Hi my dear didge friends,
So today I will explain to you how you can easily build solid rhythms.
The idea is that you breathe your rhythms!!! So it will become easy even to play irregular rhythms.
Hope all becomes clear!!! If not let me know...
I will be here to explain it to you!
Lots of love and light,
Didge Mama

The basic rythm is quite ok for me, but your incredible subtle variations are unreachable for the moment, but it's ok, maybe one day, it gives me motivation ! Thank you for this nice moment with you, and for this gift of a piece of your science and art of didgeridoo :))

I wish i had rhythm. I love music. By the age of 12, i already played piano, guitar, bass guitar, trombone and drums. By the time i finished high school, i could play every instrument in an orchestra; well enough. I'm recent years i started learning "different" instruments like the didgeridoo, jaw harp and Morin khuur. You would think with all that musical knowledge that i would have some kind of rhythm 🤣🤣 I can play sheet music, i can replicate what i hear without much issue, but creating my own rhythm or song or something lolol. I've been writing a song for 15 years now and the only thing on the page is "The......" Can't even figure out a title much less what i want it to sound like.

Hi dear JC, I had difficulty improvising before I started playing didgeridoo. No chance!!! But with the didgeridoo it was reinventing music. No sheet music,first just one note, then finding harmonics, then voice and drone->interference, circular breathing~>pulse/rhythm. Then I also did African and samba percussion to be better at rhythm (also no sheet music), and being invited to do improvisations. So this was my way into the world of creating my own music. Good luck and have fun with your journey!!! ❤️🎶☀️

Hi @didgemama. The count is 12 what you played in the beginning 😊. And im so excited to learn the rhythm after learning the basics, just to incorporate the rhythm in circulatar breathing was lil struggle but after following your abdominal pump technique im getting it 🙏😊

It is so nice to see your belly as a rhythm pump, and if your body understands it, it is quite easy to do. Keep having fun 🤩

@@DidgeMama No. I ordered it a while ago and it looks like it's being handled by a middleman. It's a plastic travel Didgeridoo. I don't think they've even shipped it yet. I'll buy my next one from ebay. A real wood one!

Hoi Lies, you are going strong with the lessons, I am enjoying your insights adding to my 20 years of playing very much. Counting 12 beats. Gu ^ Gu ^ Gu ^ Ge gu ^ Ge gu ^. The rhythm you explaned as Gu ^ Ge gu ^ Ge gu ^ so the 8 counts I know as the "tresillo". Please continue with these fantastic video's I will be watching you in The Didge café soon.

8 count? Do you busk in Amsterdam? Are permits required? Enjoying your videos by the way :-)
@DidgeMama
@DidgeMama 4 года назад
12 counts, an 8 count would be GOO V GE-GOO V GE-GOO V, V = Breathing-in and also a count! No permits allowed, but un-amplified, certain areas and certain times and max 30min on one spot!!! :-)
@deonels
@deonels 4 года назад
Hi, not going to guess the count... Have to practise... One question... How many hours practise a day is required?
@DidgeMama
@DidgeMama 4 года назад
Deon Els no worries. Nobody guessed yet, so I must explain it better, I guess. And time practice wise. It depends on what you want to achieve and how effective you practice and conscious you are of your body. But I always say at least 10 minutes a day. When I practice, I practice about half an hour and after I just play only for fun. Good luck and enjoy ❤️☀️🎶

Heey 😀. I have 2 questions. Hopefully you can helpt me. I’m practicing since a few months and my drone has improved. But often when I start playing it’s good, but it looses the ‘sweet spot’ often after starting circulair breathing. Any tips or excursies for this? And second. At the moment I’m starting with simple rhythms of 2 and 3 beats. I’m experiencing that using the cheeks and jaw is pretty easy, but using the abs feels very uncomfortable and uneasy. Is this common? And do you have any tips on this. Thank you so much 🙏
@DidgeMama
@DidgeMama 4 года назад
MrThijstenberge question one: It is quite common to loose the perfect drone. Especially when you do articulations, normally you also use your lips to articulate, so you might loose the perfect lip position. The other thing is if you play a T, you touch your lips on the inside and it makes a little stop. It’s all about training your lips. The first video, trying to make your drone without your didgeridoo is a good exercise, you will feel your lips getting tired!
@DidgeMama
@DidgeMama 4 года назад
MrThijstenberge and your second question: loads of people have breathing traumas, so trusting you have loads of air after a sigh is for a lot of people difficult and uncomfortable!!! My advice is dive into the feeling of uncomfortableness and give it expression, the nice thing about playing didgeridoo, all your expressed emotions sound great through your instrument 😉. No seriously, if you can release this fear, you feel such freedom! And try to message your stomach and belly, if you can massage it, it is relaxed. Find out what relaxation is! Good luck and enjoy the ride ❤️☀️🎶
