Have you ever thrown away your plant cuttings because they never rooted or rotted after a few weeks? In this video, I'm going to share with you how I propagate my expensive, sensitive rare plants. The benefit of using this propagation method is to ensure every cut you make is necessary. After using this method, I am able to increase the propagation success rate to 100%, and they root within a few days (in summer time)! This method works for most of the houseplants!
Some of you guys told me that this method is called air layering. Before I posted this video, I thought I was the first one came up with this method and was clever. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

Nicole do you have a method for ZZ plant? Currently it's a long wait game but so with it. I took some cuttings put them in water left them for months and topped it off often roots formed then the bulbs then new root bulbs with their own shoots as the cutting died off. From 4 cuttings I have 1 original cutting and 8 or more root bulbs with several shoots. It took 6mos just to see roots. I get sick and never put in dirt so I started to transition the saplings by adding soil to the water with nutrients in it. It's been a few more months growing like this. I will repot them this week. I also cut up some snake plant stems that were too long and put in water they now all have roots and are ready to go in soil for new snake plants. I never thought about selling them but the zz for sure is a labor of love that I will be selling.

I’m gonna try it you’ve given me the inspiration! I have a huge standelyana that I tried to take cuttings and root in water and it just rotted I’m gonna try this. Also for my tetrasperma that is too large and growing into the ceiling. I’ve been able to water prop but it takes a long and the conversion to soil nearly killed them so I think this will be easier on them. Thank you so much!

🌓Hey there Nicole how are you doing love? First I would like to say you are such a beautiful soul, such a sweet spirit, you videos are are very informative but yet relaxing, I haven’t seen this method you shared today either on YT. So thank you soooo much for sharing, I am eager to try this and I will keep you updated for sure, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge of plants and for taking us shopping for plants. Lol. I have a huge collection of plants, I love plants so much, I was blessed to find a very healthy zz plant with 5 or 6 plants in it for $2. 62. I thought I was seeing things, it screamed with excitement in Walmart in Alabama. It was in clearance, I was praying for a zz plant at a great price, but a very healthy one of course and I got it, I also picked up several more plants for cheap. They were very healthy as well, I even checked the roots and examined them for pests, and I am very satisfied of my new babies, maybe I’ll take some pictures of my plants and send them to you by IG. But first I want to do your method on some of my plants. Thanks for all the hard work you put into your videos, and please know you I truly appreciate it. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing more wonderful videos. Bless you Nicole and have a wonderful rest of the week.🦋

I used air layering recently for a hoya chelsea. I got it in the mail and one of the main stems was broken but not completely. So the outer layer of the stem was already compromised. I put a little rooting hormone in the cut and then built a little pocket with plastic wrap and sphagnum moss and kept it moist. Keeping it moist in my climate was a bit challenging. I had to use a little dropper to add water to the pocket every few days. It developed roots inside the pocket in about two weeks. I kept it there for two more weeks, then made a full cut. I left the moss because the roots had adhered to it, then buried the roots and moss in soil.

this comment is old, and I'm not sure if you figured out another solution or not but I did see a video with air layering where the person was very careful to tightly secure the top and bottom of the Saran Wrap and then wrapped the saran wrap in foil and they said it was to keep the air rooting/moss from getting too hot. Not sure if that would solver your issue but it seemed to work well int the video I saw. Good luck!
