10mm P220 Legion EDC Update 

Absolutely. The P220 in 10mm is really a phenomenal pistol. I am in between getting a 10mm 1911 next of the P220 in SAO.

Shooting it with the Sarge I have P220 SAO 10mm Stainless with rosewood grips. I love it, it’s like a modern 1911.

Awesome, I was thinking the same. I like the replacement slides and the availability of parts.

Shooting it with the Sarge, I bought 3 magazines, and recoil spring, I wanted a back up spring. I have not bought any other parts. One thing is the spring is strong.

What holster are you using?

Awesome the P226 is next on my list. How do you like the MK25

​​@shootingitwiththesarge I love my P226 MK25. It's the one pistol of mine that I'll never sell or trade. It'll stay in my collection until I leave this Earth, at which point it will go to my son. I've found my P226 MK25 to be flawlessly reliable, extremely accurate, and so smooth in its operation. I'd say I've run about 4,000 rounds through it... it's never malfunctioned. I most typically run Underwood Ammo (UA) 9mm Luger 124 Gr +P FN FMJ loads for practice, as it feels identical to my favorite 9mm Luger carry load, UA 124 Gr +P (Speer Gold Dot) Bonded JHP. I purchased it, used, in late 2015, for $730. It came with the SIG Short Reset Trigger already installed, which is really sweet. The original SIGlite steel tritium night sights faded, so I replaced them about three years ago with a set of Trijicon HD steel tritium night sights. The original stock polymer P226 grip panels have been replaced with much grippier G10 grips (about 2 years ago). When I street carry this pistol, I do so with flush fitting Mec-Gar 18-round 9mm Luger magazines for 18+1 capacity, vs. the original stock SIG 15-round mags. For woods carry, I run UA 9mm Luger +P 147 Gr FN HCL loads in a Mec-Gar 20-round extended magazine (20+1 capacity). She's not seen much use since Aug2022 when I acquired a $599 10mm Auto pistol, primarily for woods carry, but the 10mm Auto catridge is so satisfying and enjoyable to shoot that I street carry my 10mm Auto now during the winter, too. But my 10mm is just a striker-fired polymer wonder pistol, not an all-metal DA/SA hammer-fired keeper like my P226 MK25. Good things! 👍

Correct. The Single Action Only variants have a manual thumb safety. The DA/SA models like the one that I have do not have a manual safety.

I saw a couple on gunbroker but no where near a price I would ever pay for one. I bought this one at brand new $1,300 and that was a steal.

It's kinda like driving a 1970 Challenger. You don't need a 426 Hemi, and there are plenty of more efficient and established options, but the American identity has not traditionally cared much for the status quo. We want excessive. We want the biggest, fastest, strongest; while others cut serving size, focus on fuel economy, and complain if their carry options weigh more than their triple caramel macchiato, we have a 12 oz steak wrapped in bacon for breakfast, drive V8s to the grocery store, and carry full size guns that can and have staggered a Cape Buffalo. You do you, boo. But personally, I've shot so much 10mm that I find 9mm and .45 to be underwhelming and anticlimactic. I like having more. Like putting your foot into that 426 Hemi, it just feels right. I hear a supersonic 200 gr JHP hit a plate, see that transfer of momentum, that energy, and it makes me smile. Why would I go back to stale and bland 9mm? Because everyone else does? I don't understand socks with Crocs, wearing hats with their bills sideways or half the stuff kids do these days. I still wear my pants on my waste with a belt and carry a full-size handgun.

There are several leather holster options from Wright Leather Works for both IWB and OWB. If you want an OWB holster for it the Safariland 578GLS is a great option.

The Safariland 578GLS that I have a video on 100% carries this P220 Legion 10mm with a 5inch barrel. I carried it yesterday in that holster.

No problem. The bottom on the 578 is open. So any model that says P220 it will fit the 45acp and 10mm version. As long as the bottom of the holster is open.

Absolutely, I see what you are saying. My idea for shooting at further distances is no one knows what distance you will need to be proficient at. The active shooter at a Church in Fort Worth was shot at 18 yards away. The active shooter at a Walmart in El Paso could have been shot from anywhere from 5-20 yards if someone there was carrying and able to make that shot. I find it dangerous to believe and train in completely comfortable environments. A lot of the time people don’t want to shoot at further distances because their accuracy falls apart. But that should be more of a reason to do it. Find your failing points and work off of those. Thanks for watching.

To my understanding all 5in barrel P220 10mm are all Steel.

I did a little research and found that the SAO model is a steel slide and steel frame. The DA/SA model is actually weighs less and the slide is steel and the frame is alloy. Dk why they did that but that seems to be what the difference is.

I think you said it in your video but is yours a double action? I went to sigs site and looked at the difference. That's odd if that's the case. I have one in double action I could get but it's saying alloy. I also found one in single action and it says all steel.

Yeah check barrel length. This is all steel. I have alloyed P series guns as well

You should absolutely have training standards for guns you carry moving and not moving. Most people who bulk at set standards cannot meet them.

@@shootingitwiththesarge exactly, mastering 25 yard stationary target unsupported head shots is one of the three pillars of self defense, right along with effective fanning fire from a Colt Navy! But honestly, that gun would probably be more effective at 25 yards! And I carry a 13 rnd 40, which actually makes sense;)
