I have a boosted EK Civic coupe with the B18B1, GSR trans with an LS 5th, 6063, BC stage 2 turbo cams, BC dual valve springs with titanium retainers, at 15 psi on stock internals it made 408 whp. I just got Eagle H-Beam rods and Wiseco pistons for it along with a new 60-1 Turbonetics, a new PLM top mount turbo manifold and downpipe, a new OBX LSD, and I'm shooting for 550 whp by the end of summer. I've only ever run it at the strip once and without an LSD the best I could run was 14.7 @ 100 on spanked 205/40/17s spinning all the way through the 1/8th and that was on 8 psi. Good things are to come.
Planning On boosting a stock lS what upgrades would you recommend before turbo not looking to make too much power or boost just a fun daily driver thanks in advance !
hey there just wondering what you ran on street tires. I trapped a 114.5mph on 205mm nitto neogens and was curious how much mph the slicks would kill. Thanks
Yo im just curious i have a b20turbo setup makes the same power, was wondering if you ever ran your car on semis and is it worth it? Or better off just spending the money on full slicks ?
Drag radials are a little better than normal street tires. For FWD cars, slicks make a huge difference. I saw consistent .3 quicker in the 60ft with slicks from drag radials
would a this motor be good for a good street build? I'm looking for a cheap swap and build that's better than my d16. I was looking into getting vtec but it's expensive af
Put them down to about 10 psi and they might kinda hook. This car short tracked so well which is why it ran such quick ET's. It ran consistent 1.6 1.7 60ft's.
A stock ls can hold 14 but you should get arp head studs and rod bolts cause they both suck stock. I have a ls in my eg running 10psi for a daily, I could turn it up to 14 and have no worries just haven't got bored with 10 yet.
Psi is only relevant to the turbo pushing it.. Stock B series motors are safe to about 300whp on pump gas, no matter the amount of psi it takes to get there.
There is no exact psi number a motor can handle as every turbo puts out different cfm at same psi. All stock Bseries are fairly safe to about 300whp on pump gas, whether that takes 5 psi from a huge turbo or 30psi from a little baby one, doesn't matter.
His Dudeness this vid is almost 7 years old.. I sold the entire swap at the end of the 2012 season after making hundred of passes.. kid I sold it to made a couple hundred more passes before something let go in the bottom end. I think it’s cause he was using junk oil, I always ran Brad Penn in it.
you picked the right engine to boost, vtec and turbo don't go together well. The b18b has less parts in the head making the oil flow better, also lower engine speed usually means it will last longer, not to mention the long gears of the ls transmission
Brendon00000 has no idea what he's talking about. Tyler OS clearly does. As do I. I love the remark about the B18B having less parts in the head so the oil flows better. Wow. Really? It flows better...? Didn't know you were a professor in fluid dynamics. The DOHC VTEC motors MUST flow plenty of oil---- they rev to 8200 rpms and beyond. You think honda would engineer a motor to rev that high but not flow oil well? Moron. And a longer gear transmission only works when you use a BIG TURBO. I would not call an EVO 16G a BIG turbo. And a T-3 would be a better choice for this LS motor anyways. I bet Brendon00000 doesn't even own a turbo car. Let alone a Honda.
