pole. It's vibing off looking for somewhere to grab on before putting out more.

that marantha peacock I think it is. It looks like it has that bacteria or fungal disease. Lately I have seen so many plants with something similar at Lowe’s and Home Depot. I had to throw away some of my plants because I couldn’t seem to get rid of it.

I would recommend Bonide Insecticidal Super Soap (a stronger version of Captain Jack’s Dead Bug Brew; has a higher concentration of the main ingredient spinosad), or Doktor Doom mite spray to really knock out spider mites!!

Enjoyed the plant tour. Just brought in my schefflera and it had sticky sap. Yup. Scale. Why didn't I see it before? So hard to get rid of.

Hi! Love your videos! I just thought I would let you know that your calathea in the ikea basket is actually a ctenanthe lubbersiana or never never plant. They get confused with calathea or called that all the time though because they are prayer plants. Just thought I would help! Keep up the great work!!!

Calathea plants like humidity to keep their leaves from getting brown, and crispy.

I have the same problem with my hoya curtsii, it was fine for at least 3 years and then it decided to die and there was no stopping it. Watering it didn't work and not Watering it didn't either. I tried to propagate it in water and in sphagnum but they would not root so I have one small piece left now and it is barley alive.

I went from 7 plants to 57 since April, lol. What grow bulb did you put in your ceiling fan? I've thought of doing that but thought they'd be too far away to do any good.

Never mix your neem solution in an old/rinsed out all-purpose cleaner bottle, unless you want to clean your stovetop with it! Yes, sadly I’ve made this mistake.
