It was the 427 cross ram that introduced me to your channel. It's good to see folks that trade, build, scrape and scrap there way to the car they want. Nothing against the folk that got cubic dollars but nothing like building it yourself! Good stuff! Best of everything on your journey.
Thanks for watching closely and noticing how we fund our racing. I never came from money motivation is all I have had . Even our hand tools are 2nd hand . Bought from auctions, found in old cars I bought to flip . We are going to keep funding more interesting builds the same exact way .
Yes young man they do drink sum fuel. The bigger you go the more they drink. You have taken me back 30 years. The first blown injected alcohol was a 355. It ran 430 eighth mile in a short red. You could bracket race it. Our local track had started an Outlaw run what you bring class. That kicked off a horse power WAR. Guys were going nuts spending money, way more than the purse was. Bragging rights I guess. Had a new red built and put together a 421 like yours it had an 871 on it. Second pass everything new. Blew everything from the cam down out the bottom. Busted that new little m block, blew the trans apart, broke that new pro gear. What a mess. Just like you we were in the learning stage. Too lean we didn't know that at the time but we learned. The next red was a used new to us top alcohol dragster. Built a hemi for that one. 1471 high helix oh boy would she go. Held the track record with that one for a couple of seasons. On a real good night she would run 3.70's with straight alcohol. Started mixing a little nitro from time to time. That makes a whole new game. I'm sure you know that. Mixed a little nitro in that blown 355 a few times back in the day. You can Experiment with that some day. Well enough of reliving the past. On with the future. Awesome to see your love for the sport. Thank you for sharing your adventures
Thank you for the story! We would eventually like to mess with some nitro but thats a little ways off for now. We are gonna find out what this car likes and how it runs and go from there. We brought it up on the transbrake yesterday in the drive and it loved every second!
8:41 minutes into the video I am talking about the taper and the way to properly install them. We also are able to consistently get it started now this was all new to us at the time
It all boils down to money, that is how much do you want to allocate to a project of this magnitude. Hopefully the engine will live long enough to get it properly tuned and have enough fuel on to top end, so the engine doesn't lean out and grenade. Looks great!
ALWAYS have a butt in the seat when the engine is running. I know a racer who reached into his rear engine car, flipped the switch and got run over by the back tire when the thing lit up instantly. And as he flopped around the floor in pain with broken bones, watched his new dragster take off out the garage, across the street and into the neighbour's house.
To start this you use the gas bottle and spray fuel in to get it running. Once it's running then you open the fuel sahutoff and let it start running on its own. You can see the exhaust get sniokey and black and then it's time to stop feeding it gas. Just usae ordinary pump gas to get it running. BTW- this advice is from an ex Top Fuel racer.
If you guys are looking for a little fill blower manifold with burst panel already installed get a hold of me I got a brand new setup for your big block nice front engine dragster
