100% WEIGHT FORWARD? ➡️ The Wrench Drill ➡️

The biggest deficiency of skill in every regular golfer is they inability to control the low-point of the swing. That means they cannot hit the ground in the same place every time they swing, and seldom do they EVER hit the ground far enough forward to promote the optimal ball, then ground, contact.
The number 1 reason that golfers are so deficient in this skill is because they never have their weight far enough forward - towards the target - at any point during their set-up or their swing.
Conversely, the best ball strikers ALL have their weight forward at set-up and then have it further forward at impact, and further forward still in the finish. ➡️➡️➡️
In this video, I explore the reasons why most golfers never fully grasp this skill, and it’s got a lot to do with poor instruction. I’ll also discuss how YOU need to be more open to the idea of making BIGGER changes to elicit a far greater shift in terms of a swing change. You’re not making this change because:
1. You’re not told to.
2. You’re not exaggerating the feeling enough.
Staying comfortable is a sure fire way to guarantee zero change and mediocre performance! Be brave... and try 100% WEIGHT FORWARD next time you practice or play.

When I took up golf in my 40s I read lots of conventional instruction books that all emphasized starting with more weight on the trail side. I struggled with an OTT swing and lots of shanking short irons. One day I tried keeping all my weight forward. Immediately I struck the ball solidly and without shanking. I couldn't believe it. This contradicted all I had read about the golf swing. Surely good players didn't play that way. I continued the way I had been playing and it's only recently that I've allowed myself to set up with more weight on the forward side. Wish I'd had the courage of my convictions many years ago.

Bad advice is plentiful in the golf world. Al Geiberger advised turning the shoulders level, so I played that way for years as I was a fan of his. He later became a fan of the S&T swing, and said do this and throw away those how to play books, including mine.

Hi Rob, Ive only been playing for 7yrs, I'm 79yrs old now, but still quite fit and agile. It's been a somewhat frustrating 7 yrs with of course inconsistencies. You're the first instructor to mention 100% weight fwd with an iron, and I'm so pleased how well I have improved. Along with your other videos. Thanks very much for you clear, precise and method of instruction. I would love to have some instructions with you, but I live in Bali, indonesia. SOB, tried this New Setup, little crazy at the start, with the weight forward onto my Lead Foot/Hip, very different however, Hit all Irons, 4 Hybrid, 5 Wood, 7 Wood 15 Yards further, and 90% 15 yards Center/Left of the Centerline Fairway. That said, the 3 Wood, Driver, forget it, definitely a feeling of hitting down with longer clubs, did much better with the 3 Wood, Driver not even close to fair, stop hitting couldn't get off the Tee.

In my opinion as a senior golfer of 60 years plus, having played golf for more than 40 years, this stack and tilt method is not suitable for senior golfers. I tried it and experienced pain in my upper spine and left hip. It is not a natural movement and furthermore, nearly all PGA Pro's do not swing this way. If you're young you can try it, but if you're over 40 years of age forget it. There are better more natural options.

Really interesting concept which I've considered in the past but never really given it any real time or effort, however, I'm pretty sure that I suffer from swaying in my backswing which naturally causes far too many poor shots which I'd love to eradicate so I'm going to take your instruction to the course tomorrow to see how I fare. I've got to say that I'm quite excited by this change I'll incorporate in my swing tomorrow as it feels so natural and comfortable as I make practice swings in my house. Here's hoping for some good results in the morning!!

One of the biggest pitfalls of stack and tilt and weight forward golf is that some people don't make it back to the reverse "c" in the swing and they tend to hurt their back because of it. Not that this theory isn't correct, but a new golfer that doesn't understand the correct position of the body at follow through can experience real back problems in the future.

Rob, you have resurrected my game. I had given up on golf at age 69. A scratch player in my 30's, I hung up the sticks at age 55. At 65 I tried most RU-vid videos and got confused. Things started making sense to me when I started following the stack and tilt system. I would work on one technique for two months before starting a new video. I have shot my age, 70 many times and hit the ball further than my 50 year old playing partners, and this is with 15 year old clubs. I see no point in buying new clubs when I am driving the ball 270 yards plus at my age. A friend of mine bought a new high tech driver last month for $500 and I asked him if he still had the receipt so he could take it back. I out drive him by 40 yards. I'm sure this can help a lot of people. However it seems to me when you do this you lose one of the advantages of the more conventional shift back, then forward. When I move my weight to the back foot and then start my downswing with a hip bump/weight shift, it encourages the arms to drop naturally from their high point into the slot. If I don't have that weight shift I find I have a tendency to lunge at the ball from the top with generally bad results. So how do you encourage that initial drop of the hands/arms when all the weight stays on the front foot?
