some people see dark skin as masculine unfortunately i know they didn’t mean on purpose but..yeah it’s a thing you can google, black women say it all the time. editing to clarify: this is what is called casual racism.. racism doesn’t have to be someone calling a black person the n word but it could be subtle like perceiving an extremely feminine dark skinned women as masculine. now it’s obvious they weren’t intentional about it but i hope they unlearn that thing about seeing black woman as masculine..especially in this case where she has ZERO masculine features the animators did that on purpose bc it fits her character.

Victor was out of shimmer variant and wanted to force the transformation. When Sky tried to save him, the core took her energy, desintegrating her and transformed Victors right hand. His assistent became his right hand, literaly.

Silco's relationship with Jinx was never about "using her." He connected with her in Ep. 3 because he empathized with her feeling abandoned, and although she is a very broken person, he always loved and protected her.

The "haggle" line is actually a callback to the first time we encounter Jayce (although we do not see him). In episode one, when Claggor and Ekko are talking outside the shop about how Ekko found Jayce's home and gave the streetkids his address to raid, Ekko mentions that a strange guy came into the store, bought useless crap, paid in gold, and didn't even haggle over the price even though he was getting charged double the norm. Its a mark of Jayce's character, hes straight as an arrow and honest, but also somewhat naïve and sheltered. He just pays whatever is asked of him without trying to negotiate. By the end of the season, Jayce is now a lot more mature, he's made dirty deals with politicians, became an arms dealer, committed a warcrime, but he's still fundamentally the same person that he was from the beginning and he doesn't try to negotiate with Silco because he probably also believes independence is what's necessary for Zaun and is willing to play ball without trying to extract some kind of concession through negotiations.

3:58 Viktor said that the hexcore react to organic matter, but the transmutation is too violent for them to survive. The first time he succeed he had shimmer in his system, so his body is now stronger to survive the transmutation. Now remember Viktor also said that hextech can evolve, that it is sentient, so my theory is that it realize Viktor can give it something and decide to spare him

Like someone else pointed out he was out of shimmer the 2nd time and tried anyways. Like you said the Shimmer gave him a boost of vitality and endurance that allowed to survive the Transmutation. But without it, he was gonna die, when Sky came and was in physical contact with him, the Hexcore, substituted HIS Lifeforce for hers, and drained her completly, leaving just a dust cloud of atoms behind.

Contrast Vi picking herself up with a vision of Vander while Jinx is tormented by visions of her family. Vi's memories are a source of strength for her; for Jinx, they're a source of pain.

yes and Vi doesnt understand that...she wanted the best for her , trying to make her remember but actually it just triggered her trauma and she totally lost herself , Vi isnt very good with her words either and Jinx already feels soo abandoned and paranoid as someone with bipolar with psychotic features I cant even imagine being ina situation such as Jinx...she cant even get help in Zaun, I can only imagine how loud it is in her head all the time its honestly done sooo well how they have shown her psychotic meltdowns is just AMAZING , they really gave her a depth...she isnt just some random cool hot pixie crazy girl... I really hope we get more shows like Arcane and its a treat to our league players aswell , I think after season 2 all those characters voice lines will have soo much meaning thats great ❤

I find it pretty impactful that the second Powder entered Silco's life,she would change his mindset. His "Do Anything to Achieve Power" Philosophy got dismantled the second he saw Jinx as a Daughter. He would let the world burn for her. He offered to go to Stillwater prison instead of her, just as Vander wanted to go to StillWater instead of Vi. I think he knew all of Jinx's triggers that set off her PTSD and saw Vi like she was hurting his daughter so by grabbing the gun,I really think he was wanting to stop the harm Vi was doing to Jinx by killing Vi. Yet I knew on instinct Jinx would protect her sister even though she did end up loving Silco as a father. Goodness this show so Nuanced. You see all sides. From Good intentions,Noble goals via dubious means, Abandonment & Separation Anxiety. Just an observation at the end even though Jinx despises Caitlyn because she feels like she is replacing her. Jinx leaves her alive. I think she did that for Vi, One last gesture to her sister before untethering herself from Her Past,from Vi.

Overall I enjoyed many takes yall had, but the "women were designed masculine" thing at the end discussion really throws me off. I'm curious what you guys meant by it, especially mentioning how Mel had a mans face. She has, if anything, all the stereotypical design facial features of femininity. If you go beyond the face too, shes adorned in jewlery and clothing to accentuate her very feminine body. Fortiche (the animation studio behind Arcane) clearly wanted to design all of its characters with flaws and to different standards of beauty - most likely in an attempt to give us some amazing variety - so I hope this isn't yall having just one standard of beauty for women. If you focus on just faces too, you have the arguement that Vi has just as soft/big eyes, round face as Jinx (especially given that they're related, they'd look similar), compared to how angular a face like Ambessa or Caitlyn's is - but this isnt seen as easily since Vi, in her actions, body movements and musculature can be read was butchy. I don't want to think yall were conflating the idea of some perceived "masculine" traits, like being in power/leading or having some level of competency made characters look masculine in the face either. Caitlyn specifically had a more angular, 'severe', looking face that could maybe be considered 'masculine', but it's also modeled closely to how her mother's looked to show her heritage - would you also consider her mother's face to be masculine?

I think when they meant masculine, I wanna say they meant mature and worn with strength. Like they weren't fragile or childish. Where as jinx would flip between almost too youthful and soft. It's malleable and not harden. It's rather abstract to define it as masculine or feminine. I don't think they meant it in a literal sense because they are all feminine or masculine to a degree.

@@koukhang9118 I appreciate this take as it made me listen back one more time to their end discussion and I suppose I got my answer in one way or another. I might prefer a little more elaboration on their part on what they define as 'masculine' about the female characters' features because it's not readily obvious for anyone that's taken a solid look at these character designs. Other than Ambessa, no one is really sporting a chiseled jawline and no one other than Jayce, I think, has a butt chin - which are shallow stereotypes of 'masculine' features. I also noted that there was a mention of 'masculine' personalities too which is....confusing? Each character exudes a varying degree of soft and hard skills in a way that is unique and sets characterization in this series apart from many other shows. Unless they were referring to their individual abilities to fight, I'm not sure what this could mean as it could refer to just about anything.

Great Worldbuilding Great Characters and Characters Arcs. Amazing art and animation This show had it all. Lets Hope that Season 2 is of the same calibre if not better. The dynamics between characters is also very interesting, Silco's and Jinx's especially. Its a Twisted Parody of what a Parent/Child relationship should be, but what they feel for each other is genuine, even tho it is Toxic and basicly like, they are enabling each others, like a couple of junkies are enabling each others. SIlco is the father figure she couldn't have and Silco's saw himself in her, abbadoned and betrayed by those he trusted and cared for.
